Super simple skillet green beans. Perfectly crisp-tender, smothered in lemon zest and Parmesan cheese. Easy and flavorful!
Freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Lemon zest. Garlic. And butter. Lots and lots of butter. Obviously.
That’s all you need here for the easiest, simplest green beans side dish.
There’s nothing complicated here. It’s quick, simple and just a no-fuss recipe – easy enough for your weeknight needs but fancy enough for the holidays!
Just be generous with the Parmesan though. You can thank me later for it.
Lemon Parmesan Green Beans

Another hit! Super easy and delicious! Thank you!
Love this recipe as dies my whole family! I make it often.
Oh, so fresh and restaurant-quality! We demolished these and I can’t wait to make them again. Brava!
These were so good! And normally I am neutral about green beans. Definitely a highlight of my meal (which shocks me to say!).
My family and I prefer green beans that are fork tender rather than crunchy. They are sweeter and much more flavorful than beans that have only been blanched. Otherwise this recipe sounds good.
This French Green Bean recipe is absolutely delicious. Made it yesterday for our Thanksgiving Dinner yesterday (Canadian). Will definitely make this again. Thank you for the recipe.
These green beans are absolutely delicious. I made them last night & everyone loved them. The lemon is refreshing & enhances the flavor. Thanks for this 5 star recipe.
Thank you, Diane!
Love your recipes. I almost exclusively follow yours when looking for new ones. Question on this — Do we have to blanch the green beans?
Yes, blanching is done in the first step.
I made these last night with turkey meatloaf and your corn spoonbread recipe. Both recipes were absolute perfection. These are the best green beans I’ve ever had! I love your recipes and have success with every one I’ve made.
Ou family devours green beans and I grow them in the garden every summer. This looks like a great combo of flavors!
Yes please, the perfect side dish!
Green beans are one of my favorite Thanksgiving veggies! I can’t wait to try this lemon parmesan version 🙂

Great recipe! I always make my asparagus with lemon, so I knew these would be good. One of my sons and I loved them as cooked. My 12 year old son and husband ate all of their servings, but were agnostic towards the lemon. I used shaved Parmesan cheese. I will definitely make them again.
These look not only delicious but really beautiful as well! Love the combo 😉
