Korean Beef Lettuce Wraps
Everyone’s favorite Korean BBQ made at home with these light/refreshing lettuce wraps! Can also be made/prepped ahead of time!
Guys.
It’s finally happening.
I’m moving into my studio.
Also known as #DDHQ.
You know.
Damn Delicious Headquarters.
I’m scrambling back and forth moving things in.
Cleaning. Organizing. Making 83717 trips to IKEA. You know the drill.
I also make a few trips out there just for the meatballs.
But before my next IKEA trip, I had to share these lettuce wraps.
My all-time favorite lettuce wraps, really.
Although these PF Chang’s one comes to a close second.
This is my fave though because you can just eat the leftover meat as is – over a bowl of rice, a salad, or by itself.
But the lettuce wrap combo is light and refreshing.
And it also makes for a perfect lunch sack.
I mean, I might just pack this alongside to eat with my IKEA meatballs.
Just saying.
Korean Beef Lettuce Wraps
Ingredients
- ½ cup reduced sodium soy sauce
- ¼ cup brown sugar, packed
- ¼ cup chopped green onions
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons freshly grated ginger
- 2 tablespoons freshly grated pear, optional
- 1 teaspoon Sriracha, optional
- 1 ½ pounds hanger steak, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 cup white rice
- 1 head butter lettuce
- ½ teaspoons sesame seeds
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, green onions, garlic, sesame oil, ginger, pear and Sriracha, if using. Reserve 1/4 cup and set aside.
- In a gallon size Ziploc bag or large bowl, combine soy sauce mixture and steak; marinate for at least 1 hour to overnight, turning the bag occasionally. Drain the steak from the marinade.
- In a large saucepan of 2 cups water, cook rice according to package instructions; set aside.
- Preheat grill to medium high heat. Add steak to grill and cook, flipping once and basting with reserved 1/4 cup marinade until cooked through, about 1-2 minutes on each side.
- To serve, spoon rice into the center of a lettuce leaf, taco-style; top with steak, garnished with sesame seeds, if desired.

This is delicious! Light and tasty. We have it all the time.
Hi, can i replace the beef with chicken, with the same recepie?
legacy dish and recipe. thanks in 2021 for posting the details in 2017. I seriously hope your #DDHQ is thriving. I’m going to check up on it now.
Damn Delicious Headquarters.
My butcher doesn’t have hanger, so recommended Skirt- it was WONDERFUL. I made a salad of pickeled carrots/cukes to go with and it was a perfect summer dinner
So delicious! The family loved it so much. Super flavorful
This was awesome! I sauted with all the sauce in my instapot instead of marinating and grilling. I also served with sides of fresh veggies. Such as, celery, red and green peppers, cucumbers, green onions, and avacados.
Both me and my husband loved these so much! Made it exactly like your recipe without the pear. Tastes really good with grilled garlic in sesame oil and flank cut steak piece.
Love this recipe! Tried it tonight and my guy loved it. Will be adding it into my rotation of meals. Didn’t have the pear and ended up adding more sririacha and it tasted divine!
This was so delicious!! I could not find Hanger or Flank Steak anywhere so opted for Sirloin and it was super tender and turned out amazing! Will for sure be making it again!!
This was Damn Delicious! 🙂 Couldn’t find hanger steak so used flank – I think the hanger steak would’ve made this even better. Great recipe. will def make again.
This dish is just fab! Thanks once again. But I’m a bit curious, what’s with the pear? Is there a substitute? Pears aren’t in season in this part of the world, though I made this dish without and it was still great!
You can omit if it is not readily available.
How long do you cook it in the crock pot
This recipe is not tailor made to be cooked in a slow cooker.
I love the korean marinade flavours so must try this recipe. Anything with gochujang is a winner for me.
I never met a lettuce wrap I didn’t like and I’m loving this one. Can’t wait to try the recipe.
Can’t wait to try this!!! Loved all of your recipes that we have madeo far! Thank you!
Don’t the pieces fall through the grill?
It shouldn’t if they’re cut large enough!
Just made your Korean beef slow cooker recipe after using the quick Korean beef too many times to count. Kids loved the crock pot version too and the meat was perfect so will try this next! Wondering if you could come up with a shrimp and grits recipe as you seem to know how to blend spices and ingredients perfectly and it always seems to be a home run with your recipes. Figured you would know best how to come up with a unique twist on this dish.
I love beef lettuce wraps, you have done a fantastic job of these!! (:
will have to try this! sounds & looks Delish! I seen you in one of my magazines also.. Goodness you stay busy! 🙂
