Cheeseburger Grilled Cheese
This will basically be the best grilled cheese of your life – stacked with cheesy, meaty goodness! Perfect for a quick dinner!
Anything that involves the word “cheeseburger” is an automatic win.
For example, take cheeseburger pasta. Or a cheeseburger quesadilla.
And of course, there’s the classic actual cheeseburger.
So when I present you with this cheeseburger grilled cheese, no one loses in this one.
In fact, I think I like it better than a cheeseburger.
There’s no lettuce or tomatoes to get in the way!
It’s just meet, cheese, tomatoes and crisp, crusty-buttery bread.
Done.
Cheeseburger Grilled Cheese
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef*
- 1 1.25-ounce package taco seasoning
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 Roma tomatoes, diced
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 8 slices whole wheat bread
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add ground beef and cook until beef has browned, about 3-5 minutes, making sure to crumble the beef as it cooks; stir in taco seasoning. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in cheese and tomatoes until the cheese has just melted.
- With a butter knife, spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. Place 4 slices, buttered side down, on work surface. Divide ground beef mixture evenly on all slices. Top with remaining slices, buttered side up.
- Heat the skillet over low heat. Add sandwiches and cover; cook, turning once with a spatula, until golden brown and the cheese has completely melted, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Slice and serve immediately.

I tried this tonight and I love the method. Putting butter directly on the bread leaves a beautiful crust but I’ll change the spice mixture next time. Maybe a Montreal seasoning with bacon and cheddar.
Oh this looks so good! And it sounds really easy to make too, I must try this.
Okay, this was delicious. Didn’t have pickles, so we used home made sauerkraut instead. Mmm good! Also, you inspired me to create a donair grilled cheese sandwich with sweet sauce. So good! Thanks for your yummy recipes!

It looks delicious. Very nice post! Thank you so much!
these Grilled cheese sandwiches/burgers looks awesome. Very interested in the way you heat and cook everything in a pan before you put it on the bread. Instead of just putting it straight on the bread seperately. Will have to try it this way the nect time I make toasted sandwiches (:
I am so gonna make this tonight with turkey!
