One Pot Garlic Parmesan Pasta
The easiest and creamiest pasta made in a single pot – even the pasta gets cooked right in the pan! How easy is that?
Garlic and parmesan. A match made in heaven. And with the help of a single pan, you can make the easiest, most epic pasta ever.
Just think of this as a creamy alfredo, except without the heavy cream and the cream cheese. And no, taste is not compromised in this super easy one pot meal.
The one pan aspect actually helps the noodles soak up all that amazing flavor, giving you that light cream sauce coating the noodles in all its garlic-Parmesan glory.
And if you really want to save on dishes, you know my rule – this should get eaten straight out of the pot. The dishes, the plating, the garnishes – it’ll just slow you down anyway!
One Pot Garlic Parmesan Pasta
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup milk, or more, as needed
- 8 ounces uncooked fettuccine
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
Instructions
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add garlic and cook, stirring frequently, until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
- Stir in chicken broth, milk and fettuccine; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until pasta is cooked through, about 18-20 minutes. Stir in Parmesan. If the mixture is too thick, add more milk as needed until desired consistency is reached.
- Serve immediately, garnished with parsley, if desired.

This was really good! I added chicken, an extra clove of garlic, a bit more milk and more cheese (we really love cheese in this house!) It did seem like the pasta didn’t cook all the way through (kind of harder on the ends?), next time I will break them in half to help with that, but will definitely be making this again! Thank you!
This dish was so delicious, as good or even better than the ones in good restaurants .
Thank you for being such a good cook and sharing your recipe to make others happy.
It was very good. I will try using a bit more garlic next time, but that’s because I am a garlic fanatic.
It was so flavorsome, and simple to make! Not too much going on to where it would be distasteful aswell! And the fact you only need 1 pot for this is mind boggling.
So good, I’d double the milk and cheese personally because I like more sauce. But overall delicious !!!
Me and my wife have a dinner date tomorrow and this one will be addition to our menu. Thank you for sharing the recipe! I hope I can pay you back for this!
Super easy and super yummy. I’m a vegetarian so I used this with vegetable broth instead of chicken, and I used 1/2 cup oat milk and 1/2 heavy cream instead of milk. It was so, so good and came together so fast. Definitely will be making again!
The technique is great. I did add shrimp, turkey bacon, green onions, spinach, and an assortment of spices-Cajun, onion powder, thyme, red pepper, chili powder, basil, oregano. I also added 1/4 cup of chicken broth near the end just to loosen everything up a little bit.
This was absolutely amazing!! I added a little bit more milk, maybe another 1/4 cup to thin out the sauce a bit. This was a huge hit and everyone’s plates were clean. This would be amazing with breadsticks as well to dip into this sauce.
I loved it so much!! I would recommend adding a little more seasoning for flavour (I added oregano, basil, crushed red pepper flakes and sage) but overall; I didn’t know chicken stock could make such a difference, most definitely going to be making this extraordinary pasta recipe a lot!!
It was really good, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that every Italian hated my guts throughout the process. Worth it in my opinion.
My thoughts exactly!! I didn’t make this. I wanna make it. But I’m afraid Nonna is gonna come down from heaven and hit me with the wooden spoon, not kidding. Lol. Cooking macaroni in sauce is Olive Garden level. But I’m going to try this anyway (i think).
I doubled it and used 16 oz. whole wheat spaghetti – added chopped broccoli at the end and used evaporated milk, veggie broth and red pepper flakes. It was a nice hot lunch for a family of five. I thank you for the many great fast recipes/inspiration I have found on this site!
Could have been better. Needs more garlic and next time I’ll use cream instead of milk. Also added a little more cheese and some pepper to taste.
Wow! Thank you. This is so perfect and so simple. I will add this to my rotation for sure. Add zest of one lemon for a twist.
Easy peasy & delicious as written. Options I have done are: subbing 1 cup white wine for 1 cup broth broth, adding fresh or leftover veggies that are in the fridge, frozen peas, halved cherry tomatoes added at end, cooked chicken, shrimp, beef….the options are endless.
Good quick pasta dish. To be very clear, real Alfredo has no garlic or cream cheese. Real Alfredo is butter, cream, Parmigiano-Reggiano. Period. Don’t compare these two. Back to this one – it’s a really nice, simple, creamy, one dish pasta. Mine required more liquid but still done in 30.
I am pretty sure that this recipe is copied from tasty but tastes good nontheless.
Hi John! It actually looks like tasty is using our recipe and video on their page.
What a great, simple yet delicious recipe! I add an extra cup of milk at the end for more sauce. This is a great recipe when you’re not in the mood to cook. Someone I add shrimp, sometimes mushrooms.
Thank you!
This was wonderful & so easy to make. I only used two garlic cloves instead of 4, & the flavor was terrific.
Absolutely dilicious, Thank You! I’m making it a second night in a row!!
Easy, tastes great and was asked for again–makes this a “perfect” recipe in our household!
Yuuuummm! Seeing all these great reviews, I could not wait to make this. I was so glad I already had everything in house except for the milk and parsley. Since many suggested chopping up some extra garlic I did. Great idea! This was just incredible and enjoyable to make! I actually made it again 2 days later. I can’t wait to make a big batch with some grilled seafood on my family’s beach vacation!!
