BLT Chopped Salad
All the goodness of a BLT in a healthy salad form with a refreshing lime vinaigrette!
I know that we’re in the new year and all and we’re supposed to be eating salads and quinoa casseroles left and right but no one said we had to leave out bacon, right? I mean, you can always sneak it in a salad and make it healthy. And if you really want to take it a step further, you can even add a little bit of an extra crisp bacon garnish. Or am I just pushing it here?
Either way, if all salads were like this, I’m sure I could eat a BLT chopped salad everyday for the rest of my life. From the crisp bacon to the gorgeous cherry medley tomatoes, fresh avocado, and sweet corn kernels on a bed of crisp romaine lettuce, this salad is absolute perfection. And with a drizzle of that tangy, sweet lime vinaigrette, you’ll really want to have this every. single. day.
BLT Chopped Salad
Ingredients
- 4 slices bacon, diced
- 4 cups chopped romaine lettuce
- 1 avocado, halved, seeded, peeled and diced
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- ½ cup corn kernels
- ¼ cup crumbled goat cheese
For the lime vinaigrette
- ¼ cup olive oil
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
- Zest of 1 lime
- 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
- 2 teaspoons sugar, or more to taste
Instructions
- To make the vinaigrette, whisk together olive oil, apple cider vinegar, lime zest and juice, and sugar in a small bowl; set aside.
- Heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add bacon and cook until brown and crispy, about 6-8 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
- In a large bowl, combine romaine lettuce, avocado, tomatoes, corn, goat cheese and bacon. Stir in lime vinaigrette.

Delicious salad!!!
I make this salad quite often. My daughter-in-law loves it and so do it. It’s just the right combination of everything great about a BLT!
We make this all the time when we have guests over, it is so amazing! Make this you will not be disappointed and if you make enough for guests they will be impressed!!!
Thank you Toni! Happy to hear you liked it.
Can’t wait to try this! What kind of apple cider vinegar do you use to make the dressing?
Any brand that is available at your local grocery store works just fine 🙂
i have been eating salad for a quite a period of time (as losing weight) and figured out that it’s the best food that one should add into his/her diet. it’s been a month that i have been eating salads and boiled veggies and lost around 8 kg weight and archived great health goals as well. Moreover, i have searched for many recipes to make my salad more healthy and tasty but had to sacrifice one all time, either taste or health coz it’s said that you can’t have both.
Chungah, after reading your post i think i could be able to achieve both. i have tried making many salads and will try this one too, have a kind of intuition that this one will do better. cheers for this one mate!
Do you use fresh corn cut off the cob or canned?
Fresh cooked corn cut off the cobb or canned should work just fine.
The dressing was terrible – the oil/vinegar ratio seemed very disproportionate. I’m glad I tasted it before putting it on the salad. I would recommend finding another dressing.
Delicious salad! The lime vinaigrette dressing reminds me of key lime pie which gave the salad a citrus, fresh taste. You do need to like lime to like this, but if you do, it’s wonderful. At first I was concerned about the equal quantities of vinegar and oil making this too vinegary, but it works in the salad. I did use the 2 tsp sugar, but I might try less next time. Since I do not care for goat cheese, I substituted blue cheese.

Just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate you and your blog. I love your recipes and I love how much you love Butters. I love my dogs so much…such wonderful creatures who give us so much in return for a little love and good food.
All the best to you!
I have to say this was the best salad I’ve ever made. Thank you!
wow! I cut the recipe in half bcuz there’s only 2 of us – I kid you not we chased every little bit at the bottom of our bowls.
This was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good!!!! I’m not a fan of vinaigrette, but I loved this! I took the advice of a commenter above and added some mayo to the dressing to mimic a BLT. So good! I had some black beans in the fridge, so I just threw them in with it. YUM!
This sounds amazing! I was just wondering if I could store the dressing in my fridge if there is leftovers? I’d hate to throw it away!
The dressing should keep for 1-2 days.
I love your recipes!! Done a few of them and amazing!! This salad is a must try!!
This BLT Chopped Salad was fabulous!! Thank you for sharing this wonderful, delightful recipe.
Made this last night. It was delicious. So good, in fact, that not only did my boyfriend go back for seconds, he went back a third time to finish what was left; right out of the serving bowl. I’d say it was a definite success. Thank you!
Great recipe! The fresh corn is a smart addition (mild sweetness and texture difference to replace the bread and mayo), and avocado is of course the BLT’s best friend. A few small chunks of the avocado whisked into the vinaigrette will add body and help the dressing stick to the lettuce. Thanks!

