Sugared Cranberries
Incredibly simple and easy 2-ingredient sparkling sugared cranberries – perfect for holiday snacking or dressing up desserts!
Happy Monday! Or shall I say happy eve of Christmas eve? Jason and I are scrambling here trying to get ourselves packed to go to LA for the holidays. We’re also packing presents for his family of 8, including 3 kids, so we have a ton of presents that need transport. At this point, with all the wrapping and gifting I’m doing here, I feel like Santa Claus.
So in my Santa Claus mood, I thought it would be best to share these sparkling sugared cranberries. They’re incredibly easy to make with just 2 ingredients, and they’re perfect for dressing up desserts! Not only that, these tart and sweet cranberries are so perfect for holiday snacking. I’m sure even Santa would love these by the tree!

Just made these and they were extremely easy to make. I just cooked mine for 30 minutes and used 1/2 cup sugar for rolling them. Placed them in fridge for future use. Tastes delicious. Used remainder syrup and sugar to make cranberry syrup.
They turned out beautiful! I do have a question. Do you store in the refrigerator until ready to serve?
This was the second recipe I tried. The first recipe from someone else with not successful. This time I filtered my cranberries, removed any there were old or soft and what a world of difference that made. I put them into cold water and cooked them while the sugar dissolved for 3 to 4 minutes and then removed them. However since I had my experiment with the first batch I did not and I repeat I did not put them on any type of rack to drain. I simply put them on some parchment paper. Once again, what a world of difference it makes. I let them set the appropriate time and then I rolled them in sugar. Beautiful beautiful. For me it was time consuming but gorgeous and actually very delicious. Enjoy making them yourself.
HI! WHEN I MAKE THEM I ALSO PUT IN A SMALL AMOUNT OF LIGHT CORN SYRUP TO MAKE THEM ALL VERY STICKY BUT THAT WAY IS GOOD TOO!
Hi! I’m confused- you let them dry and then roll in the sugar? Will they be sticky enough? Mine are drying and they don’t feel Sticky. Thank you!!
I allow mine to soak for a few hours (in the fridge). Then drain and roll immediately.
These sugared cranberries were absolutely delicious! We made them as kids using eggwhite and sugar. It’s so important to find a recipe that’s healthy for you rather than risk salmonella with the eggwhites! I used your same simple syrup for rosemary sprigs when I was finished doing the cranberries, sugared them and they turned out looking like frosted pine. Just lovely with the sugared cranberries to garnish a cake!
Was fun to make specially for my popcorn string craft
Question? How long do these last? Like if stored in a container for snacking? Can the be stored long?
Fast and easy and makes a great decoration on a cake great as a snack too
I’d like to make this to add to a drink recipe. Is it ok to make days ahead of time and then freeze them and. Use them frozen in cocktail. ??should I freeze them flat or in a bowl? Ty! They look great!
These are delicious! Will they milt if I put them in the fridge overnight?
Love these and so simple and easy to make. I added cinnamon to this already perfect recipe. They were scrumptious.
Made these, they turned out exactly like the picture. Tart and sweet at the same time. Will make them again!
Great! Thank you! I wouls suggest starting with a cup of sugar for the last step. We had a lot left over.
I made something very similar to these sugared cranberries. I covered my cranberries with powder sugar and they were delicious. I stored some in the freezer. They are also delicious frozen!
I like your idea better. The sugared powder looks better. Did they freeze well?
I like the reqular sugared better, I made both. I made them as a garnish on an Egg Nog Bundt cake I made for Xmas.
I’m making a cake for my mom tomorrow and she wants sugared grapes on the cake for decoration. Could I follow this same recipe for the grapes???

Before Thanksgiving I was looking for a better way to serve cranberries that would actually be delicious. My Father-in-law loves cranberries so I had to find a recipe the satisfied everyone. This recipe not only filled the bill, they were such a big hit that I was asked to make them again for Christmas dinner. They are a great snack as well a great way to garnish a drink, wine, Champagne, etc. Best of all, they are super easy to make. It was also really nice to see the younger kids passing up the chips and dip to grab a handful of these cranberries. Mission accomplished!!! This recipe is a keeper.
Making now!
My children LOVE these and ask for them every Christmas! Thanks!
Yummy thanks for sharing!
I had a bag of frozen cranberries in the freezer and I wondered what I was going to do with them until I saw this! Saw your website on Pinterest and I am in heaven!!! I ended up heating the berries in the sugar solution for 2minuyes and after everything was done I threw them back in the freezer. My mom and I freeze everything, like sugared grapes for example, so I wanted to try it!!! These are sooo good!!! I made the frozen dog treats for my dogs too!!!
