M&M Cookies
Soft, chewy cookies loaded with colorful M&M’s – a batch of cookies that both kids and grown-ups will love!
The #SundaySupper team and I are bringing you our favorite holiday cookie recipes today. And with much thought and brainstorming, I couldn’t help but bring M&M cookies to the table.
I’m not sure about you guys but I can’t think of a single person who would turn down M&M’s. And when you add these colorful chocolate candies to a cookie, how can anyone really say no?
The best part about these cookies is that you can add whatever mix-ins your sweet tooth desires. So if you’re craving even more chocolate, throw in some more chocolate chips. I could even imagine swirling in some dulce de leche or salted caramel next time. Mmmmm.
You could also pack these up in cookie tins and give them to your friends and neighbors – they’ll be over the moon for these!
M&M Cookies
Ingredients
- 2 ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
- ½ cup shortening
- ½ cup sugar
- ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup M&M’s
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat; set aside.
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt.
- In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat butter, shortening and sugars on medium-high until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Beat in vanilla until well combined. Beat in eggs, one at a time, until well combined. Gradually add flour mixture to sugar mixture at low speed, beating just until incorporated. Gently fold in M&M’s.
- Drop tablespoons of batter onto prepared baking sheet. Place into oven and bake until edges are golden brown but center is still moist, about 9-10 minutes.
- Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.

Excellent!!
Had as dessert for a family gathering.
Bought a honey baked ham. Then I used the slow cooker scalloped potatoes and the cranberry punch from the recipes. Huge hit all around. Thank you
The cookies came out great! My neighbor is going to be 4 years old so I thought they would be a welcome treat.
In Florida, I have to account for humidity when baking cookies. These turned out great- I keep the batter in the fridge between batches- I may add 1/4 cup of flour next time.
My granddaughter requested these for a 3 day trip to the beach. They were my favorite at her age too. I just have a standard hand held mixer so didn’t have the paddle attachment. Followed recipe exactly and they came out great! They do spread some but I think it’s just the nature of this type of cookie. Don’t overcrowd on cookie sheet and you’re good to go.
The perfect recipe I’ve tried so many trying to find the perfect one chewy not crisp sweet but not too sweet these are perfection. I made them for my cookie trays and now I don’t want to share them lol I cannot wait to make them with chocolate chips as well. Is there anywhere there is calorie information not that I really want to know but lol
I’m so glad you enjoyed these! I wouldn’t want to share either!
Nutritional information, however, is provided only for select and new recipes at this time. But if it is not available for a specific recipe, you can always use free online resources at your discretion (you can Google “nutritional calculator”). Hope that helps!
I tried this recipe and they spread so far apart. Like I have 5″ cookies on my hands. Next time I will cut the shortening, butter and salt by at least half!
To prevent cookies from spreading too much, it is best not to overmix the butter and sugar for too long, and making sure your measurements are exact.
Hi, so if I dont have an electric mixer with a paddle, a regular mixer would be okay or what do you recommend to get the same texture?
Yes, a regular mixture should work just fine. Be sure to use the paddle attachments though – not the dough hooks or the whisk attachments.
