Perfect for snacking or feeding a large crowd. They’re just so addicting, and you won’t be able to stop!
It can get a bit hectic around the holidays as you try to find the perfect gifts for your niece and nephews, the must-have sweater vests for your baby corgis, while hosting the biggest dinner party with friends and family in your closet-sized kitchen.
That’s why these oyster crackers are everything.
It’s perfect for any occasion, but it comes in particularly handy during the holiday season. It’s quick, easy and practically effortlessly made in the slow cooker with the help of my favorite ingredient of all – Hidden Valley The Original Ranch Dips Mix. Toss that right in with garlic and freshly grated Parmesan with melted butter.
The combination is absolutely heavenly.
Now you can easily find this ingredient at Walmart – the perfect resource for all of your holiday entertaining, and you can transport these addicting crackers in these Glad Food Storage Containers. Just toss it right in, throw on the lid and you’re set.
See, I told you. Easy! You can even make this ahead of time, although you’ll probably end up eating all of the crackers before you make it to your boss’ holiday party!

Love the idea and ease of this recipe, but I have some ranch haters here. Have you ever tried with any alternatives to the ranch dressing?
Maybe try Italian dressing mix? I think that would be good. Or just peruse the different packaged mixes at the grocery store. Let you imagination run wild!
Can I use olive oil instead of vegetable?
Made exactly as instructed and this is a keeper recipe for sure! For some reason my neighbor always buys oyster crackers for me so I have an abundance of them lol! Not so much anymore, after the first round of this recipe they disappeared fast. Thank you for posting this easy and delicious recipe!
Do you stir in the Parmesan in the slow cooker or sprinkle on the tray?
On the tray. 🙂
these were wonderful!
I cooked them on High for an hour and stirred them every 20 minutes or so. my friends love ’em!!
Can i use garlic salt ot garlic powder instead of fresh garlic ?
Can uou use garlic salt or powder.,instead of fresh garlic.
Yes, of course!
How long will these keep? How long in advance can I make them and have them still taste good? Are they finger food or do you pair them with something else?
These are wonderful! I didn’t have any dill but perfect without it! making a double batch as we speak for a party tomorrow night! YUM
These are great and I had a Pembroke for 17yrs. Hands down the best dog ever!
When should I be adding the butter? I was a bit confused cause I felt that adding butter in the end would cause the crackers to become soggy.
Please refer to step #3:
3. Cover and cook on low heat for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Stir in butter until melted, about 1-2 minutes.
Thank you so much for sharing this delicious recipe. I’m sorry if you are getting this comment twice. I thought I had left it before, but don’t see it here so must have done something wrong. I made these crackers for a football get-together a couple of weeks ago and everyone loved them. But I had a problem with the minced garlic sticking together in clumps. I wasn’t sure when I should be adding the butter. I added it at the end. I was thinking about the problem later and wondered if I should have added the butter at the beginning and maybe that would have kept the garlic from clumping together. I sifted through the crackers and pulled out the lumps of sticky garlic before serving them, but some of it was glommed onto the crackers which was a little strong. Any advice on how to avoid this problem in the future?
Linda, you can try adding additional vegetable oil with the garlic at the very beginning to avoid these clumps. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the update. I ended up mixing the minced garlic into the vegetable oil before adding it to the crackers. No extra vegetable oil needed. It kept the garlic from clumping. I made these for our holiday party and they were a hit – great recipe. Thanks again!
Can these be done in the oven?
Yes, absolutely. You can bake at 250 degrees F for about 15-20 minutes.
I’m in love with these! I’m making them for the second party this week right now.
Could I use the powdered or pre grated Parmesan if I don’t have regular Parmesan on hand? I’m not sure how that would work in the crock pot, but I was planning on putting mine in the oven for a quick snack.
Another of our 2015 Christmas Eve appetizers. Thanks for another great recipe!
These are so adorable! The perfect holiday snack 🙂 I’ll pass along this recipe to my sister – she’s been looking for slow cooker recipes this season!
Can I assume that the slow cooker would be on low?
Yes, the directions indicate low heat. High heat would just be too strong for these little crackers.
I love oyster crackers! This recipe looks so fun and easy too – I can tell these are super addictive (can’t wait to make)! 😀
A A wonderful snack food!
