I just want to be very transparent about this. This recipe is meant to serve 12 but if I’m being completely honest, we each had a row of sliders to ourselves with zero shame. So really, it serves 4. I mean, who can resist these buttery, garlicky tops and the mini peps sandwiched in between sweet dinner rolls with melted ooey gooey cheesy goodness?
why i love this recipe
- Easy prep and make ahead. Baked sliders can easily be prepped and assembled ahead of time, making it so convenient to simply pop it in the oven right before serving.
- Crowd pleaser. This is just one of those recipes that is sure to be a guaranteed hit for both kids and grown ups, no doubt about it, perfect for after-school snack time, big family gatherings, party entertaining and game day.
- Versatile and flexible. This recipe is very forgiving and can easily be tweaked to what you have on hand. Use ham or turkey if you don’t have pepperoni on hand, or substitute your favorite cheese. Need to sneak in some veggies? Add in sauteed mushrooms or baby spinach for those picky eaters!

tips and tricks for success
- Use Hawaiian rolls. Hawaiian rolls are perfect for sliders – sweet, fluffy, melt in your mouth dinner rolls. Not to mention, they are perfectly bite-sized to feed a big gathering and large crowds.
- Use your favorite cheese. The recipe lists mozzarella but havarti, swiss or gouda are also great options.
- Double the recipe. The sliders can easily be doubled or tripled, using a separate baking dish for each.
- Make ahead of time. This is a great recipe to assemble ahead of time and placed in the fridge (up to 4 hours).
- Cover with foil. If the tops of the dinner rolls are browning too fast, tent with aluminum foil as needed.
- Mix it up. Swap the pepperoni for salami or prosciutto, add bacon or pickled jalapeno slices, or use everything bagel seasoning blend for the poppy seeds.

Can you provide some instruction on how to make ahead? Would be worried the pizza sauce would make the rolls soggy. Thanks! I’d love to try making these this weekend.
You can assemble ahead of time and bake prior to serving. I have never run into sogginess issues when this is made in advance.
This looks so good that it would probably serve 2.5 at our house…my goodness – all of that cheese and pepperoni looks incredible!
