Cheesecake Factory Avocado Egg Rolls
Just like the restaurant-version, except it’s so much cheaper to make right at home and it tastes a million times better too!
We don’t eat out at Cheesecake Factory very often but when we make a visit there once in a blue moon for a big family gathering or celebration, these avocado egg rolls are always a must. And when the plate hits the table, we’re all fighting for the last one. Except, no one wants to be the person to actually grab the last egg roll. We all say, “Oh no, it’s all yours,” but we secretly want it all for ourselves.
Or is that just me?
Now if you are one of those peoples, then have no fear – here’s a homemade version that you can make right in the comfort of your own kitchen. And you can grab that last egg roll guilt free! Just be sure to keep an extra stash somewhere in the kitchen where no one else can find it.
But the best part about this recipe is not only does it taste a million times better than the restaurant version but it’s also unbelievably easy to make and so much cheaper to make right at home. Simply combine your avocado mixture, which is very close to guacamole, throw them in an egg roll wrapper and then into the skillet until they’re wonderfully crisp and golden brown.
Done and done.
These came together in just 20 minutes, and we devoured them in less than 5. It was so good, we made them again the very next day! And I’m sure they’ll be back on the menu this week. But I may just have to make them when Jason isn’t home because I am in no mood to share these.
Cheesecake Factory Avocado Egg Rolls
Ingredients
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 3 avocados, halved, peeled and seeded
- 1 Roma tomato, diced
- ¼ cup diced red onion
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro leaves
- Juice of 1 lime
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 8 egg roll wrappers
For the cilantro dipping sauce
- ¾ cup fresh cilantro leaves, loosely packed
- ⅓ cup sour cream
- 1 jalapeno, seeded and deveined, optional
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 clove garlic
- Juice of 1 lime
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- To make the cilantro dipping sauce, combine cilantro, sour cream, jalapeno, mayonnaise, garlic and lime juice in the bowl of a food processor; season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium high heat.
- In a medium bowl, gently mash avocados using a potato masher. Add tomato, red onion, cilantro, lime juice, salt and pepper, to taste, and gently toss to combine.
- Working one at a time, place avocado mixture in the center of each wrapper. Bring the bottom edge of the wrapper tightly over the filling, folding in the sides. Continue rolling until the top of the wrapper is reached. Using your finger, rub the edges of the wrapper with water, pressing to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers and avocado mixture.
- Working in batches, add egg rolls to the Dutch oven and fry until evenly golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
- Serve immediately with cilantro dipping sauce.

Can you bake these
The dipping sauce was so delicious! it really complimented the avocado egg roll well. I think this sauce would go well with many dishes. I have made many recipes on this site and they have all been 5 stars!
I made these exactly as stated for an honest review. As is, and my HO, too much lime in both the rolls and dipping sauce. The eggroll wrappers were a bit thick for me and I didn’t like the dipping sauce at all.
With my changes, I decreased the lime a lot (probably 1/2 tsp), used Lumpia wraps, added a dash of Chipotle seasoning, and a dash of lemon pepper. I made my own sauce – one part sweet chili and one part Kikkoman teriyaki glaze.
I used this recipe for a Christmas party a few years ago and they were a huge hit. SOOOOO yummy.
I loved these SO much. Even the sauce is to die for! I replaced the onions with shallots 🙂 My family loved these and I would definitely make these again.
I baked the egg rolls. But avocados come out through the egg roll sheet, as they are very thin. What can I do to prevent that.
fry them
Do you think I can make these and freeze them? Will they still be good??
Can you add cooked, crumbled pork to these egg rolls?
Perfect fun little recipie. Took about 30 minutes (so I wasn’t starving by the time it was done). Careful w the oil temp and frying too long. Everything was delicious
! The dip I will use for other things and the egg rolls make for a filling post workout small meal. I added some shredded cheese and a lil jerk sauce
OMG…Made these tonight and holy smokes they’re so good! Thank you for the amazing recipe – this is one of our favorites from Cheesecake Factory and this totally hit the spot!
Let me start out by saying; I am not a fan of avocados or cilantro. Now with that said I saw these and something said “you need to try these” Damn it you take good pictures. They looked so amazing. So I tried them. They are really easy to make and they are (pause for dramatic effect)….DELICIOUS!!!! I am now hooked on avocados and cilantro!!!! Thank you for showing me the light 😉
These avacado rolls are amazing! They were so easy to make as well! Instead of the cilantro dipping sauce, I mixed Greek yogurt, sweet chili sauce and siracha together. This is definitely my go to, easy week night meal from now on!
I cannot open your video. It doesn’t work why?????
and also where can i find egg wraps please???
The CIlantro Dipping Sauce was great but not what The Cheesecake Factory serves with this appetizer. I used tortilla chips to consume the dipping sauce and went with Chinese Sweet Chili Sauce for the avocado egg rolls which is a good substitute for the Cheesecake Factory Tamarind-Cashew dipping sauce..
These look absolutely mouthwatering, can’t wait to make some.
Has anyone tried cooking these in an air fryer instead of frying in the dutch oven? They look pretty low calorie otherwise…
Did you end up trying the air fryer? I am thinking about doing it that way as well
Same question!!! I want to make these this weekend but with air fryer
I just made these today. So yummy! I had extra egg roll wrappers and I wanted to use them with ingredients I had on hand. This recipe fit perfectly. I made burrito bowls this weekend so I had left over homemade salsa. I added that to the avocado. So simple and delicious! Thanks!
I fully intend on making these soon and appreciate the freshness of these ingredients, but I’m wondering if the tomato is correct. I remember the egg rolls having a slight sweetness to them that I don’t think comes from the Avocado.
Have you ever considered using a sun dried tomato? I think that is the kind of flavor I remember and am sure they would still like be really tasty.
What a great idea! I will definitely have to try that next time.
These were yummy!! I did cheat a little and bought premade guacamole from the store for the filling. The dipping sauce was delicious! I’m printing this one to keep.
Only 288 calories? I’m going to have to try this! Thanks for sharing!
