One Pot Garlic Parmesan Pasta
The easiest and creamiest pasta made in a single pot – even the pasta gets cooked right in the pan! How easy is that?
Garlic and parmesan. A match made in heaven. And with the help of a single pan, you can make the easiest, most epic pasta ever.
Just think of this as a creamy alfredo, except without the heavy cream and the cream cheese. And no, taste is not compromised in this super easy one pot meal.
The one pan aspect actually helps the noodles soak up all that amazing flavor, giving you that light cream sauce coating the noodles in all its garlic-Parmesan glory.
And if you really want to save on dishes, you know my rule – this should get eaten straight out of the pot. The dishes, the plating, the garnishes – it’ll just slow you down anyway!
One Pot Garlic Parmesan Pasta
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup milk, or more, as needed
- 8 ounces uncooked fettuccine
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
Instructions
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add garlic and cook, stirring frequently, until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
- Stir in chicken broth, milk and fettuccine; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until pasta is cooked through, about 18-20 minutes. Stir in Parmesan. If the mixture is too thick, add more milk as needed until desired consistency is reached.
- Serve immediately, garnished with parsley, if desired.

Could you recommend a vegetarian substation for the chicken broth? this looks delicious! can’t wait to try
They make vegetable broth should be just as good or just use water. Maybe just add more garlic and salt and pepper to make up for flavor
Use vegetarian better than bullion chicken flavor! It’s amazing!
Was looking for a quick recipe and this was really good, especially for how quick and easy it was to make. I used 2 teas of garlic and 1/2 C of Parmesan. I will make this often
Delicious. Great replacement for Alfredo and many less calories with an amazing taste. We had to add milk to keep it creamy. Noodles cook to perfection in the 20 minute timeframe.
Quick, easy and delicious. I substituted half and half for the milk and it worked well.
I am just starting to cook things on my own as I just moved to a college dorm! What ingredient should I use more of to make a little more thicker?
I would first try not using as much liquid perhaps, Then try adding extra cheese, and or substitute Heavy Cream for the milk. Experiment a bit, adn make it your own dish. Happy Cooking!
A tiny bit of flour or corn starch is a great thickening agent. Note that it should be cooked in over low heat for a while before it will start to thicken anything. That being said, using less liquid is the best way to go — you can always add more in, but you can’t take it out once it’s in the pan! Good luck with your cooking adventures 🙂 (PS: if you haven’t already, check out Budget Bytes — I used them a lot right out of college!!)
What a great dish! So easy.and prep is a breeze! All in one pot and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend it!!
Made this recipe tonight and it was delicious!! I love that you only need to use one pot!! I served it with garlic bread and a side salad.
This was amazing! I halved the recipe since it was for 2 people and it says to serve right away, so I wasn’t sure what leftovers would taste like.
I would say this was very similar to an Alfredo -just as creamy although made with milk & adding freshly grated Parmesan cheese, as well as freshly chopped parsley really made a difference! So, so amazingly tasty! Highly recommend.
(I wanted to note, I didn’t really start stirring the pasta until about 5 minutes in. Once they became more pliable, I started to stir. And I eat them al dente).
I would call this good but not great. The flavor is a bit mild, and I added extra cheese and garlic. It’s good for a side dish, though, and so easy that I can see it becoming a regular go-to.
Loved it!!! I will definitely make this dish for my family again! Super easy and fast 🙂 I added cherry tomatoes to the pot after the pasta was cooked. It gave if a nice pop of color. I also added slices of grilled lemon chicken. Yum!!!!
Super easy and delicious. Double the recipe to have leftovers!
Almost perfect! I add an extra cup of heavy cream and def more cheese to make it nice and creamy. If I have any veggies on hand, I love adding spinach. It’s my go to pasta recipe!
My go to all time favourite pasta! Love this pasta recipe. It’s so easy, and yet so delicious. I usually double the amount of chicken stock and milk (cos I like my pasta extra creamy), and add extra garlic, mushroom and spinach or broccoli. Thanks for this awesome recipe. I’ve made it many times now.
Whoa, what the h…. time to monitor comments here, maybe we can blame it on COVID but damn…this is about cooking! No way I could manage this online crowd but I am guessing it’s best to say nothing at all….as we know is the gospel truth.
Just checking in to say hello, thanks again a million times for this recipe that is unbelievably both simple and every time gets better and more perfect just as it is, and hope you are staying home, safe, and healthy.
Cheers!
