Sesame Ginger Salmon
A super easy and flavorful salmon dish chockfull of heart-healthy protein, vitamin A and omega-3 fatty acids!
So let’s talk salmon. Salmon is absolutely one of my favorite kinds of fish. It’s so versatile, so hearty, and so full of protein, vitamin A, and omega fatty acids, which are essential to the proper functioning of the heart and brain. I’m obviously not a salmon ambassador or anything – I just really like it, and when you prepare it with the right ingredients, you’ll have a hearty, healthy dish on your table in no time that your family will love!
Like with this simple ginger marinade here, the salmon soaks up all of the amazing Asian flavors before it gets baked to flaky perfection. And then you finish it off with that sweet honey ginger glaze with a hint of spiciness from the Sriracha because as you know, I have to add Sriracha to everything!
Sesame Ginger Salmon
Ingredients
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, pressed
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 4 green onions, thinly sliced
- 4 5-ounce salmon filets
For the Honey Ginger Glaze
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- ½ teaspoon Sriracha, or more, to taste
- ½ teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- ½ teaspoon sesame seeds
Instructions
- To make the glaze, whisk together honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, Sriracha, ginger and sesame seeds in a small bowl; set aside.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, sesame seeds and green onions.
- In a gallon size Ziploc bag or large bowl, combine ginger marinade and salmon filets; marinate for at least 30 minutes to overnight, turning the bag occasionally.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Lightly coat a 9x13 baking dish with nonstick spray.
- Place salmon filets along with the marinade onto prepared baking dish and bake until the fish flakes easily with a fork, about 20 minutes.
- Serve salmon immediately with honey ginger glaze.

This was such a pleasant yet light salmon recipe! Not too heavy, but filling all the same with the flavors I love. I wonder if this marinade would also work well for boneless, skinless chicken (please correct me if I’m wrong). I’ll have to add this recipe to my salmon rotation. 5 out of 5 stars!
The only salmon marinade I use now. Absolutely love it.
I make this salmon a couple times a year. My son takes a salmon fishing trip every summer. He stopped over on Friday with over 100 lbs, I smoke most of it, but he always asks that I set aside enough to make this recipe a few times. I’m making it tonight. We cook it on the grill. Damn Delicious!
This is now a favourite dinner in my home. Better than restaurant quality! I’ve tried it with rainbow trout as well and it was great. We always have it with rice and some kind of greens, like sauteed pea shoots.
So delicious! The entire family loved it. Will make again.
This is one of the best salmon recipes! I have made it over a dozen times! My family can’t even enough!
Absolutely Delicious! Thank You for sharing!
This is one of my favorite recipes! I usually double the glaze because everyone likes it so much.
Delicious! We put the marinated salmon filet (we used one entire half sockeye) skin side down on heavy duty foil with edges bent up and poured the marinade on top then grilled it until done. We also grilled broccoli and poured half of the glaze on the florets along with the salmon and served with steamed brown rice. I can’t wait to do this all over again.
Holy crap, this is one of the best things I’ve eaten haha. I didn’t change anything except putting the glaze on for the last 5 minutes. Perfection. I need to make this for my mom, because she’s always said she misses the ginger salmon they used to serve at the Chinese place in her old work cafeteria (she’s retired). I bet she’ll love this. Thanks for a great recipe.
Really good! Served on jasmine rice with a mixed green salad.
This marinade and glaze are out of this world. Absolutely phenomenal! I’ve been making it for years now and it always wows all who eat it.
My favorite marinade for salmon. Delicious and company worthy.
This was AMAZING! I used a full recipe of glaze for two salmon steaks as we love the extra sauce. I love many of the recipes of Damn Delicious.
Hubs and I love this salmon! I’ve made it in the oven and the smoker and it’s awesome each way. Making it for guests tomorrow and can’t wait!
Made this tonight. Soooo delish! Thank you!
Absolutely amazing! I used 1 less tablespoon of brown sugar in the marinade to avoid making it too sweet, and it was perfect. In the glaze, I used an extra drizzle of soy sauce and sriracha. I also grilled my salmon so I won’t put the green onions in the marinade next time, as they got a little charred. I served this with jasmine rice and roasted Brussels sprouts and drizzled everything with the glaze and it was to die for! My girls said it was one of the best meals ever!
Very good recipe, delicious!
I made this recipe last night for company and it was fabulous!!
Finally…a recipe that lives up to the hype. This salmon recipe is delicious with our without the glaze. I marinated the fish for exactly 30 minutes, and that was all it needed. I also didn’t have sesame seeds, and didn’t miss them at all.
