Honey Buffalo Wings with Homemade Ranch
So crispy, so sticky, so finger-licking amazing!!! Plus, the homemade Ranch? MIND BLOWN. Pass the beer, please!!!
You guys know how much I love Game Day food. Just give me all the finger-licking goodness because you know I ain’t watching the game.
Nope, my eyes are glued to the ice cold beers and the sticky, glossy, super-saucy, honey buffalo wings, waiting to be dunked, smothered and fully swimming in that homemade Ranch.
Serve with celery sticks, extra beers and lots of napkins. They’ll come in handy!
Side note: You can, of course, use store-bought Ranch if you’re short on time but seriously, nothing beats the homemade version.
Honey Buffalo Wings with Homemade Ranch
Ingredients
- 3 pounds chicken wings or drumettes
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 ½ tablespoons baking powder
- ½ cup tomato sauce
- ⅓ cup hot sauce, such as Cholula
- ¼ cup honey
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
For the Ranch dipping sauce
- ½ cup sour cream
- ¼ cup buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- ⅓ cup chopped fresh chives
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Coat a wire rack with nonstick spray and place on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil; set aside.
- Using paper towels, pat wings dry. In a large bowl, combine wings, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, 1 teaspoon pepper and baking powder.
- Place wings onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 40-45 minutes, using metal tongs to turn at halftime.
- In a small saucepan over medium low heat, combine tomato sauce, hot sauce, honey, butter, Worcestershire, onion powder and garlic powder. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, stirring constantly, until slightly thickened, about 15-20 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine wings and half the tomato sauce mixture. Place wings onto the prepared baking sheet and bake, turning once, until glossy and lightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in remaining tomato sauce mixture.
- Serve immediately with Ranch dipping sauce.
For the Ranch dipping sauce
- In a medium bowl, whisk together sour cream, buttermilk, mayonnaise, chives, dill, onion powder and garlic powder; season with salt and pepper, to taste. Place in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Finger licking delish; thank you. Cheers.
This recipe is perfect! I love the addition of the tomato paste because it makes the sauce nice and thick :3 Oh and the ranch dressing is a must to try out! My friends and family can’t get enough of it, so I have to make it almost every week. Thanks for sharing the recipe♡♡Truly the best
ever.
I’m adapting this to my Air Fryer. Getting older don’t like it to spicy. This sauce is perfect.
This is the best wing recipe ever. My 10yr.. old picky-eater grandson can’t get enough of them.
Just made these for Super Bowl Sunday and they were SO good. I love all of your recipes but this one was particularly fantastic.
Love these wings, I must say they turn out better each time I make them. I love crispy hot wings and this does not disappoint. They are fall off the bone tender and the dipping sauce is an added great bonus.
This recipe turns out great everytime I make it. I do vary the seasoning on the wings based on our likes. But they are always crispy & delicious.! Thank you for sharing.
What kind of tomato sauce should I use?
I want to make this with chicken drumsticks, what adjustments would you suggets?
Going to make!!
Is it tomato sauce
Or tomato paste
?
Excellent!!! Love your recipes!!!
Delicious wings! Followed directions exactly & ended with some damn delicious wings. Thanks so much for the recipe. Hands down I get my favorite online recipes from this site. Keep ‘em coming your recipes are easy & wonderful.
Another 5 *s for this chicken wing recipe. Wait, what? There’s was a ranch dressing too? Didn’t need it. Made it, but promptly forgot about it after the first bite into the succulent wings.
Thanks Chungah and team for finding one good recipe after another.
* Used the ranch on my salad later in the week. Yummers
This sounds so good. I do however have a question. I found another recipe that called for mixing flour with baking powder, but it did say no salt. The salt draws out the moisture in the chicken and dries out the chicken. What ids your opinions on this. I will however try this recipe, because everyone of your recipes that I have tried have been delicious.
this sounds so
What a great idea! But unfortunately, without having tried this myself, I cannot answer with certainty. But if you get a chance to try it, please let me know how it turns out! Good luck! 🙂
I adore homemade ranch!! How long do you think it would last in the fridge? Thank you for the amazing recipe!
As I am not an expert on food safety, I cannot really say with certainty. Methods for optimal food storage and shelf life should be based on good judgment and what you are personally comfortable with. Hope that helps, Becky!
This is truly, hands down, the BEST wing recipe EVER!! My husband couldn’t stop raving about them and said they were better than ANY wing house restaurant!!! If you don’t like “spicy” I wouldn’t use the whole 1/2 cup of hot sauce…I loved it but it did leave a “bite”
I want to make this for my 3 year old toddler. What can I substitute the hot sauce with to make the chicken not as spicy but still flavorful? Thank you.
Unfortunately, the hot sauce is a key ingredient in this recipe so I do not recommend omitting or substituting.
But you can try this recipe instead that may suit your toddler a little better! 🙂
what does the baking powder do to the wings
When mixed with salt and coated on chicken, it dries out the skin, leaving it super crispy and crunchy. 🙂
So damn delicious! I made these last night for game 1 of the World Series and they were a huge hit! Thank you!
We are so glad these were such a hit! They’re so great for Game Day! 🙂
