Spinach and Artichoke Dip French Bread
The classic spinach and artichoke dip is upgraded into the cheesiest, crustiest French bread ever!
So we kind of got another corgi puppy last weekend.
No, wait. It actually happened. We flew to Sacramento, drove an hour further North, picked up the pup, and drove back about 400 miles back home to Los Angeles. All in one day. It was quite the trek, but worth every minute.
Since we brought him home, there’s been a lot of sleepless nights and quite a bit of adjusting but we are so happy with Ollie.
Butters is also coping with his new life, fighting over toys and getting a little jealous, but he loves him to death! Or at least I think he does.
But enough about these guys. Let’s talk about this French bread. This French bread that’s unbelievably crusty, cheesy and just loaded with everyone’s favorite spinach and artichoke dip.
Once you make this, you won’t ever want to have the dip by itself anymore. It was truly destined to be slathered and baked on top of a French bread loaf. And there’s no judgment here if you make a meal out of this. I did it at least twice!
Spinach and Artichoke Dip French Bread
Ingredients
- 1 (14-ounce) can artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
- 2 cups baby spinach, chopped
- 1 cup sour cream
- â…“ cup mayonnaise
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan
- 1 (1-pound) French bread loaf, cut in half crosswise
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine artichoke hearts, spinach, sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder and onion powder; season with salt and pepper, to taste. Stir in 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese and Parmesan.
- Place bread, cut-sides up, onto the prepared baking sheet. Spread artichoke mixture evenly over the bread slices; top with remaining 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese.
- Place into oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese has melted.
- Serve immediately, garnished with parsley, if desired.

This turned out great! I made it for my book club as an alternative to a standard dip. People could grab a few slices on a plate, which made it easier to serve. Delicious!
So good!! I mixed some fresh garlic with butter and spread that on before spreading the dip on the bread. Delicious!!!
Made this yesterday, and it was good. Next time I’ll use fresh garlic instead of powder.
What’s a good substitute for sour cream? Or can I just leave it out? Never learned to like do it cream….Thanks!
Unfortunately, without further recipe testing, I cannot answer with certainty. As always, please use your best judgment regarding substitutions and modifications.
Don’t like sour cream?
Instead of sour cream, use a tangy mayo like Kraft. You could also substitute softened/whipped cream cheese plus 1/4t lemon juice.
Can this be made the night before and then reheated?
Yes, the dip can be made ahead of time.
Oh, this looks so good!  Thinking it would be great alongside a bowl of soup for dinner.  And I’m betting the dip baked on some pumpernickel slices would be just terrific, too.  ALL your recipes make my mouth water as I read them.  🙂
Butters and Ollie look like a perfect BFF together. 😀
And Yes I am in search bread recipes everytime, every day. Glad I jumped over here.
Previously I saw recipe of Spinach and Artichoke Dip Stuffed Garlic Bread which I found from a buzzfeed video and its awesome too.
I will be giving this french bread recipe a try. Thanks for sharing.
Aw your corgis are so cute! I currently have a tan and white corgi and would really love to get a black/brown/white one as well. I’m so jealous! Corgis are so adorable I can’t.
Ollie is too cute, the perfect addition! And this bread is just what I’m craving for game day!
Congrats on the new pup! Looks adorable, and your other Corgi will have a playmate!
Looks like a fantastic recipe. Have to try soon..maybe Sunday with the Super Bowl.
How can save your recipes? I have tried several and used to be able to save them but that has changed. Love your site!!!!!
Unfortunately, ZipList was shut down back in the beginning of December so that feature has been removed. Please feel free to save recipes by printing or pinning to Pinterest.
Genius! I always spread artichoke dip on bread anyway so this cuts out the middle man!
Love your Recipies. So simple, tasty and easy to make. Can’t wait to try this one.
Your puppies are soooo adorably precious.
I made this tonight for dinner. It was so good!! I did add just a squeeze or two of fresh lemon juice. It was completely gone in minutes. A huge hit!! Thanks for the recipe 🙂
I live in Northern Ca – what city is Ollie from? Made the bread for dinner – fantastic!!
Ollie is from Gold Run, CA.
Looks wonderful – can’t wait to try it!
I have loved virtually every recipe you’ve given us. This artichoke dip caught my eye and I’m actually on the way to the store to get the ingredients! LOVE LOVE LOVE corgis, had one as a kid the the puppy is adorable and “Butters” looks very tolerant of the little guy! Thank you for the recipes!
you are amazing and the dogs are darling…..thanks again for great food recipes
you are amazing… cute doggies
Congratulations on the new puppy. No Corgi should ever be an “only dog”
I didn’t know it was possible, but you have my puppy fever even worse!
OMG…..the little pup is ABSOLUTELY adorable :). Butters is such a cute dog, too. Makes me want to go get a corgi! Great recipe. Would this work as a pizza? Would I cook the dough first, I wonder? Thanks.
A pizza sounds like a great idea! But I’m not entirely sure if the pizza dough will be able to hold all of this up.
Such a delicious recipe for French bread topping!! Yum!
OK your pups are so cute I can’t stand it!! We are trying to decide what kind of dog we want (we lost one to cancer a year ago) and everytime I see Butters I just want to squeeze him. Now you have Ollie and I am seriously dying from cuteness!!!
Oh and the bread? Uhhh helloooooo yumminess!!
Each time I think you have shared the ultimate recipe, you just surprise us again. Well, this one is incredible. My Super Bowl guests are in for a wonderful treat! Thank you!
Have fun with your cute four-legged little one!
He is so stinkin’ cute, I can’t even stand it.
The recipe doesn’t say to cook spinach first and squeeze out liquid before mixing with artichokes. Isn’t that necessary?
Hope – this step is not needed as the recipe calls for fresh spinach, not frozen.
he’s gorgeous! and he has the best name ever. my son’s nickname is ollie. congrats on the new edition!
Wow! This looks so amazing. I think it could be a meal all by itself. Cute dogs….enjoy the pics.
Those two pups are adorable. Yes, totally worth the drive. This french bread also looks amazing. Pinned.
I seriously want to make this RIGHTNOW. For breakfast. This is going to happen today. Yom!
Fabulous! Bet it would make a great pizza too. Gourmet! Thanks
Butter and Ollie look soooo cute together and Butters is so much bigger than Olllie…I didn’t conceptualize quite the difference in size until seeing that pic…hopefully he will always be a protective big brother!
I love spinach and artichoke dip beyond words. I would inhale this!
Artichoke, spinach and cheesy creamy goodness sounds like an amazing combo, and in a baguette ready to dip in some awesome sauce even better 😀
Ollie looks like such a sweet heart, though I am sure he can get up to no good if he wants to 😛 Butters looks pretty content though ^ ^ Just pay them both a lot of attention and I am sure they’ll both be fine 😀 What great news, and I am an itty bitty jealous, to say the least 😛
Wishing you a lovely Saturday! x
The spinach artichoke bread sounds scrumptious! Too much to make for one person though. Oooh for a party to come soon
Anyway, question, what would be a good substitute for the mayonnaise?
This is a Super Bowl must!!!!
Thank you. It’s past midnight and I’m now HUNGRY!!
The pups are adorable!
You can try substituting miracle whip, sour cream or even Greek yogurt to make it a little lighter.
veganaise or a avacado mayonaise?
