Damn delicious is my go to for great recipes- better than a meal kit service imo. I liked the flavors of this recipe a lot. Added carrots and onion. Next time I will use a ribeye or some better cut of meat just as personal preference. Had to double cook time to get a medium steak with a good sear. Whole family loved.
Other than my steaks being too thick for the recipe times.
It turned out DEADLY.
I had to turn off broil for the last time min flip. They crisped nice, but my hubby doesn’t do any form of rare.
So 425 for a few 5-7 minutes to finish it off so the broccoli wouldn’t burn too
Thanks for this go to recipe!!
Looks great! Hope to try it soon. After reading the recipe, watching the video and reading the reviews… I wanted to comment on how much patience you have! Your directions are perfectly clear. Thank you, Chungah
I use this recipe more than any other I’ve ever found. I’m not a good griller so it’s so nice to be able to have steak from the oven that isn’t like shoe leather! I don’t even bother with the potatoes, just extra broccoli that tastes sooo good! Thank you!
(This might be a duplicate review, not sure my first took.)
This was just amazingly easy. I forgot to buy garlic, so I used dried garlic chips (soaked them in the olive oil while the potatoes were boiling) and added some petite carrots as well. The only problem I had was the sirloin was a little too rare so I broiled a little more but overdid it and it ended up medium well. But now I know the right timing for next time. The meal was absolutely delicious and I will make this again!
Amazingly easy. I forgot to by garlic cloves, so I used garlic chips instead, but it was still great. The only problem I had was the sirloin was a little too rare after 5 min/side, so I cooked it a little longer and then it was a little too well done. But now I know the right timing for next time!
This is absolutely amazing. My family and I love this recipe. Comes out perfect every time!
I made this recipe for my husband and he absolutely loved it. I substituted Italian flakes for Thyme. I love any recipe that is easy clean up. Definitely will make again. Thanks
Love sheet pan meals…This looks so.yummy can’t wait to try it. No one in my family likes medium rare steaks. More medium well done.. how many minutes estimated for that? Will this method over cook my steak since trying for medium well done.
Thanks
Looks awesome, will try asap. Do you slice the steak before broiling and not turn it? Or slice afterward and put back on the pan.
Whoop replying to myself… watched the video on the page here.
loved it! Simple, so my teeenager liked it, and easy clean up and prep.
Loved this! Quick, easy and delicious.
This was my first attempt at sheet pan recipe, and I really enjoyed it. The meat was juicy and delicious.
Planning on making this tomorrow night.
It was fantastic!! The steaks ended up a little bit overcooked for me, but my mom and my boyfriend scarfed it up! Definitely damn delicious and definitely a re-do.
Wowser!! Nuff said. Love the sheet-panning idea, but I go a step further and cover the sheet pan with parchment paper. Voilā! Only one mixing bowl to clean.
Planning to make this tonight. I have red potatoes but larger than baby size. Think it would work to parboil and then quarter them? TIA for any tips!
Yes, that should work! 🙂
I need the temperature of the oven please
You want to set the oven to the broil setting. The temperature is usually about 500 degrees F to 550 degrees F.
I just made it. Instant success, I will be making again! For steak I used NY strip steak (it was on sale). I had pre-cooked Sam’s Club roasted potatoes (cheat;)) so didn’t need to par boil them. Didn’t have thyme, used Italian seasoning. For everything else I followed the recipe, including cooking time and temperature. I think garlic gave this a lot of flavor. Thank you!
I didn’t want to go out and fire up the grill, so I tried this sheet pan recipie. It worked out great!!!
Totally recommend.
You are becoming my go to when I need inspiration for a quick and delicious dinner. Will try this tonight. Thanks for the recipes and awesome photos! 🙂
How close should the pan be to the broiler element for making the sheet pan steak and veggies?
About 6 inches.
This was delicious, especially with that garlic butter (: thank you!
The garlic butter is the best!
What would be the time for well done steak? I have finicky eaters. Thank you in advance
You can add a few more minutes to the baking time.
Can you use a flank steak in this recipe–I have one that is 1.5 lbs?
Yes, absolutely, but you may have to adjust cooking times as needed.
You only mentioned red potatoes and broccoli; what are the yellow round “things”?
They are also potatoes! Sometimes the baby red potatoes come in a mix of red and yellow. It doesn’t change the taste or recipe necessarily – it just adds more color to the dish. 🙂
I have red potatoes, not baby ones. Do I have to boil them or can I just cut in quarters and broil with veggies?
