Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps
These simple wraps comes together in less than 30 min, and it’s incredibly hearty, healthy and filling!
Before I became a stay-at-home blogger, Jason and I ate out almost every single day of the week. It was so much easier than cooking at home and then having to do the dishes thereafter. But after awhile, it became increasingly expensive and I quickly began to see some weight gain. So that’s how this blog actually came about – as a way to save money and to create a more healthier lifestyle for my family.
So I’ve teamed up with Cook Smarts for the month of September in their Meal Planning Awareness campaign. As money and resources are being wasted, along with the rise in obesity in the U.S., we want to teach home cooks how to easily plan delicious and healthy meals for the week in about 30 minutes, which is less time than it takes to eat just one meal out! Meal planning can seem a bit daunting but with the right tools and knowledge, you’ll have everything you need to succeed in the kitchen to live a healthy, happy lifestyle.
So I hope you’ll join me in my pledge to prepare 4 or more home cooked meals over eating out for 1 month, starting with these super easy turkey lettuce wraps.
If you’re like me, you’ll eat this by the spoonful!
Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground turkey
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 small onion, diced
- ¼ cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- ½ teaspoon freshly grated ginger
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 3 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 head butter lettuce
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium high heat.
- Add ground turkey and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes, making sure to crumble the turkey as it cooks; drain excess fat and set aside. Add garlic, bell pepper and onion to the saucepan. Cook, stirring frequently, until tender, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in hoisin sauce, soy sauce, ginger and ground turkey until well combined. Add rice and green onions and gently toss to combine.
- To serve, spoon several tablespoons of the turkey mixture into the center of a lettuce leaf, taco-style.

Have you tried these in any other type of lettuce, instead of butter lettuce??
Any other type of lettuce should work just fine.
My husband and have been on a mission to eat healthy. I made these this past weekend for dinner and we both LOVED the recipe. I shared the recipe with my mother in law, and she loved it too, and she made it for us for dinner again last night! I am keeping this one for the recipe book. I am loving your healthy recipes, thank you!
I don’t see green onions in ingredients? How many did you use?

Made these tonight and they were so delicious! I happened to have some fresh thai basil to chop and toss in right at the end, my oh my, delicious addition. Thank you so much for the recipe.
I made this for dinner tonight, and it was absolutely delicious! Did everything exactly as instructed, except I also added sliced water chestnuts at the end. Because I’ll take any excuse to eat water chestnuts haha.
I just made this, and I must say it was awesome! I too used ground turkey breast, and I couldn’t tell a difference. Never again will I go out to a restaurant to get this, it’s too easy to make at home, and healthier!
Could I replace the white rice with quinoa instead?
Yes, that would be a great substitute!
I made these last night and they truly came together quickly and my 10 and 14 yr old boys both loved them. Will make them again!
I just made these last week! So good!!!!!
Hi Chung-Ah,
Do you have any personal recipes for homemade Hoison sauce, or know of any? Thank you for all the budget friendly, delicious, easy recipes. I use many for entertainment and have tried to hashtag Damn Delicious on my Instagram pictures. I want to give credit where credit is due!
Unfortunately, I do not have a recipe for homemade hoisin sauce at this time, but I have just added it to my bucket list! 🙂
I made this yesterday….Oh My!!!! It was soooo good. Made SO much!! Lots of leftovers for lunches and suppers.
Thank you.
Yum thanks heaps. So delicious!
Great recipe!!! I added water chestnuts, chopped peanuts and accidentally forgot the rice- still delicious. I actually used the rice in my tofu vegetarian version for my 11 year old. Love your website!
I used to view cooking as a necessary evil for those who couldn’t afford to eat out all the time… namely, me! For 2 years or so, I scraped by, cooking boring meals typical of college students. Then one day, I tried a recipe that made my roommate’s mouth water and I realized cooking could be fun, even for cheapsters like me! Now I love cooking and look forward to every pay day so I can buy ingredients for a new recipe! I’m so glad I found your site. I’ve cooked several of your dishes and just love them. You’re my tried and true, go-to recipe site now. Thanks!
Could I use green bell peppers instead, that what I have right now?
Yes, that should be fine.

Planning on making this for dinner this week, but I just have one quick question….Does it matter whether the cooked rice is hot or cold? Thanks 🙂
Nicole – feel free to use cold rice. It just may take a little bit longer to heat through than using hot rice.
this was a great recipe I made it last night and my family I absolutely loved it it was so good I’m going to make this again and again and again and again thank you so much for the recipe
