A copycat recipe that you can easily make right at home in just 20 minutes. And it tastes a million times better too!
I am such a sucker for lettuce wraps. They are so low in carbs so I become a bottomless pit, stuffing my face without any kind of guilt. And when it’s an exact PF Chang’s replica that can be made in 20 minutes or less – well, that just means I’m having this 5 times a week.
I kid you not. This is the easiest, quickest meal you could ever make. And if you’re quick in the kitchen, you could even get this on the dinner table in less than 15 minutes. Plus, it’s budget-friendly and you can easily double or triple the recipe as needed. What more could you ask for?
PF Chang's Chicken Lettuce Wraps
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, diced
- ¼ cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon Sriracha, optional
- 1 (8-ounce) can whole water chestnuts, drained and diced
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 head butter lettuce
Equipment
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Add ground chicken and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes, making sure to crumble the chicken as it cooks; drain excess fat.
- Stir in garlic, onion, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, ginger and Sriracha until onions have become translucent, about 1-2 minutes.
- Stir in chestnuts and green onions until tender, about 1-2 minutes; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- To serve, spoon several tablespoons of the chicken mixture into the center of a lettuce leaf, taco-style.

Made these last night. Used turkey instead of chicken, and cashews instead of water chestnuts. Soooo delicious. My fiance went back for thirds. Will definitely add this as a staple in our future dinner menus.
ooooh! will definitely try the cashews next time!
Thank you for the amazing recipes! I skipped the ginger and they were so delicious… we each made a side sauce mixing soy sauce and spicy green sriracha sauce to our own heat preference to put on top. 2nd time making it and had to write to let you know it was a HIT!
I would love to see “Copy Cat” recipes as a recipe section on your website. love these! As well, I would love to see a post that would list pantry basics that your recipes tend to call for, especially for your Asian stuff. Seriously love your site, your easy & tasty recipes have got me cooking again for my family!
Oh my yummy goodness, I just made this and it was the best thing I’ve ever made! Thank you so much for the delicious recipe!
I have made this dish FREQUENTLY! This dish got my 8 year old to even EAT lettuce! It’s amazing and I agree with several others that this recipe is much tastier than PF Chang’s! This is dinner tonight and we can hardly wait! Thanks for a GREAT go to meal, safely stashed in my recipe book!
I made this recipe for my family last night and it was a HUGE hit! And tasted without a doubt very close to the original!!! YOU HAVE A HIT ON YOUR HANDS HERE! THANK YOU!
@Bill , you are another traumatized humiliating AMERICAN, get over, LOL
I loved this recipe and had all the ingredients in my fridge already. Healthy and delicious. I added julienne carrots and bean sprouts for some added crunch. Yummy. Love this site.
I have been putting this recipe in my menu rotation for months now, and I just thought that I should leave a comment. It’s the least I can do after you giving me such an amazing meal for weeknight dinners. It’s super easy, super fast, and so delicious, just as advertised! Thank you, and I love your site. =)
I just made this recipe with ground turkey and it is delicious!
Thanks so much for this recipe!!! I am so obsessed that I make a double batch every Sunday. Luckily, Costco has the butter lettuce since I am tearing thru so much! I have made w turkey and chicken and although the I like the chicken a lil better, the turkey is just as good (and i can get it at Costco). I eat topped w diced avocado and drizzle w Sriracha (b/c the hubby likes and makes it look gourmet :). LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!!!!!!
Made this last night. Quick & everyone loved them! Only thing is I couldn’t stand the ginger taste…next time I will only put in a tiny bit or none at all. Thank you!
I love the recipe. The family did too. Thanks! My 8 year old said that I have to put this on the menu.
So it goes on the Menu. All love!
I am making this tonight for the second time. We use grassfed ground beef and organic ingredients whenever possible. It is hard to find the asian sauces in organic so I’m using alot of the regular ones. But the flavor of this is just yummy. So. freaking. good.
Wanting to utilize what I have in my kitchen, and also not owning a food processor, how would you suggest using boneless, skiness chicken thighs in this recipe? I was thinking of boiling them until they pull apart, then cook as per recipe. What say you?
That sounds like a great idea!
So good! They are now a staple at my house.
We had these at PF Changs which reminded me to look for the recipe. Made them tonight with ground turkey and subbed celery for the water chestnuts because that was what was on hand. It was wonderful! Tastes so much like the restaurant. I think the wraps are a bit messy so I make a bed of shredded lettuce and top with the meat 😉
I’m a sucker for copycat recipes and I have to say, this one is DELISH! I used 2tbsp of hoisin instead of the 1/4 cup and skipped the water chestnuts to cut down the calories/carbs (240 cals / 54g carbs less). I do want to ask; how many wraps is 1 serving?? 4wraps; 6 wraps?
Mara, it’s really difficult to answer how many wraps is equivalent to a single serving especially because some people tend to fill their wraps up more so than others! It may be helpful to divide the mixture into 4 equal servings to serve 4. Hope that helps!
Who cares what Pete says? Thanks for the recipe.
Fast and east and SO delicious. A great low-carb meal. Kids loved it too. Thanks!
This is a terrific recipe that has become a part of our regular rotation. Thank you!!!
