A copycat recipe that you can easily make right at home in just 20 minutes. And it tastes a million times better too!
I am such a sucker for lettuce wraps. They are so low in carbs so I become a bottomless pit, stuffing my face without any kind of guilt. And when it’s an exact PF Chang’s replica that can be made in 20 minutes or less – well, that just means I’m having this 5 times a week.
I kid you not. This is the easiest, quickest meal you could ever make. And if you’re quick in the kitchen, you could even get this on the dinner table in less than 15 minutes. Plus, it’s budget-friendly and you can easily double or triple the recipe as needed. What more could you ask for?
PF Chang's Chicken Lettuce Wraps
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, diced
- ¼ cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon Sriracha, optional
- 1 (8-ounce) can whole water chestnuts, drained and diced
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 head butter lettuce
Equipment
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Add ground chicken and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes, making sure to crumble the chicken as it cooks; drain excess fat.
- Stir in garlic, onion, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, ginger and Sriracha until onions have become translucent, about 1-2 minutes.
- Stir in chestnuts and green onions until tender, about 1-2 minutes; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- To serve, spoon several tablespoons of the chicken mixture into the center of a lettuce leaf, taco-style.

I have made this three times now. The first two times, I diced chicken cutlets thinking that would make them more “P.F. Chang like”. The third time, I used the ground chicken as the recipe calls for. Oh. My. Gosh. The ground chicken makes a huge difference. My kids could not stop eating them. I went back for thirds. At the end of the cooking process, I added a good tablespoon of hoisin, an extra splash or two of soy sauce, and a good squeeze around the pot of sriracha, but we like our food a little bit saucy and spicy. I always order lumpia from our favorite Filipino bakery to go with our lettuce wraps because… well… the kids love lumpia. This time, however, the lettuce wraps were the star of the show! If you have not made this yet, do so!
I made these wraps and they came out really well. I pretty much followed the recipe but replaced mushrooms with cooked leftover white rice. I did not have ready made hoisin sauce, but used a recipe to make it.
The recipe steps were ckear and beginner like me was able to prepare easily.
My daughter and husband loved it.
I will make it again.
Made this for dinner this week. Both my guys loved it. Hasn’t been a week yet and they’re asking fir it again. That doesn’t happen often.
Love this recipe! It’s so easy to make and is a hit every time.
Amazing recipe! I didn’t have Siracha but it was so good!!!
Quick and easy! Make sure to have all of your ingredients chopped and ready before you start. It’s quick and delicious.
This is the one thing I always order at PF Changs – and I liked this recipe even better. I tripled it and served it at a family gathering and it was a huge hit. THANK YOU!
My family and I have been craving this all quarantine. I’m a teenager and enjoyed making it! The only thing I did was added extra hot sauce, but otherwise it’s great!
I made these lettuce wrap for my husband and he loved it and so did I. I will definitely make again.
Loved it! So tasty and satisfying.
Always make this when I’m craving Asian flavours. So simple yet flavourful.

So good and so easy! My kids always love when I make this. Thank you!
These were so good and literally took 15-20 min max all together. I followed it step by step adding a tad bit more low sodium soy sauce but besides that I copied it exactly. Paired these with some rice and hot chili sauce. Will be making again for sure
Thanks a million for this recipe! My family loved it! Because we are not big in spicy food, I substituted the sriracha sauce and replaced it with a sweet (and mild) chili sauce. Amazing! You are the best!
I completely forgot to rate this. 5 stars!!!
Thanks a million for this recipe!!! It was amazing. Since we’re not big in spicy food as a family, we substituted the Sriracha sauce to a sweet (and mild) chilly sauce and it this became a hit! We all love it!
This looks so yummy and delicious. I think my son will love it.
