About Me

My name is Chung-Ah Rhee and I am a New York Native who has been living in Southern California for the past twelve years. I originally wanted to be doctor and tried to pursue my life goal during my undergraduate studies at UCLA. But after taking a countless number of chemistry and bio classes, I realized that I absolutely hated everything about bio. And if I hated bio, how in the world was I going to get through medical school? So I gave up on the dream of becoming a cardiologist and instead, applied to graduate schools to obtain a master’s in public health. I just graduated from USC in May 2012 and I have fallen in love with biostatistics and ultimately want to go into data analysis for chronic disease.

But my true passion in life is food. I love everything about it - whether it’s eating, cooking, baking, or creating new recipes. Now before I got into cooking and baking, the boyfriend (Jason) and I became hardcore foodies once we started dating. We scoped out the best restaurants and had a blast just trying out different things. We’d take trips to San Diego and Santa Barbara just for the food! (That explains why I gained 24 pounds in the first year of our relationship.) But even though we got to try some really great food in the course of our relationship, it became hard on our wallets and our health so I began to cook a bit more at home.

I never received any formal training but I like to look up different recipes and try them out and learn as I go, kind of like trial-and-error. I love looking at various food blogs and trying out their recipes, and it’s especially helpful because not only do they review their own recipes but some of these blogs have step-by-step photos, which becomes extremely helpful for visual people like me.

This blog was initially created to organize my favorite recipes but it’s blossomed into something that’s become a huge part of my life. I’ve met a countless number of wonderful foodies who share the same interests as me and we share the journey of cooking and baking through the night because that’s what we love to do. And I’m so honored to be part of this wonderful foodie community.

Also, a huge thank you to Jason (the occasional dishwasher and ultimate taste-tester) who has been so supportive and pushing me to follow my true passion in life.