Christy, you can use canned corn kernels or grilled corn kernels. It’s really based on personal preference.
Do you used canned corn or frozen?
It is best to use canned or grilled corn.

Thank you for this one. I love all your recipes and you are by far my favorite food blogger. I just needed a salad that I could LOVE and eat for lunches without feeling deprived. This fits the bill perfectly. What a great recipe!
I discovered your blog a few weeks back through a FB share, wow! I love your recipes! I made this a few weeks ago during a break from the cold of wintery Alberta, and my husband (who never eats veggies) went back for seconds! This salad is delicious! Thanks for all you do, and keep up the good work! Enjoy that darling pup, he’ll bring so much joy. 🙂
Excellent dressing!

Oh my this sounds delicious. I was wondering though, I am currently not allowed to have sugar. But I can have orange blossom honey…do you think I could substitute the sugar for the honey and the vinaigrette still work?
Yes, honey will work as a great substitute.
Thank You! Definitely going to make this salad this weekend!
This salad is absolutely gorgeous!! I am just dying to make this, yum 🙂
Delicious! I added a few tablespoons of mayo to the dressing to give it a true BLT taste.
I absolutely ADORE your photography. What wonderfully crisp, bright shots in a sea of dimly lit food photography!
Oh, and great recipe too. 🙂
Love this web site! There are so many great recipes.. I especially like the quick
Asian recipes.. I can’t wait to try some of them. I love the fact that they are
colorfully pictured and very simple to prepare.
I am making this for company tonight. It looks and sounds amazing. Hopefully, every one else agrees. I’m not a big bacon fan unless it’s a BLT and the dressing sounds delicious!
That looks amazingly good. I love salad anyway but when you add bacon, I am totally sold!
Yaasssss, this is the kind of salad I’m talking about! I always dream of these, but wind up making myself wussy little lettuce-and-tomato-and-nothing-else disappointments. Pinning for inspiration!
I really hope you get a chance to give this a try, Elizabeth. It’s a pretty epic salad!
Oh yeah this is so genius! Love!
This salad looks yummy. I love your clear, crisp pictures too. Makes your site pop and your recipes desirable.
I love chopped salads and that lime vinaigrette is a must make!
Just found your blog! Everything looks damn delicious. Love the name! you have some great photos/photo staging skills.
Your photos always look stunning, but lately they’ve been off the charts – gorgeous color and clarity!
P.S. This salad looks delicious!
That looks so yummy! Can’t wait to try it. Thank you for sharing and God Bless
Bacon is really not all that bad, in fact its actually better than turkey bacon because it natural and not manufactured! Best of all, I can eat it while on the paleo diet! HURRAH! 🙂 This salad looks awesome like always Chung-Ah. Can’t wait to give it a try. Pinning
Bacon is definitely necessary! This salad is gorgeous. I could eat it everyday and never get tired of it. 🙂
You definitely can’t leave out the bacon–this BLT salad has everything I want. The lime vinaigrette sounds like the perfect choice, too.
This is salad perfection. Pinning!
This salad looks delicious. Love all the flavours and so colourful. Makes me happy just looking at it 🙂
Looks so delicious … I think it’s the vibrant colours… and the bacon, of course! I’m not keen on goat’s cheese, but I guess you could add another sharpish cheese … maybe a little crumbled feta?
Chopped salad loaded with bacon… I loooove it! No joke, I would eat 2 huge salad bowls of this in one sitting. You don’t know me until you put salad and bacon in front of my face. I’ll tear it up!! 🙂
Gorgeous salad, Chung-Ah! I want this for breakfast right now, LOL! Thanks for sharing, girl. Pinned!
I am *not kidding* when I tell you that yesterday I bought the ingredients for a vegan BLT salad and am shooting it tomorrow. Girl I have never put a bacon recipe (in my case, faux bacon) on my site but thought what the heck. I couldn’t make this up! Your salad is gorgeous! And probably far more beautiful than how mine is going to turn out tomorrow! pinned 🙂
Thank you for the pin, as always! And I can’t wait to see your vegan BLT salad!
WANT! This looks gorgeous! Hand it overrr.
