A copycat recipe that you can easily make right at home in just 20 minutes. And it tastes a million times better too!
I am such a sucker for lettuce wraps. They are so low in carbs so I become a bottomless pit, stuffing my face without any kind of guilt. And when it’s an exact PF Chang’s replica that can be made in 20 minutes or less – well, that just means I’m having this 5 times a week.
I kid you not. This is the easiest, quickest meal you could ever make. And if you’re quick in the kitchen, you could even get this on the dinner table in less than 15 minutes. Plus, it’s budget-friendly and you can easily double or triple the recipe as needed. What more could you ask for?
PF Chang's Chicken Lettuce Wraps
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, diced
- ¼ cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon Sriracha, optional
- 1 (8-ounce) can whole water chestnuts, drained and diced
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 head butter lettuce
Equipment
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Add ground chicken and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes, making sure to crumble the chicken as it cooks; drain excess fat.
- Stir in garlic, onion, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, ginger and Sriracha until onions have become translucent, about 1-2 minutes.
- Stir in chestnuts and green onions until tender, about 1-2 minutes; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- To serve, spoon several tablespoons of the chicken mixture into the center of a lettuce leaf, taco-style.

I made this for dinner Saturday and it was fantastic. I left out the green onions and the Sriracha Sauce, some in my family have wimpy tongues. I will definitely be making this many more times in the future.
Thank you for posting this. I made them for dinner last night and my husband and my son loved them. I was looking for the Wokcano recipe and this was very close so I just improvised a little and they were pretty spot on. I use Jennie-O ground turkey for mine it’s pretty much the same as the ground chicken but I like the quality a bit better.
I made this just now. Guess what? It is delicious! Thank You so very much!
I’ve made a # of your recipes and always like them. These lettuce wraps are no exception. Made them tonight for the 2nd time, minus the green onions on top. I did make a topper sauce of hoisin, soy sauce and stone-ground mustard. It was delicious…again!
Made this last night and loved it!! Will definitely be making it again.
I’m curious if you ever calculate the nutritional information on your recipes, I find that info very helpful.
This meal was so good I look forward to trying some of your other stuff!
I’m so glad you enjoyed this recipe, Kate!

Just made these lettuce wraps last night and it was delicious and easy. I also added some chopped baby bella mushrooms. I’ll make this again for sure.
Ive made other copycat PF Chang recipes and they were just as good but they took forever to prepare! Making the sauce from scratch. This was awesome, super quick, and so easy!! Thank you! This is the only version I will need from now on.
I’m trying this tonight! Thanks for the recipe
I absolutely love this recipe! It’s so delicious and easy to make – its a staple in my household. My hubby and I have quit our jobs to travel for a year, so I’ve now been making this all around the world 🙂 (check out our adventures on http://www.thinkofallthestories.com, if you’d like!) Thanks for the wonderful recipe, Chungah!
I made this tonight for dinner and it was delicious!! I made it with turkey instead of chicken because I always have ground turkey on hand in my freezer and it was still great and just a tad leaner. The sriratcha really makes the sauce! My husband loved it too! He raved about it and ate 6 lettuce wraps!! Thanks for the recipe!
I am so impressed with all the great comments on these lettuce wraps. I am going to make these Sunday for Father’s Day. My son is a terrific single daddy to his 3 young ones & l think he will love these. My grandchildren will be here, too, of course and are all very picky eaters but will at least try anything. I hope l have found something we all will enjoy. I know l will love them so l will be doubling the recipe because l know l will eat all if any are left. I will let you know. I am excited to make these. It doesn’t take much to excite a doting grandmother. LO L.
Just finished making this recipe an hour ago and I must say, its quite delicious! Thank you so much for sharing, my family appreciates it and they’re happy I made double the recipe… Hopefully it’ll last a couple days… Lol
Made these for dinner last night & they were awesome. Husband ate every bit so no left overs for lunch!
Modified these a bit to suit our tastes (more ginger and used thigh and breast meat, and cooked chicken in sesame oil) and they were fantastic. Nothing like PF Changs (I do like their wraps) but delicious none the less! Company worthy for sure!
With an abundance of fresh lettuce I found your recipe and decided to try to, never having PF Chang version. This was great thank you so much for creating or ‘recreating’ this recipe. Glad I found your website and look forward to trying other recipes on your site
I’m planning on making this but I can’t find rice wine vinegar anywhere. Can I use rice vinegar instead?
Yes, rice vinegar should work just fine.
I made this last night and OMG the flavors were excellent! My normally picky husband gobbled down most of it before i even sat down. I will definitely make it again soon. Thank you for yet another great recipe!
Hi beautiful, can I use ground pork or sausage?
Ground pork would be a great substitute.
Just made these and they are DELICIOUS! Super easy to make too. I plan on making them when I have family come and visit in a few weeks. Thanks for posting this recipe!
I made these last night and they were superb! After reading the comments, I decided to make my own hoisin sauce, instead of buying a whole bottle of it. (I used this recipe: http://www.food.com/recipe/homemade-hoisin-sauce-312992) I also added diced red peppers to the mix. These were so fast to whip up, especially on a weeknight. Wlil definitely be making them again, thanks! 🙂
