One Pot Garlic Parmesan Pasta
The easiest and creamiest pasta made in a single pot – even the pasta gets cooked right in the pan! How easy is that?
Garlic and parmesan. A match made in heaven. And with the help of a single pan, you can make the easiest, most epic pasta ever.
Just think of this as a creamy alfredo, except without the heavy cream and the cream cheese. And no, taste is not compromised in this super easy one pot meal.
The one pan aspect actually helps the noodles soak up all that amazing flavor, giving you that light cream sauce coating the noodles in all its garlic-Parmesan glory.
And if you really want to save on dishes, you know my rule – this should get eaten straight out of the pot. The dishes, the plating, the garnishes – it’ll just slow you down anyway!
One Pot Garlic Parmesan Pasta
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup milk, or more, as needed
- 8 ounces uncooked fettuccine
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
Instructions
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add garlic and cook, stirring frequently, until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
- Stir in chicken broth, milk and fettuccine; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until pasta is cooked through, about 18-20 minutes. Stir in Parmesan. If the mixture is too thick, add more milk as needed until desired consistency is reached.
- Serve immediately, garnished with parsley, if desired.

Making this two nights in a row. Doubling the recipe this time because we are a house of 3 boys and it wasn’t enough last night. Will add this to the easy week night dinners list. Thanks
One pot pastas haven’t been successful for me in the past but this one worked great! I think maybe because it doesn’t try to do too much, there’s no meat or veggies involved to mess with different cooking times. So creamy and delicious and so easy!!
So delicious!! Tastes like a homemade expensive pasta dish you would get at a restaurant. Definitely making again.
My kids found this recipe when I was isolating with COVID, made it themselves and loved it. I came home tonight to find my 13 year old son making this for our dinner.by himself. Absolutely delicious and one pot, perfect.
Really great! The kids loved it!
I think that it is time to leave a review after making this close to 10 times. It is now a staple in our house. I am sensitive to heavy cream, so this is the perfect recipe for a creamy pasta without the heaviness! It is absolutely delicious and super easy to make. The only change that I make is I usually use a whole head of garlic in this recipe (an italian taught me how to cook, so it is only natural for me to double or triple the garlic in almost every recipe that calls for garlic!) This recipe deserves a 10/10. It is a cheap, easy meal for busy weeks or just lazy evenings when you just want to binge watch Harry Potter and eat pasta (like my night tonight!).
I absolutely loved this as did the rest of my family. Question- has anyone tried making this in a crockpot? We are having a Christmas pot luck and I don’t want to use my aunts stove top. I’m wondering if I can make it in a crock pot, or just keep it warm in a crock pot if I make at home without it drying out. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!
This was so easy to make and delicious! My family absolutely loved it. I made it exactly as written except changed out the pasta because I didn’t have any fettuccine. I will definitely be making this again.
A little late to the party but…I would cook it at home and use the keep warm feature on your crockpot. I don’t see actually cooking it in the crockpot going over too well. Pasta mush kinda thing if you know what I mean.
This is amazing! I never leave reviews but I had to leave one for this. It’s so easy and so delicious. I put chicken in mine for some protein and still only needed one pot. I just made the chicken first and cut it up and added it when the pasta was almost done. Where was this recipe when my 5 kids were little? What a delicious timesaver!
Quick and easy. Full of flavor. Works great with almond milk. This recipe is now in rotation with other favorites.
This was so, so good and easy. Thanks for the recipe!
Italian cooks (seemingly naturally) manage to make their pasta dishes so that the sauce sticks to the pasta. I’ve always struggled to achieve that until now. This recipe, Chungah, has brought me into a new era of pasta joy. Thank you sincerely for that!
I added chicken to it and it was absolutely perfect!! I will be making it again! Easy to make and very good! I actually added a little of cream and more parmesan and it was perfect! For sure a redo!
Love this! So easy and super delicious!!
This was good! I love alfredo but sometimes like it less milky and less cheesy so our stomachs aren’t upset later. I only had almond milk and heavy cream so I used the correct amount of almond milk and then added a few splashes of cream to help thicken up. I used spaghetti and added grilled chicken. Husband and I ate seconds and my 4 year old said it was “very yummy.” I suggest doubling the sauce if you like to pour extra on top. Also, I will be adding extra garlic next time but that’s because we are garlic lovers! Printed this out to save with my other recipes that my family will eat
Excellent and so easy. Recipe as written makes an excellent side dish or main dish. I added scallops but the possibilities for other additions are endless! Thanks
Made this with thin cut spaghetti since I didn’t have any fettuccine. It turned out to be one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever eaten. So easy to make. I used it as a side with my chicken francese. What an amazing meal!
I like the idea of it and it looked really good, i was excited. But mine did NOT thicken AT ALL. I would have been better off putting the pasta in regular boiling water. I thought i was gonna get a thick creamy sauce but the milk and chicken broth stayed completely liquid. Not sure how it worked so well for everyone else in the comments. Im confused.
My family had the same problem. It was super watery. The trick to it is to add 1/4 to 2/4 of a cup of cream cheese and add more milk than the recipe calls for.
This is perfect with chicken, fish, ribs or whatever. Our family loved it.
I thought it was outstanding!! And so easy. I love the one pot idea and the pasta absorbs the flavor of the milk and broth. I served it as a side. I will mix it up a bit in the future based on some other reviews.
