Harvest Cobb Salad
The perfect fall salad with the creamiest poppy seed salad dressing. So good, you’ll want to make this all year long!
After the AC debacle last week, the weather is finally cooling down here in LA, and it’s really beginning to feel like fall, my favorite season of all. From the crisp autumn breeze to the pumpkin spice lattes to the hot dog Halloween costume, what’s not to love?
And to add to this list is this glorious autumn harvest cobb salad, a recipe I developed as a Fisher Fresh Thinker, which just means that I’ll be bringing you plenty of fun recipes using preservative-free Fisher Nuts, just in time for the holidays.
Best of all, Fisher Nuts is hosting a recipe contest using their pecans, walnuts, or almonds for a chance to win a trip to 2 to NYC to meet celebrity chef Alex Guaraschelli! More details below.
So while you think about that winning recipe to get you to New York City, this cobb salad should tide you over.
From the crisp bacon to the fall apples and pears along with the crunchy pecans drizzled in an oh-so-creamy poppy seed dressing, you’ll want to make this salad all year long!
Harvest Cobb Salad
Ingredients
- 4 slices bacon, diced
- 2 large eggs
- 6 cups chopped romaine lettuce
- 1 apple, diced
- 1 pear, diced
- ½ cup Fisher Nuts Pecan Halves
- ⅓ cup dried cranberries
- ⅓ cup crumbled goat cheese
For the poppy seed dressing
- ⅓ cup mayonnaise
- ¼ cup milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
Instructions
- To make the poppy seed dressing, whisk together mayonnaise, milk, sugar, apple cider vinegar and poppy seeds in a small bowl; set aside.
- Heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add bacon and cook until brown and crispy, about 6-8 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate; set aside.
- Place eggs in a large saucepan and cover with cold water by 1 inch. Bring to a boil and cook for 1 minute. Cover eggs with a tight-fitting lid and remove from heat; set aside for 8-10 minutes. Drain well and let cool before peeling and dicing.
- To assemble the salad, place romaine lettuce in a large bowl; top with arranged rows of bacon, eggs, apple, pear, pecans, cranberries and goat cheese.
- Serve immediately with poppy seed dressing.

This was soooooo good, such a classic salad! I didn’t have a pear and used balsamic and feta cheese. Blue cheese would be good here too! I love your recipes so much!
I have a large crowd at my house for Thanksgiving each year, this has been a go to salad for the last 3 years, and it is always a hit.
This was a great meal to throw together when I thought we had nothing left in the house! I made eggs in the instant pot, baked the bacon in the oven, and used two apples because I didn’t have a pear. I also didn’t have cranberries and used Brianna’s poppyseed dressing that I’d been trying to use up. A lot of modifications, I know, but this recipe was fabulous inspiration (especially when we have so much lettuce from our farm share)!
At first glance these are some of the most mouth watering recipes I’ve ever seen. If you can make people want to eat your food at the sight of it job well done! I’ve served this salad a couple of places and it’s always a crowd pleaser.
I’ve been making this salad for years since I stumbled upon it here. I always come back to it. It’s so delicious, easy, and beautiful. Thank you so much for this, it’s truly a household favorite. <3
This was very easy although I took shortcuts (baked the bacon and used a machine to hard boil the eggs) and turned out great. I really liked the tangy dressing. My family of three ate a lot and I was happy to have made such a pretty meal.
Easy to make and great taste. Topped with chicken tenders
oooh myyy!!!! this was damn delicious! 😉 made it tonight for my family and we all came away from the table satisfied. we added grilled chicken breast just to make it more filling for dinner, but honestly it’s so packed full of goodies (and protein) that we hardly even needed to. you’re right, we will be making this all year long. thanks for a great recipe!!
A great tasting salad. What is another choice of dressing? I work in a drug testing industry and try to avoid poppy seeds.
You can omit the poppy seeds. 🙂
Thank you for sharing…..I would definitely try this minus the bacon.
Looks amazing! Thank you for sharing.
Looks mouthwatering and delicious, what a beautiful combination. Happy 2018
Heart-healthy alternatives would be to cut the bacon. If it is a must then use something like Applegate Farms
Natural Turkey Bacon which has no saturated fat. Cut the yolk/yellow of the boiled eggs and just use the egg whites. Consider a mayo alternative or make it from scratch.
The salad looks delicious but I was alarmed to see the saturated fat of 12.6g. That is more than double the suggested daily amount if I remember correctly. Saturated fat is a silent killer. I will have to make some changes to the recipe to make it more heart healthy but thank you for the great ideas!
Made this for dinner tonight and we loved it! Once all the dicing was done, it was really an easy assembly – and the dressing is divine!
love this salad Made it for a party placed it on a beautiful platter ,every one loved it
May want to update the nutritional facts to show per serving instead of for the whole salad.
Julie, the nutritional info is for each serving, not for the entire salad.
I’ve made this a couple times for my family now and we just love it. Thanks so much for the yummy combo!
This looks amazing and I want to make it but I just had a heart attack looking at the nutrition. Over 600 calories per serving…..is that real??? Can’t be…right??
Yes, the numbers are correct. There are a lot of goodies in here that need to be accounted for, particularly the bacon. But you can always divide this among more servings to consume less calories or use less dressing.
Just made this, my husband said it was the best salad he’s ever had!
