Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps
These simple wraps comes together in less than 30 min, and it’s incredibly hearty, healthy and filling!
Before I became a stay-at-home blogger, Jason and I ate out almost every single day of the week. It was so much easier than cooking at home and then having to do the dishes thereafter. But after awhile, it became increasingly expensive and I quickly began to see some weight gain. So that’s how this blog actually came about – as a way to save money and to create a more healthier lifestyle for my family.
So I’ve teamed up with Cook Smarts for the month of September in their Meal Planning Awareness campaign. As money and resources are being wasted, along with the rise in obesity in the U.S., we want to teach home cooks how to easily plan delicious and healthy meals for the week in about 30 minutes, which is less time than it takes to eat just one meal out! Meal planning can seem a bit daunting but with the right tools and knowledge, you’ll have everything you need to succeed in the kitchen to live a healthy, happy lifestyle.
So I hope you’ll join me in my pledge to prepare 4 or more home cooked meals over eating out for 1 month, starting with these super easy turkey lettuce wraps.
If you’re like me, you’ll eat this by the spoonful!
Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground turkey
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 small onion, diced
- ¼ cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- ½ teaspoon freshly grated ginger
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 3 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 head butter lettuce
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium high heat.
- Add ground turkey and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes, making sure to crumble the turkey as it cooks; drain excess fat and set aside. Add garlic, bell pepper and onion to the saucepan. Cook, stirring frequently, until tender, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in hoisin sauce, soy sauce, ginger and ground turkey until well combined. Add rice and green onions and gently toss to combine.
- To serve, spoon several tablespoons of the turkey mixture into the center of a lettuce leaf, taco-style.

Lettuce wraps were a hit. I have 3 boys plus my husband… A very steak eating family. Trying to eat healthier. This is a good first step.
I love lettuce wraps and look forward to trying your version 🙂 They’re great because you can make a lot at one time and freeze dinner sized portions and then reheat them super easy. Voila, dinner! lol

I’ve made this several times now, and each time my youngest daughter asks if she can eat any of the leftovers, if there are any! 🙂 I am thankful for your photos, as I didn’t think to add the ground turkey back into the pan when you add the sauces in, as you don’t specify it in the recipe, which isn’t a big deal, but it just reaffirms for me why I like blogs that show the cooking process. 🙂
We’ve eaten this in romaine and iceberg lettuce, and have also tried it with plain flour tortilla shells (soft), and I’ve eaten it straight out of a bowl. It’s delicious any way it’s presented. Thank you!
I’m so glad you’ve made this. We make this about once a week – it’s just so easy! And thanks for the heads-up on the ground turkey – I just updated the recipe.

Wow! Great recipe. Quick, easy and delicious. Don’t be afraid to double the recipe if you are making this for a larger number of people. My modification was to add some shredded carrots and a dash of red pepper flakes.
Tonight’s dinner!
I’m making this recipe for dinner tonight! 🙂
Let me know how it turns out!
Whoa! Shows how long it has been since I’ve been reading blogs. You got a re-design! It looks great Chung-Ah! And these Turkey wraps oh man, do I love a lettuce wrap! Can’t wait to make these.
Pinning this!
And I think I get to meet you in a couple of weeks during your Iowa farm tour! You won’t be touring my farm, but I’m happy to share information about turkey farming with you!
We love cool Asian lettuce wraps and this is not exception, especially with healthy turkey as the star ingredient 🙂
Not only the food looks delicious, but it’s important that it is easy and fast to cook on week nights. Most people are so busy and very hard to find the time to shop and cook. Meal planning does help, but sometimes it’s even hard to do when our weekend is filled with all the activities. Your turkey lettuce wraps look healthy, delicious and easy to make!!! Love it!
I’m happy about this campaign. I cook practically every meal. Weeknight and Saturday dinners with enough leftovers for the following day’s lunch. Saves a lot of money doing that. Also, I had my first burrito experience in Melbourne 2 weeks ago. This Asian style burrito, I am most certainly down for.
It looks delicious! Thank you for the photos! (:
This looks so delicious!!! I want to try this VERY soon!!! YUM.
Great job! This looks so perfect and I love that infographic!
This recipe looks amazing! Thanks so much for helping us promote Meal Planning Awareness month too – it’s been going great.
Oh YAY! I’m so glad you enjoyed this recipe, Chung-Ah! Your wraps look just irresistible, and I love the idea of ground turkey instead of chicken. You’re makin’ me crave them all over again!
Thanks for the awesome recipe, Georgia! We really loved it!
I love lettuce wraps! Now I can make my own and skip the take-out.
