These come together with just 15 min prep! You can also make this ahead of time and bake right before serving. SO EASY!
Living in Los Angeles for the last 16 years, it’s no surprise that I love a good burrito. And when I say a good burrito, I mean one of those burritos from a street vendor – the ones where they pile on the cheese, the sour cream and the avocado.
So that’s exactly what we have here – in moderation. Except let’s pile on the avocado and Ranch dressing while we’re at it. You always need a good dosage of Ranch dressing in a burrito, right?
And since it’s Memorial Day and all, go ahead and serve this up with a pitcher of margaritas.
Chicken and Avocado Ranch Burritos
Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch chunks*
- 1 (1.25-ounce) package taco seasoning
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 burrito-size flour tortillas, 10 inches each
- 2 avocados, halved, peeled, seeded and diced
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup sour cream
- ¼ cup Ranch dressing
- ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a cast iron grill pan over medium heat. Season chicken thighs with taco seasoning. Add chicken to the skillet and cook until golden, about 3-4 minutes; set aside.
- Heat tortillas according to package instructions.
- Working one at a time, place chicken, avocado, cheese, sour cream, Ranch and cilantro in the center of each tortilla. Bring the bottom edge of the tortilla tightly over the filling, folding in the sides. Continue rolling until the top of the tortilla is reached. Repeat with remaining tortillas.
- Serve immediately.

Hadn’t made this for a while but was a big hit with the whole fam. Even my picky eaters. Great simple recipe came together quickly! Made as is.
So good! Hoping to find a calorie count but don’t see one. Is that information somewhere?
What’s the calories on these ,?
These were so easy. I cut my chicken up and tossed it in olive oil and the taco seasoning and cooked it in my air fryer. It’s becoming our new favorite. I want to try the ranch mix with non fat greek yogurt and see how that tastes.
What settings did you use for your air fryer?Â
This was SO GOOD! I used chicken breast. I used my homemade taco seasoning. I added diced tomato and diced onion while loading the tortilla. My husband loved it. I loved it. I’ll be using this recipe regularly. Thank you for a delicious meal!!
Absolutely easy and delicious, and the family loved them also.Â
want to try these..Was wondering if they can be frozen??
These are soooooo good and easy!!! I did not have ranch dressing but did have hidden valley ranch dip packets so I just added that to sour cream and used that and it was DELICIOUS!! I also did the bake option just because it was easier and I mean these were a huge hit! Left the ranch/sour cream combo out of one as one in the family dsnt like it and that still tasted awesome!! And these heat up well the next day as left overs 🙂 Will definitely be making again and posting photos on insta! Will be sure to tag you! Thanks for the awesome recipe!
I always put my own twist on recipes so I added some stuff and cooked it a bit different. Oh boy!! Not that it needed anything added. I used everything on the recipe list + but it’s amazing no matter what!!!
Is this the calorie count per burrito, or four all four?
Have not made these yet, but was wondering if it’s possible to sub the chicken with black beans and rice? Would it still taste ok? If so, how much rice and how much black beans would be sufficient?
Thanks!
AMAZING!! Â Added to our Taco Tuesday rotation. Thanks for this wonderful recipe!
This is truly damn delicious ! I had two burritos even though I was full after one because the heart wanted more while the stomach was fulfilled
This was absolutely delicious! Â Everyone loved it. Â I think some pico de Gallo would be good in it as well!
My husband used that with his and loved it!
Yummy
It was amazing. Super easy and fast to make. The family loved it.
I consider myself a pretty terrible cook so I’m always looking for easy recipes that I can’t mess up.  These are AWESOME!  Even my picky husband liked them.  So yummy!!!
Oh we love that you enjoyed it!
They were a hit with my boys. Seconds were a must! I will try grilling the wrapped burritos to melt the cheese next time.
Yum, that’s a good idea. Thanks for sharing Celeste!
I made the chicken avocado ranch burrito……AMAZING!!! I am not a cook by no means, I actually hate to cook but since I started cooking I’m trying different recipes and the family ate this up! Prep time was more than 15 minutes but the dish was awesome!
I think that there is way too much salt in this recipe. For healthier version I would suggest eliminating the taco seasoning and make your own with less sodium. Also, you can shave calories by omitting sour cream. Otherwise it sounds fabulous.
Thanks for the recipe!!! IT WAS DELICIOUS!!! I didn’t change a couple minor things. We used whole wheat tortillas. Instead of using sour cream and ranch dressing, I put dry ranch seasoning mix in plain greek yogurt. Also, I put the taco seasoning mix on the chicken (we used chicken breasts) after I cooked it. I did put a small amt of olive oil on the outside of the rolled up burrito and grilled it in a regular pan. We will definitely be making this again and again!!! Thank you!
*DID change…… I mean…..Oops!
What kind of taco seasoning would y’all recommend ?!Â
Ortega is good but I have even substituted with chili or fajita seasoning based on whatever I had in the cupboard at the time. Just add as much to your liking.
I have been using so many of your recipes. They are delicious (damn delicious!) and I have been using them on my website. The photography is gorgeous as well.
So the calorie count is 759. Whoa that’s a lot.Â
I liked the idea of using my panini press to grill the burritos. Â I made the recipe as written, but sub’d vegetarian chicken strips. Â Next time, I’ll use salsa instead of ranch dressing for a more authentic taste.
Instead of slicing the avocado, I made it into guacamole and it was delicious!Â
Made this last night and it was a success! So easy & so much flavour! My husband and brother in law loved it ! Thanks!Â
I tried this last week for my family and I … since my body movement is limited due to a broken ankle , this was perfect! Did not take long at all and my family loved it!!! One thing I did add to it was bacon and omg it was DELICIOUS Â
Not a fan of ranch dressing but I’m going to try these and improvise
Tried these tonight; added black beans, kidney beans and onion to the chicken. The whole family loved them – a new favorite! Thanks for a great recipe! 🙂
These look amazing..
Thank you for including the nutritional facts on the post. Never know how healthy a recipe really is.
These came out amazing, I used white cheddar and added black beans – the beans were a great touch. My two teenagers were very happy 🙂
Tried this recipe last weekend, the result was absolutely DELICIOUS. Can’t wait to make these again very soon! Combining chicken and avocado is my new favourite thing, I would love to see even more recipes like that!
I made this for dinner tonight and they were so great! My 2 year (shockingly) picked her half of burrito over her beloved mac and cheese.Â
Made these tonight. Â They are outstanding. Â We ended up making 8 but I used a bit more than one lb of chicken.
Great recipe!!
Damndelicious.net is my favorite ! We loved this recipe! I just added this to our list of your
recipes to make over and over! Thanks so much!
Hey Chungah,
Can you freeze the pre-assembled burritos?
Unfortunately, I cannot answer this with certainty as I have never tried freezing this myself – there were no leftovers left to freeze! Please use your best judgment for freezing and reheating.
This looks damn delicious! Thanks for recipe
When you prepare ahead of time, won’t it be soggy by the time you grill it, after you’ve already added the sour cream and ranch ? Want to make sure I get it right. I’m planning to make it tomorrow for last-minute guests and would rather do-ahead! Thanks so much 🙂
Great question! If you pack in the sour cream and Ranch in between the ingredients, you can avoid any kind of sogginess.
This looks so delicious and I love the pictures of the ingredients and the preparation.
and love the CHICKEN AND AVOCADO Â recipes so far! thank you so much for this delicious recipe blog
AMAZING!!!!I make for dinner last night. I love all the flavors!. THANK YOU! I told everyone about this recipe!

I’m going to make these for dinner soon! We love anything bacon and ranch, so this would be perfect for an easy weeknight dinner.
