A copycat recipe that you can easily make right at home in just 20 minutes. And it tastes a million times better too!
I am such a sucker for lettuce wraps. They are so low in carbs so I become a bottomless pit, stuffing my face without any kind of guilt. And when it’s an exact PF Chang’s replica that can be made in 20 minutes or less – well, that just means I’m having this 5 times a week.
I kid you not. This is the easiest, quickest meal you could ever make. And if you’re quick in the kitchen, you could even get this on the dinner table in less than 15 minutes. Plus, it’s budget-friendly and you can easily double or triple the recipe as needed. What more could you ask for?
PF Chang's Chicken Lettuce Wraps
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, diced
- ¼ cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon Sriracha, optional
- 1 (8-ounce) can whole water chestnuts, drained and diced
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 head butter lettuce
Equipment
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Add ground chicken and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes, making sure to crumble the chicken as it cooks; drain excess fat.
- Stir in garlic, onion, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, ginger and Sriracha until onions have become translucent, about 1-2 minutes.
- Stir in chestnuts and green onions until tender, about 1-2 minutes; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- To serve, spoon several tablespoons of the chicken mixture into the center of a lettuce leaf, taco-style.

Easy recipe and absolutely delicious! Lots of texture and flavor. Will make these again!
Delicious recipe, worked great!
This has been a go to recipe for YEARS! Sooo good and easy! I add a little more ginger, hoisin, and sriracha (sometimes a little more rice wine vinegar depending on the brand). It’s a classic in my household that we will go to again and again!
I just love making and eating these! So simple and yummy!!
This recipe truly was damn delicious! It surpassed our expectations of being just like PF Chang’s Lettuce Wraps – it was even better! A winner in our family’s rotation of dinner ideas!
So delicious and fast. I used romaine lettuce grown from my dad’s veggie garden. Used ginger powder, added red peppers, and followed all other ingredients. This is so tasty, that I will definitely make again. I used a food processor to prepare the chicken before frying.
Just made this. Omg. Every bite is explosion of flavors. Absolutely love it.
I have made this so many times now and it’s the best lettuce wrap recipe out there. You need the sauce though: Sriracha, soy sauce, and Chinese mustard.
Made this with ground turkey and added carrots. Was amazing.
I don’t condone cussing, but when my kids said “holly crap this is good!” I’ll allow it. 😀
I have a question I have rice vinegar, but it says rice wine vinegar…. Can I use mirin? I’m a little confused ! I can’t seem to find “rice WINE vinegar”. Any tips! Thank you
Use your rice vinegar 😉 I did, and it was great!
Made this with ground turkey and added carrots. Was amazing.
We LOVE this recipe! It is even better if you use homemade hoisin sauce ( 2 Tbsp soy sauce,
1 Tbsp peanut butter,
2 Tbsp molasses or honey,
1 teaspoon rice vinegar,
1 teaspoon sesame oil,
1 clove grated garlic, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper,
1 teaspoon miso paste OR 1/4 teaspoon 5 spice powder + 1 tsp. thai chili sauce).
YUM!!!
Is this all you put in it or is this the hoisin sauce recipe?
The BEST!!!…followed recipe and used suggestions from others
1. Sesame oil a must, NO OLIVE
2. Half hoisin, half Oyster sauce( 1/4c total
3. Water chestnuts,Shiitake mushrooms, a pinch of chopped shredded carrots,Greens onions
WOW
Great recipe!! We add chopped mushrooms and chili crisas a condiment;) This is a regular meal inour house. Love it!!
sooooooo good! even my younger brother who doesn’t really like greens loved it! highly recommended
I have ground pork and found this recipe. I’m confused though, can any one answer if the calories listed are for each wrap or the entire batch?
It’s for one serving, which is 1/4 of the whole batch. I don’t know if the head of lettuce is included in those calories, but that’s such a small contributor it doesn’t really matter. So it’s up to you how many individual wraps you make with 1/4 of the filling.
Does it really matter?
Great & quick meal. We have started making it every week or 2. 15-20 min from start to finish. Saves well for lunch the next day. We usually wrap as we eat so lettuce is crunchy whenever you serve it. Damn delicious.
I forgot. My grocery didn’t have ground chicken. I don’t like turkey. I bought ground pork. After all it is the other white meat. I don’t know the calorie count for pork. It was delicious. I did add my cellophane noodles. It was a keeper for everyone. They want this for taco Tuesday.
Taste just like the Chang’s. The only difference is my PF Chang’s has cellophane noodles in it. Not a lot just a little.
Cellophane noodles are SO easy. They come packaged in the grocery store. You put them in hot oil for literally 2 seconds and they swell up and get crispy! They take this recipe to the next level!
Totally hooked best meal ever I can eat it almost every night.
