Carne Asada Fries
There’s no need to go to San Diego for these fries. You can easily make this right at home, loaded with carne asada, guacamole, pico de gallo and sour cream!
When Jason and I make trips to San Diego, we never leave until we have a plate of carne asada fries. But sometimes we just don’t have the time to make it out there and fulfill our cravings. So when the kind folks over at CravOn sent me a sample of their fries to review, I knew I just had to recreate these fries.
Now these fries have actually never been fried and has 50% less fat than traditional frozen fries. It has all of the artery-clogging goodness fries have without actually the fried-ness! And when you top these babies off with carne asada, sour cream, and freshly made guacamole and pico de gallo, you won’t be able top stop eating this until it’s all gone. Jason and I were fighting for the last bite until we realized we just needed to make more!

Disclosure: CravOn provided me with a deluxe tasting package with 4 cuts of fries for review. All opinions expressed are my own.
We made this tonight and it was amazing! The meat was so tender and flavorful! My only regret is that we didn’t make more!
This is really for your carne asada recipe, because I found that recipe first and just naturally made these with it. That marinade is hands-down the best I’ve ever had. Including anywhere in a restaurant. The flavor is really that good! Thank you for sharing.
Dear Chung-ah, there are no fries by that name here, but I cut my fries from peeled potatoes, with a mandolin, also I marinade my own Carne Asada, with grapefruit, lemon, and lime, a lot of Mexican restaurants use oranges, it tastes better with my combination of citrus fruits, try it yourself, you’ll probably realize it too. Thank you.
The Ones I Usually Get In San Diego Have Hot Sauce.. Sour Cream Salsa Steak .. Guacamole And Cheese .. Is This Recipe The Same
It’s pretty close! 🙂
This carne asada recipe is heavenly. The fries are an okay thing, but the meat is INCREDIBLE! Will be difficult to ever eat chicken or regular taco meat again. Thank you!
We have a little taco dive here that makes these and I thought they were original to them – so fun to see they are a famous food. I crave them weekly and it will be fun to make my own!
Which type of fries can I use other than CravOn – do not have CravOn where I live.
Do you have a recipe for cooking “Carne Asada” ? I would like to make my own..
Again, do not have ready cooked “Carne Asada” in local stores..
This recipes looks delicious to serve my family & friends.

Olga, you can use any other brand of frozen fries of your choice. As for the carne asada, here is a recipe of mine that I truly love: https://damndelicious.net/2019/05/05/carne-asada/.
These look great! My husband and I are actually going to San Diego in a couple weeks…where do you get the fries there???
We usually go to Lolita’s!
Any Mexican resturants has it. You have to try it out
We LOVE carne asada fries too. You usually get them with melted cheese on top. Do you season your own carne asada or buy it? If you make your own, I’d love your recipe.
Sometimes I buy pre-marinated carne asada, depending on how much time I really have to cook. But I do have a homemade version that I absolutely love – https://damndelicious.net/2011/06/14/carne-asada/.
