3 Ingredient Frozen Dog Treats

Seriously the easiest treats EVER using chicken stock and peanut butter! And the parsley works as a breath freshener too!
I’m all for homemade dog treats. I have one for almost every category – to drinks to breath mints to no-bake treats. Wait. There’s a bacon one too.
But this is my first frozen treat, and the easiest one of all with just THREE stinking ingredients.
Yes, only 3! Chicken stock, peanut butter and parsley. I mean, you should have all of it on hand, except for maybe the parsley.
But if you don’t have it ready, you can skip the parsley as needed. So I guess it’s really just a 2 ingredient recipe.
You will also need a silicone cake pan. I used this one here but any shape will work just fine – hearts, stars, Easter eggs, bones, whatever.
From there, you can pour your chicken stock first, let it freeze for a bit, then pour in your layer of peanut butter. That’s it!
3 Ingredient Frozen Dog Treats
Ingredients
- 1 cup chicken stock
- 1 cup peanut butter*
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine peanut butter and parsley; set aside.
- Divide chicken broth evenly into a silicone ice cube tray, filling the tray halfway full. Place into freezer and freeze until set, about 1 hour.
- Spoon peanut butter mixture into the tray, filling the tray full. Place into freezer and freeze until hard, at least 4 hours.

Sure she might have loved it had I used a chicken stock cube (as instructed) instead of a chicken stock pot! Too many herbs in that one I think….
Hi there, I am just wondering if I can use parsley from my spice cabinet or will it not do the job for fresh breath like fresh parsley? Thank you. I’m so excited to try this recipe for my 2 boxers!!! Ill be sure to post an update.
My dogs loved it!!
I would love to try these soon, as I live in the south and it will be getting warmer as spring rolls around. Our new rescue pup has a heavy fur coat and will get hot very quickly
I’m very interested in your site. I have been looking for dog food recipes so I’m very excited. I’m interested in the Korean and pork recipes.
Thanks very much,
My two dogs love the frozen treats
Aw that’s awesome!
I was wondering what kind/brand of peanut butter you use?
Hi Susan! I use an all-natural peanut butter that does not contain xylitol (this is an “all natural” sugar substitute that is extremely poisonous to dogs).
I have a question. Can chicken broth be substituted for chicken stock? I’ve had surgery yesterday and can’t get to the store for a while and was wondering…if not then I’ll have to let my Black German Shepard, Night, wait until I can get someone to go to the store for us.
Thanks for the recipes!!!! She,s going to love these!!!
Hot in Oklahoma and it’s onky June 2!,,
Yes, absolutely! Hoping you have a speedy recovery. 🙂
I had never thought of using beef stock, but this makes a lot of sense. I usually make the tried and true banana/yogurt/PB frozen treats that my dogs love. They also like “crunchy water” (ice cubes (-; ) that I sometimes give them because it is so hot in Las Vegas, but do not really know what to make of them!
Let me start with saying I love this ides, but there two major points I feel are worth calling out here.
1. Only use chicken stock that you made not using onion, most grocery store stock will have onion (thiosulphate) in it which is toxic for dogs.
2. Use peanut butter that does not contain Xylitol, it too is toxic to your fluffy little buddy, so check the label 🙂
Thanks for mentioning that. It’s really easy to make homemade broth. A whole chicken in a stock pot, covered with water, JUST water. Bring to a boil, reduce to medium heat for 1 1/2 hours, or until the meat is falling off the bone. Strain the chicken using a fine strainer to catch small bones. Chill the broth for several hours, or until fat has solidified on top. Skim it off. Awesome broth.

Your pups are the cutest! I’m sure my miniature dachshund would love these – I might have to whip some up for his first birthday coming up!
the recipe looks really easy. can’t wait to try it. Can you tell me approximately how long a treat would last say a medium sized not aggressive dog?
Hi Chungah, excellent assist from you. I have two cats and one dog in my house and I always try to keep them healthy by making some healthy and different recipe. Hope they will love your recipe.
This is a great idea! Just keep in mind that if you’re using commercially produced chicken broth, it probably contains onion, which are killers to dogs. If making your own chicken broth for the dog treats, make sure to omit onions.
I am so glad that I read this! I was about to make dog treats using leftover chicken broth, and I never even thought to check the ingredient list. I didn’t realize that onion juice was added. Thanks so much for posting this!
Great, so beauty recipe. My dos will have some tomorrow.
Thanks for recipe! My mom loves dogs!
I will try next weekend with her!
I hope that’s easy. =D
These look great! I only have cats, but will share with my doggie loving pals!!!

I bet my dog would love these! Making them at home would be so much more cost-efficient!
Thank you! Great and easy recipe! May I add one thing, please check your peanut butter to make sure it does not contain Xylitol. Some manufacturers are now using this sugar substitute in place of sugar. Xylitol can be deadly for your pet.
Thank you Barb! I read the recipe with interest and I do have all of the ingredients and love Chungah’s recipes but Xylitol will kill dogs. It hasn’t been mentioned in the news enough for pet lovers to me. Chungah I am looking at so many of your recipes and I thank you for sharing. The ones I have tried for people have gone over well in our house so now it’s the dogs turn! Lol!
Your pups are the cutest! I’m sure my miniature dachshund would love these – I might have to whip some up for his first birthday coming up!
Hi: today’s post is wonderful. My Zeus was just about out of doggie treats and I was going off to the supermarket to get him some dental bones but this is even better. I can make them in a size that’s right for him; for some reason it’s so hard to find treats for big dogs. He’ll have sweet dog breath, he loves peanut butter and they look like people food so he’ll gobble them up for sure. I’ve got to try all your other dog treat recipes. And best of all the kids won’t go “yuck” when he slobbers them up. Thank you so much.
Fantastic Chungah!!! Although we are in Nova Scotia, Canada, the summers here are brutal for about two months temperature wise. I have a little Pug and she minds the heat so much…I have tucked this recipe away for those “dog” days. I can’t believe I haven’t thought of this one. Thanks for sharing!!!
Its for hot days to cool off your pup. 🙂
why is the treat frozen? do the pets eat it that way? Mmmmmm jeanette
Yes!
