Cheesecake Factory Avocado Egg Rolls
Just like the restaurant-version, except it’s so much cheaper to make right at home and it tastes a million times better too!
We don’t eat out at Cheesecake Factory very often but when we make a visit there once in a blue moon for a big family gathering or celebration, these avocado egg rolls are always a must. And when the plate hits the table, we’re all fighting for the last one. Except, no one wants to be the person to actually grab the last egg roll. We all say, “Oh no, it’s all yours,” but we secretly want it all for ourselves.
Or is that just me?
Now if you are one of those peoples, then have no fear – here’s a homemade version that you can make right in the comfort of your own kitchen. And you can grab that last egg roll guilt free! Just be sure to keep an extra stash somewhere in the kitchen where no one else can find it.
But the best part about this recipe is not only does it taste a million times better than the restaurant version but it’s also unbelievably easy to make and so much cheaper to make right at home. Simply combine your avocado mixture, which is very close to guacamole, throw them in an egg roll wrapper and then into the skillet until they’re wonderfully crisp and golden brown.
Done and done.
These came together in just 20 minutes, and we devoured them in less than 5. It was so good, we made them again the very next day! And I’m sure they’ll be back on the menu this week. But I may just have to make them when Jason isn’t home because I am in no mood to share these.
Cheesecake Factory Avocado Egg Rolls
Ingredients
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 3 avocados, halved, peeled and seeded
- 1 Roma tomato, diced
- ¼ cup diced red onion
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro leaves
- Juice of 1 lime
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 8 egg roll wrappers
For the cilantro dipping sauce
- ¾ cup fresh cilantro leaves, loosely packed
- ⅓ cup sour cream
- 1 jalapeno, seeded and deveined, optional
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 clove garlic
- Juice of 1 lime
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- To make the cilantro dipping sauce, combine cilantro, sour cream, jalapeno, mayonnaise, garlic and lime juice in the bowl of a food processor; season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium high heat.
- In a medium bowl, gently mash avocados using a potato masher. Add tomato, red onion, cilantro, lime juice, salt and pepper, to taste, and gently toss to combine.
- Working one at a time, place avocado mixture in the center of each wrapper. Bring the bottom edge of the wrapper tightly over the filling, folding in the sides. Continue rolling until the top of the wrapper is reached. Using your finger, rub the edges of the wrapper with water, pressing to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers and avocado mixture.
- Working in batches, add egg rolls to the Dutch oven and fry until evenly golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
- Serve immediately with cilantro dipping sauce.

These look delicious. Could I make them ahead of time and reheat them? If so, how would you recommend doing it?
Just love these! Cheesecake Factory has huge portions but this is the one thing that always seems scant. We can never have enough of these..
I absolutely LOVE these, that’s a big part of why I go to CCF. I’ve moved, and the closest one to me now is hundreds of miles away. I half heartedly searched for the recipe, not expecting to find anything. I can’t wait to make them myself!
These came out really good. Only thing i would change is not as much lime juice, mine were pretty limey, almost overpowered the other flavors. But all in all, they were delicious!
We don’t have a Cheesecake factory here 🙁 I would like to try these for a cold buffet. Does the pastry stay crisp once they are cold? Im guessing they’re gone before they cool down as they look amazing but if you know that would be great!
Yum! Now I know what to do with the dozens of avocados falling off my tree. Thanks
Just made these and they were amazing! I have never been to the CF, but can’t imagine theirs being any better!
Do you think these could be done in the oven (spray with olive oil and place the oven on broil, then flip and repeat) without deep frying them? Always trying to find a healthier alternative!
Look so delicious and will try them next week. Thanks for the nice pics also. Love this site!
These look amazing. It’s amazing what wonderful things you can make by putting stuff in egg roll wrappers. I make cheese egg rolls and serve them with taco soup Can’t wait to try making these.
There is no way that I will go to the Cheesecake Factory and not order these. They are simply yummie! Now I have to try this recipe!
I absolutely love these! Question though, this looks like a creamy sauce…our Cheesecake Factory serves them with a clear green sauce…that is almost like a sweet green chili sauce?
Hi, The recipe sounds great. I was wondering how much oil to use when frying. Are you deep frying these or just coating the bottom of the dutch oven with oil? I hope its the latter.
Thanks
Can these be fried a day before – then heat them up in the oven?
I was wondering the same thing. Ours serves it with the same sweet, clear sauce with something green (possibly cilantro). It definitely doesn’t have sour cream in it.
thanks so much for the recipe. When I go to the Cheesecake that is the one thing i have to order.
i was wondering if there was a healthier way to make them maybe in the oven? instead of frying
thanks
Kylielyn
I would use heart healthy coconut oil to fry them in.
Is there a good dairy free option to the cilantro sauce?
Today I was try to make Avocado Egg Roll and really amazing, I love it so much! Thanks for sharing xxxxx
Also- I don’t have a food processor at the time- can I use a blender instead?
Sounds yummy! But I don’t have a Dutch oven, how can I make these without it??
Found this recipe yesterday while doing a google search for egg roll recipes. Tried it as soon as I got home and they were simply amazing! I wanted to take a picture to post on Instagram but my family ate them too fast!
The picture totally looks like there is bacon in there. I had to read the recipe 3 times to see if i’m seeing things or not. I am, but I am totally going to try these with just a little strip of bacon in each. Mmmm Bacon.
I have to ask… I tried making a grilled sandwich once with avocado, but due to the heat it rendered the avocado tasteless and the sandwich ended up in the bin. How do you manage to fry these egg rolls crispy brown and still have the avocado taste yummy? Is there a trick I don’t know?
Tanya, I’m not sure if there’s any trick to it but the avocado here surely isn’t tasteless!
