Strawberry Wonton Cups
These elegant wonton cups come together so quickly and easily, and you can even make them ahead of time!
With Valentine’s Day just two days away, Jason and I finally decided to go out this year. Except, waiting two days before the most romantic holiday of the year to make a dinner reservation is not recommended. We usually stay in on this holiday but since we’re in a new city with so many amazing restaurants, I thought it would be nice to play dress-up and go to a fancy schmancy restaurant. But like I said, there are no reservations available. That’s why I’ll be making these cute little wonton cups instead.
Wonton cups can be so versatile. You can bake them up in mini muffin pans and fill them up to your favorite toppings. I chose to go the savory route with sweet, balsamic drenched strawberries, topped with crumbled goat cheese and fresh basil. They come together so quickly and easily, and have just the perfect romantic feel for that special someone. So if you’re like me and waited for the last minute for a Valentine’s Day dinner reservation, this will more than make up for it!
Strawberry Wonton Cups
Ingredients
- 2 cups strawberries, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar, or more, to taste
- 24 2- inch round won ton wrappers
- ¼ cup crumbled goat cheese
- ¼ cup basil leaves, chiffonade
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 F. Lightly oil a 24-cup mini muffin tin or coat with nonstick spray.
- In a large bowl, combine strawberries, balsamic vinegar and sugar; set aside.
- Fit a wonton wrapper into each of the 24 muffin tins, pressing carefully to make sure there is an opening in the center.
- Place into oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Fill each wonton with strawberry mixture. Sprinkle with goat cheese.
- Serve immediately, garnished with basil, if desired.

Adorable!! And so easy — totally my kind of appetizer. Bummer about all the reservations being full, but you want to know a little secret? It’s SO much better to go out for V-Day the day before or day after instead. Less crowded, better service AND you get to stretch the holiday for two days. 😉
They look so gorgeous and CRISPY! Going out on Valentine’s Day as well for the first time in years!! I hope there are restaurants in London that will take us with no reservations!
What a fun way to use wontons for a dessert
So so so pretty and look so elegant! But not super hard – that’s the best kind of recipe! I hope you guys found a reservation! Gah! Ive made that mistake in years past when I actually wanted to go out but couldnt b/c everything was full!
I think we’re going to have to resort to take-out this year!
absolutely lovely and delicious idea! 😀
I have wrappers in the freezer. My2 yo would go bonkers over these. And maybe the hubby too 😉
These are so adorable! Could you fill them with chocolate and top with raspberries for a sweet treat?
