Slow Cooker Cocktail Sausages
The easiest, most effortless cocktail sausages you will ever make right in the crockpot. Just be sure to double the batch because these will disappear fast!
Jason and I tend to be home-bodies. We like staying home whenever possible, eating leftovers or ordering delivery, and spending time with Butters.
But just because we’re hermits doesn’t mean that we can’t make party cocktail sausages for ourselves.
And then eat those 10 servings of party cocktail sausages for an entire week.
We had these as a midnight snack, we had them for dinner, and we also had them for breakfast with a fried egg on top.
As you can see, these not only work as a party appetizer but they can work as any meal throughout the day.
And even after having these for an entire week, I made it again the week after that. It’s unbelievably easy to whip up and they’re packed with so much flavor – we just couldn’t get enough!

Made this for a crockpot lunch we had at my office. Everyone said they were amazing!! Will definitely make again!! So easy!
Made this recipe for a party, loved it and sooooo easy. thank you!
I will make this again for sure.
Your recipe sounds great. I have one very similar only I use a little cayenne for the spicy hot bit. My grandson uses Sriracha all the time so I think I’ll try it out in my recipe. Mine is called ” Spicy Franks ” and we usually have it over macaroni but tomorrow we’re having it over rice. I also put a can of diced tomatoes in it. I’ve always cooked it on top of the stove but I was looking for a slow cooker recipe similar to mine for the slow cooker direction. I’m 75 years old and always looking for ways to simplify my cooking. Sincerely, Ninerlaw
Can I use mini sausages instead of cutting hotdogs? Would the recipe/timing remain the same? Thanks!
What a great idea! But unfortunately, without having tried this myself, I cannot answer with certainty. As always, please use your best judgment when making substitutions and modifications.
This recipe sounds amazing and l will definitely be trying it in the near future ! So basic and easy which is right up my alley . I always attend a Christmas Eve get-together and this would be perfect for both the kids and adults ! Thanks for sharing !
And that is coming around fast! We hope you and your family enjoy it.
Does 1 batch fill a crockpot or could I do 2- 3 batches in 1 crockpot? I want to make these for my daughter’s birthday
If a large enough slow cooker is used, you can do 2-3 batches at once. However, it is important to be mindful of the change in cooking time. Hope that helps, Lorrin!
These appetizers are simply wonderful. Prepared them for the company brunch today but used 3 packages of Beef Lil Smokies. Received greatest honor when they were eaten in less than 15 minutes and had to give recipe to ALL employees. Thank you so much for yet again making my potluck dish the star of the Christmas brunch!!!
Eat them for breakfast? Hmm I don’t know … UNTIL I MADE THEM!!! And I sit here at 7:57am chomping on these leftovers. Mmmm.
I add a ton of veggies to mine – carrot chunks, broccoli, cauliflower and toss them on top of the wieners. My crockpot cooks hot and is 7qt so I do low for 3 hours giving it a stir in the last hour. Definitely a keeper!
I made these on Super Bowl Sunday and they were delicious.
Love this recipe!
For those who want an adult only recipe, here is mine and it is addictive.
You will need the appropriate size nonstick frying pan.
*Cut all beef hot dogs in chunks as in this recipe
*Apricot or peach jam
*Brandy
Fry hot dogs in jam on low heat then add a little brandy to deglaze
the frying pan. Keep hot in a heated chaffing dish. Provide toothpicks or cocktail forks for your guest to skewer
chunks.
You won’t hear the end of compliments on this easy recipe. : )
I actually made this using kielbasa instead of hot dogs (the best buy date was for today so I had to do something with them). These were fantastic!!!! Both of my daughters could not get enough and neither of them like kielbasa! Hubby loved them too.
Thanks for sharing this!!!
What was the cooking time for using sausages? Did they take longer?
