One Pot Garlic Parmesan Pasta
The easiest and creamiest pasta made in a single pot – even the pasta gets cooked right in the pan! How easy is that?
Garlic and parmesan. A match made in heaven. And with the help of a single pan, you can make the easiest, most epic pasta ever.
Just think of this as a creamy alfredo, except without the heavy cream and the cream cheese. And no, taste is not compromised in this super easy one pot meal.
The one pan aspect actually helps the noodles soak up all that amazing flavor, giving you that light cream sauce coating the noodles in all its garlic-Parmesan glory.
And if you really want to save on dishes, you know my rule – this should get eaten straight out of the pot. The dishes, the plating, the garnishes – it’ll just slow you down anyway!
One Pot Garlic Parmesan Pasta
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup milk, or more, as needed
- 8 ounces uncooked fettuccine
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
Instructions
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add garlic and cook, stirring frequently, until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
- Stir in chicken broth, milk and fettuccine; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until pasta is cooked through, about 18-20 minutes. Stir in Parmesan. If the mixture is too thick, add more milk as needed until desired consistency is reached.
- Serve immediately, garnished with parsley, if desired.

I add a bunch of mushrooms I sautéed in garlic butter and sherry and used spaghetti in place of fettuccine and it was amazing! One of the best pasta dishes I’ve had in a while.
tastes amazing and super easy to make
Great starter meal for someone learning to cook! It is simple, healthy, and flavorful! I used a crock pot to cook plain chicken, shredded, then added to the pasta. I also mixed in veggies. Great simple meal, less than 30 minutes prep between all items!
Definitely added more cheese, but it was really good. My parents both quite liked it and would definitely make it again!
easy to make and super good to eat
A successful dish to add to our menu at home! Easy, nutrious and QUICK!! My Husband and Daughter had seconds!!!
An easy, nutrious and QUICK dinner that will be added to our menu at home. My family had seconds!!
This is the best dish ever, and so easy! I make it so often, I basically have it memorized. 🙂 The kids and hubs love this dish, too!
This was delicious..added some cooked chicken, red peppers, green onion and lemon juice and the sauce thickened up beautifully..will be making this again
Great recipe! I added a dash of cayenne for a little kick. Next time I will add flour in with the butter because the end result was a bit watery for me. The sauce didn’t stick to the pasta so I’m hoping that adding flour will help.
My dear son made the Garlic Butter Shrimp Scampi recipe (from this site) for dinner the other night and served it with this pasta and some steamed broccoli. It was a delicious meal! Just a note: we did find that the pasta needed a bit more liquid.
Fantastic pasta recipe! I doubled recipe for leftovers. I used good quality butter and broth and added crushed red pepper flakes. I used thin spaghetti as I did not have fettuccine. Splashed fresh lemon juice on top when plated. This turned out so good! Will definitely make this again.
How did this reheat? My problem with leftovers of fettuccine Alfredo is that the sauce separates, and it’s much less enjoyable to eat for me. Is this something that would be a good meal prep recipe? Any advice would be great!
This reheats fantastically! It’s one of those dishes that’s even better the next day. Leftovers are always finished – this dish never gets thrown away! My boyfriend and I fight over the leftovers it’s so good.
Taste was good, but not great. Only one pan made for an easy cleanup. My big issue is before softening, the fettuccine was difficult to stir in the limited amount of liquid. As a result, many noodles clumped together. If I were to make it again, I’d would select a different shape pasta.
Fabulous. I also added just 1-2 drops of hot sauce. You don’t taste it, it just ups the flavor. My husband said I shouldn’t ever do pasta any other way, and my family loves my alfredo. Obviously this lends itself to any shape of pasta – I used angel hair, just adjust cooking time. Can’t wait to make again and add shrimp, or bacon, or veggies….. possibilities are endless.
Less than 10 ingredients including salt and pepper, and then, Bam! A new family favorite is born!
Thank you, Chungah, for this simple, yet delicious recipe.
This was delicious ! I used really good chicken stock (better than bouillon), extra garlic, and a splash of fresh lemon juice at the end. Amazing !
Well, this turned out perfect!, I didn’t use one pot, I cooked the pasta in another pot, because bad luck always comes in one pot for me!LMAO! But anywho, This turned out great, I’ve always been a fan of garlic bread, and when I was simmering the garlic I was like “THIS IS A KEEPER”! Also, I didn’t have chicken broth at the time, so I substituted it for 2 cups of milk instead of one it turned it fine and creamy. I’m only a teen but my family lets me, cook, because to be honest its a great hobby. And so normally it’s hard for me to cook “good” food, but this one was particularly easy, so I definitely recommend this.
Pretty darn good! I was looking for a fast pasta meal because that is what I had on hand. I didn’t have meat defrosted. I didn’t have fettuccini on hand, but I had spaghetti, so there you have it. Fresh cheeses make this super yummy. I doubled this recipe because I feed a lot of people. It is fairly low cost, even if you use fresh cheese, like I did. I served it with toasted garlic bread an some of my cherry tomatoes from my garden. This hit the spot. I think next time I will add crushed red pepper to the sauce. We like a little heat.
Had lots of cooked leftover pasta and needed to whip up something quick. Did not add the broth as pasta was already cooked, added more garlic, a tsp of chicken bouillon to add flavor and used grocery parmesan (not freshly grated) and it still turned out good. I look forward to re doing this with proper technique and ingredients. But this recipe was a saviour! Thank you for sharing.
Excellent dish, done it twice and everyone is asking for more
Awesome! Easy, quick, and delicious! Only one pot to clean up puts this over the top!
