PF Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps

A copycat recipe that you can easily make right at home in just 20 minutes. And it tastes a million times better too!
I am such a sucker for lettuce wraps. They are so low in carbs so I become a bottomless pit, stuffing my face without any kind of guilt. And when it’s an exact PF Chang’s replica that can be made in 20 minutes or less – well, that just means I’m having this 5 times a week.
I kid you not. This is the easiest, quickest meal you could ever make. And if you’re quick in the kitchen, you could even get this on the dinner table in less than 15 minutes. Plus, it’s budget-friendly and you can easily double or triple the recipe as needed. What more could you ask for?
PF Chang's Chicken Lettuce Wraps
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, diced
- ¼ cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon Sriracha, optional
- 1 (8-ounce) can whole water chestnuts, drained and diced
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 head butter lettuce

Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Add ground chicken and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes, making sure to crumble the chicken as it cooks; drain excess fat.
- Stir in garlic, onion, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, ginger and Sriracha until onions have become translucent, about 1-2 minutes.
- Stir in chestnuts and green onions until tender, about 1-2 minutes; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- To serve, spoon several tablespoons of the chicken mixture into the center of a lettuce leaf, taco-style.

just made these for dinner tonight and they were sooo good. I used 3/4 tsp of ground ginger instead of real ginger. 1 cup of “ready to eat” edamame instead of the water chestnuts since I’m not a fan. My husband couldn’t stop raving about this dish. Had it with a side of frozen gyoza and the 2 of us gobbled everything down.
Replaced chicken by veal and added crispy Chinese noodles. Delicious.
I have made this two nights in a row! Can’t get enough!! My aunt gave me a good tip…….
TIP: DOUBLE the SAUCE ingredients including the siracha
I made the PF Change lettuce wraps two nights (or nites) in a row! My husband can’t get enough of it! It’s very quick and very easy but tastes like it has a great deal of difficulty! Yum yum!!! I made this last night for a few friends and there was not one crumb left- and I made a double batch! My favorite comment was “you must have put crack in this because I can’t stop eating it!” I made it ahead of time and reheated in a skillet. I put the lettuce leaves on a chilled platter and served the chicken in a large bowl that I warmed in the oven. This is a WINNER!

I also don’t have Hoison sauce. Is that gonna make a big difference?
Yes, hoisin sauce is a key ingredient in this dish. I do not recommend omitting.
I have ground turkey meat in the fridge.. Do you think it will still be just as good to use? I’m trying not to waste lol

I am falling more and more in love with your blog! I ran into this recipe on an obscure little pin on pinterest. My husband and I love PF Changs, but don’t always have PF Chang money, and not to mention we have two young kids, so eating out gets much more expensive. I typically have a lot of Asian style ingredients on hand because we cook a lot of Asian food, so this recipe was actually quite budget friendly for us! We only had to buy the meat, lettuce, and I was running low on soy sauce, so grabbed that too. My local store didn’t have ground chicken, so we used turkey instead, and I omitted the water chestnuts because I never really cared for them. I can say with certainty though that this was a five star dish, better than the one I fell in love with at PF Changs. It’s simple, healthy, and cheap. Three buzzwords for me 🙂 Thanks for this recipe. I will be incorporating it often in our weekly lunches.
This was a great recipe! If you are concerned about salt like me, use a low sodium soy sauce and cut back on the added salt – it still tasted plenty salty to me! This was a quick dinner recipe and the leftovers heated well – my boyfriend loved it too!
I didn’t even add extra salt and it tasted just fine, and I used low sodium soy sauce too.
I made this for dinner Saturday and it was fantastic. I left out the green onions and the Sriracha Sauce, some in my family have wimpy tongues. I will definitely be making this many more times in the future.
Thank you for posting this. I made them for dinner last night and my husband and my son loved them. I was looking for the Wokcano recipe and this was very close so I just improvised a little and they were pretty spot on. I use Jennie-O ground turkey for mine it’s pretty much the same as the ground chicken but I like the quality a bit better.