This looks delicious. For those who want something faster, I cut my hot dogs as in this recipe, and saute in a frying pan with apricot jam and a little cognac. That’s it. You can also use, cream sherry, whiskey, bourbon or scotch. The alcohol cooks off and so little is used but really adds to the flavor. : )
these look absolutely delicious! I don’t have a slow cooker can this be done in a Dutch oven if so, for how long should I cook them? thanks..
Arima, here is a recipe of mine that is done on the stovetop that you can use for guidance to convert this recipe: https://damndelicious.net/2015/01/28/honey-garlic-little-smokies/.
Thank u Chungah!!!
I made this using skinless smoked sausage instead of hot dogs. My teenagers LOVED the results ! Thank you for posting this recipe !
just FYI, I was successfully able to adapt this to the stovetop by adding about 3/4 cup of water and letting the whole thing simmer on medium heat for about 20-30 minutes (or whenever the hot dog pieces plump up and the sauce is reduced). it’s a great recipe! my husband asked what kind of bbq sauce it was and when I said I made it myself he was very impressed (but anything hot dog related impresses him).
I would like to make these for my son’s 3rd bday for the kids. I’m worried the Siracha sauce might be too hot/spicy for them? I don’t mind using it, just want to know the heat and spice factor. Or do yiu suggest another sauce to replace the Siracha sauce? TIA!
It’s really not very spicy at all, but if you are worried about the heat factor, I would recommend adding at least 1 tsp and then adding more, to taste.
I make these with “Little Smokies” sausages. They are great!
I had such high hopes for these but to the adults they just tasted like hotdogs in ketchup…. I didn’t use the Sriracha so maybe that was the problem. However, all six grandkids loved them. I added BBQ sauce to them to doctor it up a bit, after the adults started commenting on them. That helped. Usually love your recipes!
Bindie, I’m sorry that this didn’t come out for you but the Sriracha may have caused this – it’s an Asian-style hot sauce that brings in so much flavor!
OMG… Chungah I don’t know how you do it. I normally don’t comment on anything but I couldn’t take it.
Do you mean cut length wise? Are fn kidding me. Does that make any sense, look at the pic! And then the other response maybe u should say chunks. Jesus people
Do you mean a 16oz hot dog? Lol…
Can I add okra? Absolutely not! You may end the human race if u added anything else. Lol
I don’t have a crockpot. Can I cook this in a wok over an active volcano? Would that work? Its a crockpot recipe A hole. Why are even looking at crockpot recipes if u don’t have one. You figure it out how to cook a different way. Unbelievable!
I couldn’t possibly use a different kind of sausage could I ? No way in hell this is a very specific recipe. Morons
I don’t think these people should even be allowed in a kitchen near sharp objects and appliances. You’ll prolly delete this but it’s ok. I just wanted to say what I know u wanted to. I held waaaay back on what I really wanted say. Good luck keeping your sanity. People really are idiots.
Eric makes me laugh…please don’t delete
Love your recipes. We’ve tried several and I keep referring people to your blog for great food ideas. These sausages are going on our menu for tomorrow.
Eric,
You’re too funny, but I was thinking the same thing. I don’t know how she does it either. Thanks for finally saying it.
Thank you Eric !!! Saved me from typing !
Eric you took the words right out of my mouth. What a bunch of idiots. I feel awful saying that but g-d damn some of the questions…
I had many of these same thoughts while reading the comment section. But, then I reminded myself that some may be new in the kitchen. Plus, not everyone has “cooking sense” and must go exactly by recipe directions.
I totally agree with you, Eric. I admire Chunga’s patience and politeness answering these kind of questions. The recipe is really easy to understand. Thanks for sharing!
ROFLMAO!!! Thank you, I started to believe for a minute this entire post was a joke but you my friend saved the day! Haha thanks for the laugh and honesty!
LMAO I agree totally!
You made me pee I’m laughing so hard! That is 1 huge hotdog!!! Lolol
Could I use kielbasa?
I haven’t tried it myself but I don’t see why it would be an issue. However, kielbasa is a thicker sausage so cooking time may have to be adjusted.
