Parmesan Garlic Spaghetti
5 ingredients. 20 minutes. With melted butter, garlic and freshly grated Parmesan. A winning combination for the ENTIRE family!
I know. It’s a brand spanking new year, and I should probably be posting some variation of a quinoa-kale-type salad.
But guys. It’s a new year.
I say, let’s eat more Parmesan, garlic and pasta. Drenched in browned butter, of course.
I mean this only has 5 ingredients. And then takes about 20 minutes to whip up.
It’s almost a crime to NOT be eating this every single day of 2016, right?
Parmesan Garlic Spaghetti
Ingredients
- 8 ounces spaghetti
- 10 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, optional
- ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
Instructions
- In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook pasta according to package instructions; drain well.
- In a medium saucepan, combine butter, garlic and red pepper flakes over medium heat until the butter has melted. Cook, whisking constantly, until the foam subsides and the butter begins to turn a golden brown, about 4-5 minutes, skimming foam as necessary.
- Remove from heat. Stir in pasta and Parmesan until well combined, about 2 minutes; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- Serve immediately, garnished with parsley, if desired.

I have fussy eaters in my home and wondered how this recipe would fare. Considering the kids like garlic bread I thought it might be ok. I added roast chicken to it to make it into a main meal. Turned out everyone loved it! I feel like a cheat, it was super easy and quick to make too!! Might have to be a staple in our house from now on!! Thank you Chungah!
Yummy
Quick and easy. Loved it. Combined it with grilled chicken in white sauce. Was a perfect starter for the day.
I have been eating this since I was 6 years old and still enjoying it at 31!!!
I’m going to make this tonight to go with my eggplant parmigiana, I think it will compliment the eggplant
Such a simple and great recipe! I added some broccoli to mine. I kept going back for seconds haha.
I tried making it with 8 tbsp of butter and it was still a lot for me. I’ll try less next time. I read someone tried virgin olive oil instead and would like to give it a shot as well. Just don’t know how much to use.
It was sooooo easy and delicious. I used spaghetti. I grilled some chicken and it was perfect dinner.
Sweet!
All my picky eaters loved it AND it really took only 20 minutes to make! Winner!!!!
I make this at least once per week. I love it!! I added it to my blog post on favorite recipes. Thanks!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing.
Damn delicious doesn’t come close . In fact a superlative doesn’t existed !
Haha thank you!
We made this tonight. Doubled the recipe and added peas. Delicious! Thank you!
Great!
We found that adding milk and flour really thickened up the sauce to make it almost perfect! It started off too thin and with a lot of butter but the flour and milk fixed the thinness issue.
idk where i went wrong. everything was going great until the end adding noodles and cheese. i bought an expensive block of parmesan i had to grate myself and it just balled up and all my noodles were sticking to the cheese…..and it’s swimming in butter so i’m going to try and add the flour and milk as another review mentioned. i’m sad as i’ve roasted a pan of veggies to go with this dish if consistency was there i’d say this is delicious
how to increase to feed 10?
You can double or triple the recipe as needed.
Hi, I just made this dish but I steamed asparagus and I used butter with olive oil and lemon juice to your recipe and it was awesome!
Four out of five of us loved it! I think my youngest might not be too fond of garlic. I used just one stick of butter and a full pound of spaghetti and I still felt like there was more butter than necessary. I might cut it down to 6 TB next time but there will be a next time. When she was done my daughter said, “My lips feel so moisturized.”
I made this as a side dish with fish it was a big hit. I used angel hair pasta. Quick and easy and very tasty.
Made this today for my 4 year old who loves noodles. I had to substitute basil with parsley as I didn’t have it at home. Also I used olive oil and butter. And I tried to chop up some broccoli finely so my daughter was forced to eat it. My daughter wasn’t too fond of the broccoli but she loved it. Thank you so much!
This sounds sooo yummy, but need to know if I can make it and keep in slow cooker on warm for Christmas dinner?
Thank you.
What a great idea! But unfortunately, without having tried it myself, I cannot answer with certainty – sorry!
Just made this and turned out pretty good. it’s soooooo yummyyyy
My husband said he could live on this!! This was really delicious. The only change I made was to add a bit more parmesan because we love it. Soooooo good. Thanks for a great recipe!
We can always add more Parmesan! 🙂
