Sesame Ginger Salmon
A super easy and flavorful salmon dish chockfull of heart-healthy protein, vitamin A and omega-3 fatty acids!
So let’s talk salmon. Salmon is absolutely one of my favorite kinds of fish. It’s so versatile, so hearty, and so full of protein, vitamin A, and omega fatty acids, which are essential to the proper functioning of the heart and brain. I’m obviously not a salmon ambassador or anything – I just really like it, and when you prepare it with the right ingredients, you’ll have a hearty, healthy dish on your table in no time that your family will love!
Like with this simple ginger marinade here, the salmon soaks up all of the amazing Asian flavors before it gets baked to flaky perfection. And then you finish it off with that sweet honey ginger glaze with a hint of spiciness from the Sriracha because as you know, I have to add Sriracha to everything!
Sesame Ginger Salmon
Ingredients
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, pressed
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 4 green onions, thinly sliced
- 4 5-ounce salmon filets
For the Honey Ginger Glaze
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- ½ teaspoon Sriracha, or more, to taste
- ½ teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- ½ teaspoon sesame seeds
Instructions
- To make the glaze, whisk together honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, Sriracha, ginger and sesame seeds in a small bowl; set aside.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, sesame seeds and green onions.
- In a gallon size Ziploc bag or large bowl, combine ginger marinade and salmon filets; marinate for at least 30 minutes to overnight, turning the bag occasionally.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Lightly coat a 9x13 baking dish with nonstick spray.
- Place salmon filets along with the marinade onto prepared baking dish and bake until the fish flakes easily with a fork, about 20 minutes.
- Serve salmon immediately with honey ginger glaze.

I could not believe how good this was. Not just the taste but the smell…..when it was marinating, when it was cooking and when we were eating it. Thank you again.
I don’t like seafood, but I was advised to and I am trying to eat healthier. I made this recipe last night and I was very pleased. I really liked the glaze. I will make this recipe again.
This was the MOST AMAZING marinade and glaze!! I grilled mine in a cast-iron grill pan instead of oven-baked, but this was absolutely delicious! Thanks so much for the recipe!
Crazy good! Made it for myself and my food snob BF, who said he’s love this for his birthday dinner later this month instead of some sort of modified pandemic dinner out. That says it all!! Made all the sauce and glaze but only 2 salmon filets – wish I would have made 4 filets in for leftovers! A salmon bowl with leftover salmon, brown rice and boy choy, and the leftover cooked marinade from the baking pan would have been amazing for a quick lunch the next day. Low sodium soy sauce worked just fine, and other ingredients exactly as stated. Started a pot of brown rice, and then rinsed and cut some baby bok choy in half, drizzled with olive oil and a little salt and pepper, and put on a baking sheet. Baked the salmon for 12 min, then brushed with the glaze and returned to oven along with the boy choy for another 8 min. Super fast and easy and a recipe we’ll be repeating on a regular basis. Now wondering what else I’ll find on damndelicious.net. Buy extra ginger for ginger tea!
This was delicious and so simple to make. The honey ginger glaze was yummy, but we found that the marinade was so good that we didn’t even need it. (Yes, we ate it anyway!) Somehow, we were out of sriracha, so we substituted Tabasco and it was great. We will definitely be making this over and over again!
I am so glad I found this recipe it was absolutely delicious I only let it marinade for about 30 mins I can’t wait to try it after marinating overnight. Served it with spicy Chinese Sichuan green beans and rice. My twins barely even came up for air!!! Thank you for another fabulous recipe!!
Great balance of flavors
OMG! Another hit from the website! I have shared this recipe with my friends and family. DELICIOUS! & very easy. I served with Bok choy & rice. You can not go wrong with this! Pulse, most of ingredients are in your pantry, but when you use this combination it makes it out of this world! Highly recommended!
This was good. I halved the recipe for just my husband and I. There is a sesame ginger glaze we enjoy out of a jar at the store for our salmon, but I wanted to try something similar from scratch. My husband really enjoyed it! We had it with sticky sesame chickpeas, a brown & white rice mixture, and a side salad.
This is our new favorite salmon recipe. I serve it with rice and sautéed garlicky bok choy. Perfect meal and comes together quick. If you can plan ahead let the salmon marinate for several hours to really get the flavors in it. So good!
Made it last night, and my husband is still talking about it this morning. I served it as a salmon bowl. I did a layer of jasmine rice drizzled with the marinade ( I love the marinade so much I had set some aside before marinading the salmon), topped with a layer of micro-greens also drizzled with the marinade, then topped with the cooked salmon. Then, I lightly drizzled the salmon with the glaze. Perfection!
Excellent recipe. This is my favorite way to make salmon, and this recipe has some additional ingredients that make it extra good!
Delicious and very flavorful! Highly recommend this recipe!
Wonderful. My family loves salmon and it is my son’s favorite meal. This recipe is going in the recipe box! Easy to prepare and super delicious. I can’t wait to try more of your dishes. 🙂

I had never made salmon before and used this recipe. Everyone loved it. Came back to use it again and it isn’t displaying anymore
We loved this!! We only had seasoned rice vinegar on hand. BBQ’d in foil packets. Was very tasty and did not even need the added glaze. Served with stir-fry bok choy cooked in oil, garlic, tamari, sesame oil, and sesame seeds. Will be one of our top salmon BBQ recipes!
Excellent! Didn’t have any sesame seeds for the glaze so I used grated almonds. Served with brown rice and broccoli, carrot, cauliflower stir fry. I also added large shrimp to the marinade and baked along with salmon!
Just tremendous! We both woke up this morning wanting to make it again. Already emailed this to a friend of ours that loves salmon. This one’s a keeper!!
My husband loved this Ginger salmon . It is always a struggle getting him to eat fish.,, He actually requested I make it for company! Wonderful flavor!
Made this with rainbow trout on the BBQ and it was awesome! I used coconut aminos instead of soya sauce (cause that’s all I had) and it worked perfectly.
So good, and easy! Such a flavorful, versatile and quick dinner! Thank you so much, this will definitely be a regular for us! Made steamed broccoli and jasmine rice to go with…perfect!