Did you slice the steak before of after cooking?
After. 🙂
Made this last night and it was just as delicious as all of your other recipes I have tried! I sprinkled some Montreal Steak seasoning on both the steak and veggies because I had it on hand. My family loved it and it was so easy!
Sweet, Kristie! Thanks for sharing with us!
I’m not sure if maybe I didn’t toss the veggies enough in the oil, or if it was because I used stoneware sheet pans (had to use two- too many ingredients for one), but my potatoes and broccoli burned in the 12 mins, and the steaks were gray and rare.
I do like rare stakes, and the broccoli wasn’t too bad with a crisp to it. Still overall very tasty.
Not sure what to change to get everything to cook correctly though.
Making this for dinner tonight. I am cracking up at all the questions. You have incredible patience!
This recipe looks great. I’m going to make it tonight with Rib Eye steaks and asparagus with garlic powder. I have to have my garlic!
Hi, I was wondering if you cooked the asparagus the same amount of time as the broccoli. Thanks
Wow i cant believe how great this turned out! so simple and quick, was delicious! i added a bit of montreal steak spice along with the salt and pepper.
Could I use ribeye steak and the bigger red potatoes? Would I need to cut the potatoes prior to putting them in the oven? Would the cook time change for a different steak but with the same thickness?
Unfortunately, without further recipe testing, I cannot answer with certainty. As always, please use your best judgment regarding substitutions and modifications. Sorry, Anna!
This looks incredible! Yum!
Great dish for a working mom- added cherry tomatoes to the recipe & it was amazing!
Easy peasy, everyone is happy! Thank you for sharing this!
Hello.. Would you happen to know the container count for the 21 day fix?
Not at this time – sorry!
Any advice on avoiding burned broccoli? Also, my steak cooked fine (ended up medium well because I had three totaling 1lb..will adjust for next time) but it didn’t quite Carmalize like I your pictures. Any tips? I’m really new to cooking 🙂
Did your broccoli burn?
You can place the sheet pan on a higher rack to help caramelize the steak – but please do keep an eye out as it burns quickly!
What brand of sheet pan do you use? I apologize doe posting this question aqain but I noticed my email address was incorrect in the previous post.
It’s actually a variety of generic restaurant supply sheet pans. There’s no real brand really. It typically depends on what is in stock.
I’ll cook this tonight. Will let you know my impressions.
Just made this for dinner and we literally just finished. The recipe was so good! My boys are extremely picky about what they eat and both of them devoured the meal and asked for seconds! Will definitely make this again. Thanks!
Do you think I can use a Pyrex instead of the sheet pan?
Yes, of course.
Despite the answer you’re getting here, my advice is an absolute no! Do not put Pyrex under a broiler. Pyrex is good for baking, or at least the old Pyrex was. There have been many reports of glass shattering. Just do an online search and be safe.
Can you use frozen broccoli? Or should I thaw, or blanch it?
I recommend using fresh.
You are my new hero!
So many great recipes and easy too! Followed directions and this meal turned out perfect!
Thank you!
This recipe got me through the “kill all of the things” day of Whole 30…. even though I cooked it wrong. Thank you! I included it in my first week’s menu, too. http://www.aliteraryfeast.com/whole-30-week-one-dinners/
Hey damn delicious! Looks great but will this cook the steak well done in the inside if its on broil for 4-5 minutes? What is the minutes for a non bloody well done on inside and outside of steak. Thanks a million.
You can add a couple of minutes or so until desired doneness.
I imagine if you broil this dish it’s delicious, but roasting, even at 500 in a preheated pan, made for gray, unappetizing beef. I took the steak out about 10 degrees shy of done, leaving the veggies in the oven to continue roasting, and seared it in a hot skillet until it was browned and cooked to my liking (140 degrees in the center). I would make this again but would sear the steak first and then finish in the oven. That somewhat defeats the purpose of a 1 pan meal, but it would be close enough. Oh, and if you start the potatoes before the broccoli and beef, covering with foil so they steam a bit, you can skip the boiling.
Do you think I could make this on the grill? I was planning on trying the recipe this week, but my stove went out the other night. Would I still use a sheet pan?
Yes, absolutely, but you won’t need the sheet pan.
Do you pre cook the broccoli or does it cook fully when you broil the steaks?
There is no need to pre-cook the broccoli.
