Lemon Dill Salmon in Foil
Seriously dead-simple salmon cooked right in foil! 10 minutes prep. No clean-up! And you know lemon-dill flavors are THE BEST!
Greetings from Palm Springs!
We took a mini getaway to 109 degree weather for a little bit of R&R, except I’m the only one up at 6AM while everyone is sleeping in.
So that’s why I’m sharing my newest salmon in foil recipe.
Because I’m waiting for the rest of the peeps to wake up.
No, but really, I just had to share this ASAP as you know I love a good foil recipe.
It’s dead-simple with pretty much zero clean-up.
You know the deal.
Serve in the foil, and you’re set. Plus, you know you can’t go wrong with lemon and dill!
Lemon Dill Salmon in Foil
Ingredients
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¼ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried dill, or more, to taste
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 pounds salmon
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with foil.
- In a small bowl, whisk together butter, lemon juice, lemon zest, garlic, dill, salt and pepper, to taste.
- Place salmon onto prepared baking sheet and fold up all 4 sides of the foil. Spoon the butter mixture over the salmon. Fold the sides of the foil over the salmon, covering completely and sealing the packet closed.
- Place into oven and bake until cooked through, about 15-20 minutes.
- Serve immediately, garnished with dill, if desired.

The taste is wonderful!! I really loved making this for my family. It did take quite a bit longer than 15-20min to cook through though.
Perfection! The best simple recipe for salmon I have found. Will definitely be using this recipe in the future!
My go to salmon recipe. Perfect every time!
This is the PERFECT salmon! I have tried so many recipes and this is the absolute best I’ve made. I am so grateful you shared this with the world – my significant other who really never liked cooked salmon now loves bringing a piece home every time he goes grocery shopping! We spoon the cooked marinade/sauce over a side of brown rice and it’s delicious. Thank you again!! I will never cook salmon any other way.
Love this recipe! I like to also mix in some sour cream for a creamy sauce with the same ingredients. I do cook my salmon for longer than this but about 10-15 mins but I get large chunks.
So quick and easy! Used a smaller piece of salmon so halved the other ingredients. Only changes I made were using softened butter instead of melted and using double the portion of fresh dill instead of dried. The softened butter makes it easy to spread all over the surface of the salmon and keeps the garlic and dill on top for a lovely presentation. Took 12 minutes to cook total
This is going into the easy weeknight meal file for sure as everyone loved it!
Made this tonight. Amazing! I used fresh dill. So flavorful!!! Will definitely be making this all winter. I usually only eat salmon when I can grill it.
So easy and yummy. I adjusted the time and cooked it for 35minutes at 365. Makes for great left overs the next day.
I substituted olive oil for butter because my husband has a heart condition. It was delicious.
I have made this twice now and both times it has been delicious!! I used frozen salmon from Walmart and cooked it at 450° C for about 40 to 50 minutes and came out perfect! I keep posting it on my Facebook and several people have asked for the recipe so I send them this way!
Question: I see the lemons have a nice brown coloring too them, did you do that in a pan before adding them to the salmon to back in the packet?
Its good. But, 20 minutes at 375 is not right. I had to jack it up to 400 for an additional 15 mi utes before it was done. 2lbs of salmon is alot of salmon for just 15 to 20 minutes
I picked this receipt to try because of its simplicity and quick prep/cook time. The easy clean up was just a bonus. Bottom line it was Excellent! The combined flavors on the ingredients exceeded my expectations. In fact, I spooned the left over mixture on top of steamed cauliflower that complimented the entire meal. I love this site, it’s Damn Delicious.
This was fantastic! Used fresh dill vs dry because that’s all I had. It turned out perfectly! I had a 3 lb cut and cooked at 350 for about 28 min 🙂
Fantastic! Why am I not surprised, a few basic ingredients and fresh dill as well, loved it! I typically poach salmon, broiled a few times also. But for some reason I’ve never done salmon in foil. Compared to poaching, this is much easier to clean up too, always a bonus. Thank you much!
Flipping eck! It was brill. Thanks. Served with new potatoes and asparagus. Just one tip, don’t overdo the lemon juice as can make it taste sour.
This recipe is one of my favorites. I’ve only tried it once but will definitely be using it again. My boyfriend gave about the salmon. The ingredients was portioned just right. My salmon turned out moist and flaky.
I give this recipe 5 stars!!!
Thank you so much!
Wow…looks awesome ….will be making this for dinner.
Maybe only rate it if you made it.
This recipe is absolutely delicious. Ive made this twice and have so far converted three salmon haters. Excellent!
Hi Chungah,
I just love this recipe. It’s now the only way I make salmon. I never use the fresh dill because it’s not something I usually have on hand. I just now always make sure I have lots of Dill cause I probably make this almost once a week. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of eating this. I love your recipes. I recommend you to all my friends. I’ve tried several of them and they never disappoint. Keep em coming.
Thank you, Lydia!
