Spicy Parmesan Shrimp Pasta
So flavorful, so spicy and so easy to put together, perfect for those busy weeknights!
I’ve been somewhat obsessed with skillet dishes. It takes minutes to put together and Jason and I get a kick out of eating it right out of the pan. Hey, we don’t even have a dining table so you could imagine us just shoving our heads together into a skillet on our coffee table. And that’s exactly what happened with this shrimp pasta.
This shrimp pasta comes together so easily with just a handful of pantry ingredients. Just be sure to prepare yourself for a 30 minute marinade. You can even make the marinade the night before so it’s ready to use for dinnertime. Once that’s ready, throw everything into a skillet, add your cooked pasta and that’s it. Done and done. Easy enough, right?
But don’t be fooled by the ease of this recipe. It’s incredibly flavorful and wonderfully spicy. If you’re not a fan of the heat, just cut down on the red pepper flakes. A little bit goes a long way.
Spicy Parmesan Shrimp Pasta
Ingredients
- ⅓ cup olive oil
- ¼ cup Parmesan cheese
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes, or more, to taste
- 1 pound medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 8 ounces penne
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 green onion, thinly sliced
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together olive oil, Parmesan, garlic, brown sugar, soy sauce and red pepper flakes. In a gallon size Ziploc bag or large bowl, combine shrimp and olive oil mixture; marinate for at least 30 minutes to overnight, turning the bag occasionally.
- In large pot of boiling salted water, cook pasta according to package instructions; drain well.
- Heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add shrimp and sauce mixture and cook, stirring occasionally, until pink, about 2 minutes. Stir in pasta and gently toss to combine; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- Serve immediately, garnished with Parmesan and green onions, if desired.

I will try to cook this tomorrow, thanks for sharing. I’m your fan now
I’m a bit disappointed to find adapting means adding a tsp more sugar and changing from whole wheat to regular penne. It’s a delicious recipe but it seems a bigger credit to How Sweet It Is could be given.
Made this and the flavour was out of this world good!! Love this recipe!
Absolutely delicious, so easy to make with few ingredients! Definitely will be making it again! I already shared this recipe with some friends and family. We squeezed lime juice once on our plates, added some zing! Thanks again!
This was absolutely amazing! I doubled the sauce per some recs I read. The flavor was outstanding and it was SO easy to make. This is going in our recipe tin! Thank you!!!

Absolutely delicious! I sliced black olives and cherry tomatoes to add once plated. They were a great complement to the dish, along with the green onions. This recipe is a keeper.
Have made this recipe many times for family and it is a hit. We add mushrooms and spinach to the shrimp near the end of cooking. I also strongly recommend adding parsley
We love this dish! Can I add scallops to it? Would they cook at the same time frame?
So I need to start out by saying I’m kinda picky. I swear the majority Im of the time I try new recipes I end up disappointed so in turn I don’t try new recipes all that often. This was so easy and so yummy! I added more parmasean because I’m part rat and love cheese. Thank for for an amazing dinner! This is definitely gonna be made again!
I’m so bummed. I accidentally used teriyaki Nate as of soy sauce. We’ll see how it turns out tonight. I am sure I will make it again. Thanks for your wonderful recipes!
I’ve cooked Italian dishes much more time consuming than this for the family that didn’t receive no where near the love. I was skeptical when I saw the ingredients but trust me it works.
Looking for something different with shrimp scampi and found this and gave it a try. I’ve liked many of your other recipes. My son came for dinner and we were both so pleased. SOOOO delicious! Thank you for sharing.

Made this for dinner tonight for the first time. So damn delicious. Followed the recipe, except I doubled it because we like leftovers. Really flavorful, and so easy. Will be new go to.
Easy and delicious, will make more othen.
made this as a quick dinner in Tx for my fiancé and he loved it! quick and easy (although I did have trouble trying to figure out what an ‘actual’ garlic clove was). I’m making it this evening for my Alaskan friends and we will see what they think. I’m thinking about adding chicken to the recipe.