Made this tonight for a quick and easy Monday night dinner and I’m so so glad that I did. It was amazing. I cooked the steak at 3 minutes per side for rare to medium rare. It turned out fantastic. Melted in our mouths. Added some yellow squash for an additional veggie. I will make this again. I also added my beloved flavor god seasonings. Thanks again for another knock out recipe. 🙂
This looks amazing!!!
We don’t eat alot of beef because our large family makes it to costly, so I’m afraid to mess up. My question is should I do anything to tenderize the meat prior to baking. I was also thinking of throwing in some baby tomatoes for extra veggie and to stretch it just a bit more. Thanks for great recipes.
Rebecca, here is a list of ways to tenderize meat (although it may not be necessary):
http://www.sheknows.com/food-and-recipes/articles/1113383/how-to-tenderize-meat.
Hope that helps!
I had to use 2 large pans, as 2 lbs of potatoes, 160z of broccoli would not all fit. I chopped the steak beforehand because it did not mention this. Would it cook better whole? I like mine well done so I put the steak on the skillet first to brown it. Would I have been okay to just throw it in the oven? The first pan, the veggies burned to a crisp when left in for 15 ins on HIGH broil. So the next pan I put on LOW broil and it came out great. What is your advice for this? Less time on high? Just wondering if I needed to take the extra step to skillet the steak or not?
I recommend leaving the steak whole, not sliced. You can do LOW broil for MORE time or HIGH broil for LESS time – it’s completely up to you and your taste preferences.
Oh nooooooooo Jamie! The directions weren’t to leave under the broiler for 15 minutes!!!! The 15 minutes was the boiling of the potatos. Under the broiler only 4 to 5 minutes per side! 🙂
I’ve been a huge fan of your chicken lettuce wraps for a long time. Every time I make them they get rave reviews. I was in a pinch for a quick savory dinner for the fam this weekend, and found this. I had all the ingredients on hand, except the fresh broccoli-I only had frozen. I didn’t want to have to go to the store just for one ingredient, so while I was boiling the baby reds, I dumped the frozen broccoli in the pot with them for about the last minute, voila! Fresh-ish broccoli. I also used flank steak, and added Montreal Chicken Seasoning to the vegetables, along with the thyme, garlic and pepper. Everything turned out wonderfully, and it was so quick and easy to make. I will be making this again!
Hi, I made your sheet pan steak this evening, however, my steak did not brown like the one in your pictures even though I left it on the top rack and broiled on hi for 5 minutes on each side. There was also a lot of liquid in the pan (juices from the meat, i guess).
Any suggestions on how to get the steak to brown? Did you pan dear it in the images?
Thank you
Polly
That’s really strange. The broiler should have done the trick!
The name of your web site is spot on! I have made 4 of your recipes and ALL of them were DAMN DELICIOUS!! My husband just pronounced this to be #1 and that speaks volumes because he raved about your Slow Cooker Asian Short Ribs, and 2 days ago THEY were #1, Ha-Ha! Thank you, Chungah, for your easy, flavorful recipes. You make me look like a chef! 🙂
Hi! I’m not sure if someone has already asked, but if I wanted to make one serving of this would the cooking time change?
Thanks!
Yes, cooking time may have to be reduced as needed.
This sounds awesome! Easy and quick. Cooking this tomorrow. Wish me luck!
Do you know what the Weight Watcher Plus points are per serving?
Unfortunately, I do not. Sorry!
Check the calories: 460 calories would amount at about 9 or 9.5 points. 460 divided by 50 calories: 9.5
Looks yummy! What are the container portions for the 21 day fix plan?
Unfortunately, I cannot answer with certainty as I am not familiar with this plan.
Do you think I can use a tri tip steak instead?
Yes!
Hi Chungah! I’m getting ready to start Whole 30 tomorrow and I can’t wait to try this recipe!
I’ve featured your recipe on my latest blog post:
15 Quick & Easy Whole30 Dinners
http://www.happilyeverhauser.com/2017/03/03/15-quick-easy-whole30-dinners/
We made this tonight. Very tasty, except we cooked the steak 4-5 minutes on the broiler setting, on each side, and it came out well done vs medium rare. So next time, in my oven at least, I’d do 2-3 minutes each side.
We squeezed some lemon on the broccoli too – very delicious! Also added some butter onto the steak after we cooked it, not your garlic butter but I’m hoping to try that at some point. Thanks for the recipe.
