A copycat recipe that you can easily make right at home in just 20 minutes. And it tastes a million times better too!
I am such a sucker for lettuce wraps. They are so low in carbs so I become a bottomless pit, stuffing my face without any kind of guilt. And when it’s an exact PF Chang’s replica that can be made in 20 minutes or less – well, that just means I’m having this 5 times a week.
I kid you not. This is the easiest, quickest meal you could ever make. And if you’re quick in the kitchen, you could even get this on the dinner table in less than 15 minutes. Plus, it’s budget-friendly and you can easily double or triple the recipe as needed. What more could you ask for?
PF Chang's Chicken Lettuce Wraps
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, diced
- ¼ cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon Sriracha, optional
- 1 (8-ounce) can whole water chestnuts, drained and diced
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 head butter lettuce
Equipment
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Add ground chicken and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes, making sure to crumble the chicken as it cooks; drain excess fat.
- Stir in garlic, onion, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, ginger and Sriracha until onions have become translucent, about 1-2 minutes.
- Stir in chestnuts and green onions until tender, about 1-2 minutes; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- To serve, spoon several tablespoons of the chicken mixture into the center of a lettuce leaf, taco-style.

I finally got around to making this tonight after intending to for months…I won’t wait that long until I make it again! It was damn delicious (;
I served it on purple bib lettuce with sliced cucumbers, radishes, and baby carrots on the side. It was healthy and looked colorful and amazing. My husband and 17 year old son both said they really liked it and want me to make it again.
This was AMAZING! My boyfriend and I both loved it. The only thing I left out was the ginger, since I am allergic. But the flavor was still so great without it. Thank you!
I actually add extra hoisin because it’s the best part! I don’t add onions, usually just dried minced onion, but I’m guessing the key there is to make sure they’re fully cooked, and also “one onion” is a little vague, when I do use real onion I eyeball how much I should use since some onions are small and some are huge.
Anyway I made this last night for the approximately millionth time lol and it’s a favorite! I always double it and sometimes add things to it like broccoli slaw or spinach.
Delicious and easy!
Wow- my picky 4 year old devoured 3 of these and I ate several too! I thought the flavors were perfectly balanced, and it tasted like something from a restaurant. I am very skeptical about online recipes- this is only the second one I’ve ever made that came out much better than expected. This dish will now be added to my regular line up- it’s healthy, affordable and versatile.
Thank you for this recipe. I’m on a low-carb diet and so I had this with a side of stirfried vegetables and it was so delicious! And it taste just like P.F. Chang’s. Easy to make, hardest part is the prep. But even then it was such a walk in the park. Husband loved it too!
AMAZING! I’ve made this recipe so many times I’ve almost committed the ingredients to memory. This is the tastiest healthy meal around! Let me be clear, this recipe tastes just like PF Chang’s!
Just made this for my family a big hit,we ate at this place once time and my daughter has been asking me to make some.
Wow!! We just had dinner at PF Changs a few days ago and had the Famous Lettuce Wraps. I just followed the recipe and WOW – my family inhaled the wraps!! A new family favourite now!
Make these too many times to count, and my family goes apeshhh over them every time!… even my picky 4 year old, that almost exclusively eats just white rice because he’s so picky! These, in my humble opinion, top PF Chang’s! This recipe is in heavy rotation in my household at least twice a month and never disappoints. Thanks so much!
Made this for dinner and it was quick, easy, and delicious! I added some baby bella mushrooms that I needed to use and they blended in nicely. Will definitely make again!
Yummy!!! That’s all I have to say.
Made these for a double date with my boyfriend’s parents and they were a smash hit! I doubled the recipe to serve as the main course and it fed 4 with leftovers! I served them with crushed peanuts as a topping. These were fool proof!
I’m single and tired of eating burgers & fries so I wanted to try something quick and easy. Had this dish before at P. F. Changs. This recipe is perfect. Even better. I’m amazed how well it turned out. I used chicken thighs which I ground in the blender myself (yes the blender. I don’t have a food processor) Followed the recipe to the T. The ingredients blend well and result in a great tasting dish. Can’t wait to try some of your other recipes. Will be sharing this one with my daughters. Thank you!
I have made these lettuce wraps many times and my family LOVES them!! I double the recipe because we love it so much, and if we ever have leftovers (which rarely happens) its amazing for lunch the next day. I leave out the Sriracha because my little ones are sensitive to spice, but my husband and I just add it over the top of our wraps, and it’s great! My six year old (who is usually particular with his dinner) says these are his favorite. Thank you so much for this recipe!!
I am excited to try these tonight. I realized I don’t have any ground chicken. Could chicken thighs work?
Haven’t tried it yet but will be. Do you also have the recipe for the sauce you add to it?
These were absolutely wonderful! So easy to make and really delicious! Thanks for sharing!!!!!
Would love to know if you recreated the dipping sauce as well.
I would love to know the recipe for the dipping sauce as well!!
Thank you for asking that, I’ve been looking for that recipe also, I just wish someone would have answered you with it
I made this sauce (on another PF Chang’s chicken wrap recipe. really good
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/2 cup water
3 tablespoons reduced sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1/8 teaspoon chili oil
1 tablespoon chopped chives
1/4 teaspoon Chinese hot mustard
1 teaspoon Sriracha
Although it is very liquidy….is that a word lol. I am still looking for another to add to the collection that is thicker…..
Absolutely delicious and light! Only thing I did differently was to double the recipe. Leftovers were great, too.
I am going to make this for my vegetarian son (who eats fish) but used chopped shrimp. Do you think that will work?
I have made this with shrimp and it was great!
Kate, you could use TVP instead of shrimp. Or even tofu.
