Garlic Ranch Mashed Potatoes
All you need is 5 ingredients and 10 min prep work for the BEST and EASIEST mashed potatoes ever! A must for the holidays!
The weather fluctuates anywhere from 60-80 here. I feel like it’s Christmas time at one point in the day, yet when 2PM rolls around, I’m walking around in flip flops.
But whether it’s winter or summer or whatever season it is right now in Los Angeles, I just know that I am so ready for Thanksgiving.
Mainly because of this here. AKA, the best mashed potatoes ever, hands down. With only 5 ingredients, of course.
I’m not even joking. This is really the absolute best because at the end of the day, nothing is going to top that Ranch Seasoning with melted butter.
Nothing.
Garlic Ranch Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients
- 2 pounds red potatoes
- 4 cloves garlic, peeled
- 1 1-ounce package Ranch Seasoning and Salad Dressing Mix
- ⅓ cup half and half*, or more, as needed
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
Instructions
- Place potatoes and garlic in a large stockpot or Dutch oven; cover with cold water. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, cover and simmer until potatoes are tender, about 10-12 minutes. Drain well and return to the stockpot.
- Add Ranch Seasoning, half and half and butter; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- Using an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, blend potatoes until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. If the mixture is too thick, add more half and half as needed until desired consistency is reached.
- Serve immediately, garnished with chives, if desired.

I have made this to many times to count. My girlfriend use to brag about her mashed potatoes. She made some the other day and brought over hers. I of course praised her on how wonderful they were. She looked at me and said. Ever since I have had your mashed potatoes mine just taste bland…BOOM…I didnt crack a smile or say anything than oh no yours are really good…the whole time you what this dude was thinking.
These look amazing! I make just about everything in the crock pot, so can these also be made in the crock pot, if so what would you recommend for the directions?
Made this recipe “as is” and it was a huge hit with our family! No leftovers! I wouldn’t change a thing about it! Thank you for sharing 🙂
You have to do these and add in some cream cheese. You haven’t had mashed potatoes until youve added cream cheese!
Doing these tonight, but since I only have buttermilk on hand, that’s what I’m using. We’ll see! Already have the panko crumbs for the fried bites tomorrow.
Half cream and half milk is what we Yanks call HALF & HALF. In my book, the more cream, the better. Maybe I should market 3\4 & 1\4 instead.
Does anyone know what half and half is in Australia?
These are calling my name. They looks amazing!
Instead of using a mixer, can it be mashed with a stick blender making less washing up???
Yes, absolutely.
These look so good! So excited to try them!
Hi…are you mashing/blending the garlic as well with the other ingredients or do you discard it after its boiled with the potatoes?
You can blend the garlic or omit as needed – it’s up to you!
These mashed potatoes look so creamy! Just yummy!