YES! Exact same thing happened to me. Well done at 4-5 minutes. I’m going to try this again this week and do 2-3 minutes per side and see how that turns out.
How can I upload pictures to your site so I can show you how it looks?
I am making this tonight and this will be awesome
You can post to Instagram and tag me at @damn_delicious! 🙂
so you actually have to use a pan to cook the potatoes first, so it’s NOT ALL done in ONE pan.
your recipe calls for red potatoes, but you obviously used read and some kind of white.
I’m assuming you cook the steak whole. while I realize your photos look prettier with the steak cut, it would have been less confusing had you taken one shot with the steak un-cut to avoid confusion.
A lot of smoke and mirrors here.
If you watched the video that was posted with the recipe it shows the steak going in whole and then being sliced after cooking.
People are so quick to pick something apart. If you don’t like the method of which a delicious, FREE recipe was provided to you, than just don’t use it.
I read the recipe and then watched the video and plan to make this tonight!
Thank you for sharing, Chungah!
This comment is just rude! I can’t believe someone would post this. Just shocked at your lack of manners Beth.
Well she responded on the same tone the question was asked.
What question, Denise?! Beth’comment was uncalled for. In fact, it was down right petty.
Wow! What s be-aach!
You must have too much time on your hands. What a rude and unnecessary comment.
Ha ha! Even cooking sites have trolls. The only one who looks bad here Beth is you.
I have to admit, I was skeptical that the steak would be too undone but this was absolutely perfect! Delicious! We will absolutely make this again
Where do you add the garlic butter if desired?
On the steak! 🙂
Are you supposed to crack the oven door during the broil?
No, I have never heard of that before.
I’d never heard of that before either. i’ve been doing it with the door closed for years. But, I recently had to get the owner’s manual of my oven out to look up something, and I saw that it said to use the broiler with the door opened to the broiler stop position. Who knew?!
I’ve been taught that my entire life to leave door open when broiling…
In the UK, we don’t ‘broil’ – we ‘grill’ instead and for most UK grills, you have to leave the door open. So I guess just trying to ‘translate’ the recipe. I think it’ll work with the door open. Otherwise maybe the oven method.
How long would it cook to be medium well?
You can add an additional minute or two, or more, as needed.
Can you add zuchini or asparagus? Do you think your cooking times would change? Receipe looks awesome.
Yes, absolutely, but please note that cooking time may vary.
Instead of parboiling the potatoes can we just quarter them and then bake it for the same amount of time? or do they need to be parboiled?
I recommend parboiling to ensure they are cooked through.
I nuked my baby Yukon potatoes for 5-6 minutes and then used them. Came out fine!
The nutritional info at the bottom says 4 servings and recipe at the top says 6 servings.
Can you tell me which to go by?
6 servings.
What are the dimensions of your pan? Mine never hold everything!
21×15.
Thank you!
I meant I *was looking lol
I wasn’t looking to use this recipe for meal prep for Monday-Thursday cooking it on a Sunday. Do you think it will stay fresh till Thursday?
As I am not an expert on food safety, I cannot really say with certainty – sorry! Methods for optimal food storage and shelf life should be based on good judgment and what you are personally comfortable with.
Totally understand thanks
Food safety expert here. Leftovers are safe for 3-4 days after cooking as long as they are put in fridge within 2 hours and stored at 32-40 degrees F. And, of course, reheated thoroughly.
So yummmmm! My fam of 4 gobbled it up! Picky kids & all. Thank u!!!!
Do you use the high or low setting when broiling?
High, but please be sure to keep an eye on it! 🙂
Do you slice the steaks, like your photo shows, before putting them onto the pan and in the oven?
No, the steaks should be left whole. The steak is sliced upon baking for photographic purposes.
We tried it tonight and loved it!!! My husband suggested maybe next time to marinade the steak in some Italian dressing! Thanks for the quick healthy recipee!!
My broiler has only low and high. Which setting do you suggests?
High, but please be sure to keep an eye on it! 🙂
How long do you cook it for and at what temp???
Please refer to the recipe.
On the comments she stated that if you don’t have a broil setting to do 500 degrees Fahrenheit for 4-5 minutes on each side
What size sheet pan do you use?
I prefer to use an XL sheet pan, about 20.25 x 14.25 x 1 inches.
Can I substitute chicken for the meat?
Yes, but please note that cooking time will vary.
