One Pot Garlic Parmesan Pasta
The easiest and creamiest pasta made in a single pot – even the pasta gets cooked right in the pan! How easy is that?
Garlic and parmesan. A match made in heaven. And with the help of a single pan, you can make the easiest, most epic pasta ever.
Just think of this as a creamy alfredo, except without the heavy cream and the cream cheese. And no, taste is not compromised in this super easy one pot meal.
The one pan aspect actually helps the noodles soak up all that amazing flavor, giving you that light cream sauce coating the noodles in all its garlic-Parmesan glory.
And if you really want to save on dishes, you know my rule – this should get eaten straight out of the pot. The dishes, the plating, the garnishes – it’ll just slow you down anyway!
One Pot Garlic Parmesan Pasta
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup milk, or more, as needed
- 8 ounces uncooked fettuccine
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
Instructions
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add garlic and cook, stirring frequently, until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
- Stir in chicken broth, milk and fettuccine; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until pasta is cooked through, about 18-20 minutes. Stir in Parmesan. If the mixture is too thick, add more milk as needed until desired consistency is reached.
- Serve immediately, garnished with parsley, if desired.

I make this all the time. So easy and good! I’ll cook some chicken with cajun seasoning and add it on top at the end. I also love parmesan cheese so my 1/4 cup is a giant heaping 1/4 cup. haha
This has become my goto white sauce noodles recipe!! It is so versatile and easy to customize. My whole family loves it!
I’ve been returning to this recipe for years and it’s always a winner!
I am wondering if I can use regular butter instead of unsalted? Also, would pecorino Romano cheese work? I have a lot of it. 🙂
I have been making this for a decade or close to it. So fast, easy, and delicious. Easy to scale up for a crowd and everyone loves it
This looks delicious! I’m going to try this and other recipes asap.
10/10 recommendation was amazingly good and garlic is not over powering
Great recipe
We really like this recipie but how do you keep the pasta from sticking together when cooking ? I find I always have to go in a seperate it after then some pasta is uncooked.
This recipe is a staple in our house. I make it almost every week. My kids love pasta and this is an easy, tasty alternative to spaghetti. You can pair it with chicken, sausages or on its own with a salad. A family hit all around! LOVE ❤️
LOVE this recipe! I’ve been making it for a few years now, and it’s become a staple in our household! I add chicken and lemon zest (at the end) now, but it’s a great, quick meal just as it is! Thanks for all of your great recipes!
Delicious! I’ve made this so many times and it always turns out great. You can really use any pasta, I’ve used elbows, spaghetti, penne, etc. I also used oat milk recently and it tasted just as good.
I’ve made this several times…as written and adding various proteins. It’s a hit every time. Making it tonight with rotisserie chicken.
I’ve made this a few times now. I have not had anyone complain so far. The sauce thickens up if you let it sit. When I made it too soon, I just added milk to make it creamy again. I’m making it tonight but am adding some frozen broccoli in with the noodles. This recipe is a great side with kitchen staples.
Love this recipe! This has been a great starter recipe for my 13 and 16 year olds. Never eat it without the Parmesan cheese – that’s where the wonderful flavour comes from. This probably gets made twice a month at our house and we’ve been enjoying it for many years!! If I’d had access to this recipe as a young adult living away from home I would’ve made it every week. And I agree with other commenters that it’s great with cooked chicken breast, broccoli, peas… Can’t say enough good stuff about it!
I made it and added some cooked, diced chicken breast. Taste is great!
Really nice, especially given how little work is required! However, if your pasta has a shorter cooking time (my fettucine only said 5-6 minutes on the box), maybe let the liquid simmer for a bit before adding pasta – with the shorter cooking time, the liquid didn’t have as much time to evaporate, so the end result was very watery (but fortunately I was able to salvage it by adding more cheese and a little bit of flour).
I usually do not leave reviews, but this was too good not to. Made it just as written and it was perfect and delicious. Thanks for a wonderful pasta recipe!
Made this tonight and it was on point! Perfect
Made with my air fry chicken and it was the perfect as a side.
Thank you
This is great and so easy! We’ve made it a regular side dish and have not made any changes.
