These ham and swiss sliders are technically classified as an appetizer. You know, for all those big crowds and for general entertaining. It’s easy to make, serves 12, and is a crowd favorite. It’s a no-brainer.
With super fluffy Hawaiian rolls baked until perfection where the cheese has melted into all that ooey gooey goodness along with the buttery-Dijon insides. So so good.
And because these are sliders, they’re quite small and wonderfully bite-sized so they tend to disappear very quickly. So be sure to keep count, it’ll go by fast!
tips and tricks for success
- Use Hawaiian rolls. Hawaiian rolls are perfect for sliders – sweet, fluffy, melt in your mouth dinner rolls. Not to mention, they are perfectly bite-sized to feed a big gathering and large crowds.
- Use your favorite cheese. The recipe lists Swiss but havarti or gouda are also great options.
- Double the recipe. The sliders can easily be doubled or tripled, using a separate baking dish for each.
- Make ahead of time. This is a great recipe to assemble ahead of time and placed in the fridge (up to 4 hours).
- Cover with foil. If the tops of the dinner rolls are browning too fast, tent with aluminum foil as needed.
- Mix it up. Swap the ham for turkey or roast beef, add bacon or pickled jalapeno slices, or use everything bagel seasoning blend for the poppy seeds.

Beautiful picture! Where can I buy the white sheet pan?
Can these be made the night before serving?
They are perfect and I would not add “Everything But The Bagel”, not everyone likes that seasoning mix.
I would love to make it
I made these sliders and they were a huge hit! I did tweak it a little….mixed the Dijon with some yellow mustard and omitted the poppy seeds but everyone loved them! Thanks for the recipe!
These are indeed “damn delicious”! The sweetness of the Hawaiian rolls is a great compliment to the salty ham and tangy Dijon mustard. The only changes I made were, I added thinly sliced onion (because my husband has to have onions on/in everything), and I sprinkled Trader Joes’ “Everything But the Bagel” seasoning on top of the rolls, which also added a garlic element. Easy and so good!
I have made a version of this recipe the past several years for Christmas Eve for our family of 16!! What I have done is line the baking dish with foil prior to putting in the rolls, make them and then put in the frig until ready to bake. Baked at 350* for 25 minutes (foil sealed) and last 5 minutes uncover so the tops get crisp. It is an awesome recipe!
I have made these many times now, recipe as stated, because they are just so damn good. Quick, simple and delicious.
Can I substitute swiss cheese for Fontina Cheese, or Cheddar Cheese? would that make any difference?
Question – the butter/dijon mixture gets spread on the INSIDE of the upper half of the rolls, right? Then on the OUTSIDE upper half, brush with butter and then sprinkle poppy seeds, correct?
Thank you for sharing such an amazing recipe

Every recipe on Damn Delicious has been amazing. These are such an easy go to and kid friendly.
Made these yesterday and they tasted even better than I thought they would! The whole family loves them. The only things I changed were added some “Everything but thing the bagel” seasoning to the mustard mix, added some garlic powder to the melted butter and added a whole package of ham and cheese. The tops got really done, but the middles were barely heated through. They were still good!!
Totally delicious, fun and easy. I love dinners when everything cooks with minimal dishes! I made half with turkey and half with ham and they were a complete hit! Also, I check my IG feed daily just to see Cartman & Butters! So stinkin’ cute!