I’m guessing High broil or low?
High, but please be sure to keep an eye on it! 🙂
Very tasty and very easy to make!
I want to try this without the potatoes, would it work the same without the starch from the potatoes? Will it change time or temperature? Other veggie suggestions, like Brussel Sprouts?
Yes, you can omit the potatoes. Time can vary depending on the vegetables that are substituted. And yes, brussels sprouts sounds amazing!
Looks delicious. At first I thought there were red and yellow grape tomatoes in the mix. Looking closely, I see that they’re all potatoes! (Maybe I looked too closely…in the first photo, the red potato standing up in the top left corner of the pan has a face!) Now, back to the recipe. I’m cooking for two…Hubby prefers his steak medium-well, while I prefer medium-rare. Do you think this recipe and method would work with two different thickness steaks (perhaps 3/4″ and 1″)? Or do you have any other suggestions? Do you foresee any problems if I start by lining the pan with aluminum foil first (even easier clean-up!)? Thank you!
Yes, that should work just fine!
Do you precooked the broccoli. And do you use fresh or frozen?
No, I did not pre-cook the broccoli. There’s no need to! 🙂 I used fresh broccoli.
Azniv — I wouldn’t use aluminum foil. It throws off the temp, tears easily & isn’t the healthiest thing to cook on. Normally in an oven, I use parchment paper, but I’m afraid it would catch fire under a broiler 🙁 I would use avocado oil for its high smoke point & stay away from the ever popular canola oil because it’s probably GMO & smokes at 350°. For lower temps, I use coconut oil or Irish butter & EV olive oil for salads & cold dishes. Here’s a handy little list:
https://jonbarron.org/diet-and-nutrition/healthiest-cooking-oil-chart-smoke-points
We made this tonight, used trim cut one inch thick
Angus ribeyes… Ahhmazing..:). My husband went nuts over roasted broccoli, never had. Thanks Chungah, another great recipe we will use again!
I put all the oil/spices/veggies in a zip lock bag and shake them up instead of trying to “toss” for better and more even coverage. Your recipes make my family of guys very happy!
that is a great idea!
Thank you, Jen J! Great idea for this and other recipes. Why do I always forget? LOL
Can’t wait to try this for the inlaws this week. Do you think I could use frozen broccoli?
I recommend using fresh.
Nice recipe, I can’t wait to try this recipe Christmas week when our family will be here. Thank You so much.
I can’t wait to try this, I’m not the greatest cook, but this – I’m sure will make me seem like a fucking badass cook! LOL thanks for sharing, can’t wait to try it this week for dinner.
Just found my Sunday dinner!!!
Are there other vegetables in the picture? It looks like there’s more than just the baby red and broccoli? If so, what are they? This looks great and we’re going to have it for dinner tonight!
Nope – that’s it! 🙂
Cherry tomatoes in the photo.
It’s not cherry tomatoes. It’s yellow and red potatoes
Looks like white and red potatoes to give extra color to the dish.
I finfally bought a sheet pan a few weeks ago so now I can make all your amazing sheet pan recipes!
Paige

Came out delicious! I enjoy your recipes so much my son is buying your Damn Delicious recipe book for Christmas for Me!
How far from broiler do you recommend?
About 6 inches.
Delicious and simple… I do have a question…
We have a small apartment stove and the broiler isn’t used because I’m old and creaky (getting down and up is hard 😉 ). If I do this in the oven can you suggest temp and time? Thank you… O)
500 degrees F.
How long at 500 degrees? Thanks!
Cooking time should remain about the same.
Would it be the high or low setting on the broiler?
High, but please be sure to keep an eye on it! 🙂
Hi so I have a gas stove what temperature?
500 degrees F.
How many minutes do you put if I put it in the oven
Please refer to step #5:
Place into oven and broil until the steak is browned and charred at the edges, about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.
Yum! This looks delish!
Do you slice the steaks, like your photo shows, before putting them onto the pan and in the oven?
No, the steaks should be left whole. The steak is sliced upon baking for photographic purposes.
Thank you
The pocture baby Yukon and baby reds I believe
Can you use flank or skirt steak?
Yes.
This turned out great good idea
I am so grateful to you Chungah! I have never managed to get my steak to taste right, but thanks to you, I can finally get them to taste delicious. (It would help if I had a grill – haha)
This meal was so easy, it took no time at all. Perfect for a busy night.
Thank you so much, Angela!
