I normally do not leave comments however, after enjoying these waffles I simply had to. I decided to substitute my normal name brand pancake/waffle mix with your recipe this morning. I deviated from the recipe by cutting the ingredients in half, adding cinnamon and blueberries. Halving the ingredients produced two fluffy 7 inch circular waffles. Honestly, I had my name brand mix ready to go–just in case–but surprisingly it wasn’t needed. My husband didn’t notice the difference and neither did I. I no longer need to buy name brand pancake/waffle mix. Thank you.
Do these taste fairly egg-y? What’s the texture like? are there enough oats that they don’t come out with a rubbery texture? I’ve tried high protein waffles/pancakes before and they’re always both eggy and rubbery! -_-
Not at all!
What could you use in place of cottage cheese? I can’t have dairy. Help! These look amazing!

Using this recipe, I got 7 waffles by using the half cup measurement as directed. Is this correct?
I was only able to squeeze out 4 but the more the merrier, right? 🙂
Tried these this morning and they were a hit! Been looking for a “protein” waffle/pancake mix without protein powder and this was perfect. Also, no added sugar or oil! Thanks for this :)!
what waffle maker did you use ?
I used the Breville Smart Waffle Maker.

Yum, these look so good! I wish I had cottage cheese so I could make them right now. 🙂 Congratulations on the expansion too!!
I made these pancakes this morning and they were delicious! I have 3 picky eaters and they all LOVED them. I can’t wait for more of these type of recipes. Great job!
I just made these for breakfast and they were awesome! My husband said he wants them everyday 🙂 Just curious, the nutrition facts say “serving size 4″…so that means 4 whole standard sized waffles are 276 calories total? I would have thought a typical serving would be about 2 waffles. Thanks!
One serving size corresponding to the nutritional information is for one waffle.
I just made these and it tasted a little sour..I’m guessing it’s from the cottage cheese. Is it supposed to have a slightly sour taste? :/
It should not have a distinct sour taste per se. Did you follow the recipe exactly as written without any substitutions?
But beware of the maple syrup you pour on the waffles. Per the nutrition label, 1/4 cup… merely a 1/4 cup mind you… contains 47 grams of sugar, which is the equivalent of almost 12 teaspoons of sugar.
I’m pretty sure all that syrup is for the benefit of a beautiful photo.
How many waffles does this recipe make?
About 4 standard-sized waffles.
If it only makes 4 then why does the nutritional stats say serves 6?
The recipe makes 6.
I am so excited to try this! Waffles are my favorite breakfast food to make at home, but I never found a health recipe that was also tasty. These look great, and are actually easier than my go-to recipe.
These waffles were absolutely delicious topped with fresh peaches and blueberries. A grear way to start the day – Thank you!
Do you think you could use steel cut oats instead of old fashioned?
Unfortunately, without further recipe testing, I cannot answer with certainty. As always, please use your best judgment.
May I use egg beaters? Pecans? Blueberries? (Please don’t say “Yes, absolutely”. or I’ll think I’m talking to a robot!).
Yes, absolutely. You can add pecans and blueberries. See, not a robot here :). I have also added lemon zest, nutmeg, and other types of berries. The possibilities are endless. As for egg beaters – unfortunately, I do not have much experience using this ingredient so I cannot answer with certainty. As always, please use your best judgment regarding modifications and substitutions to suit your preferences.
Amazing job with your videos! And you two are naturals on camera together! Can’t wait to make these!
Should I/could I use steel cut oats? Thanks! I’m excited for your new section on your blog!
Unfortunately, without further recipe testing, I cannot answer with certainty. As always, please use your best judgment.
I would imagine that the steel cut oats are too hard to be thrown directly into the blender. Perhaps try soaking them with the cottage cheese overnight? That might help to soften them up sufficiently.
I have a normal round sized waffle maker. Will the nutrition value you have for yours be the same? Would love to know. Thanks so much!
It’s honestly a bit hard to say without seeing which waffle maker it is as size can vary quite a bit.
Love this and thank you guys for this recipe, quick question my waffle iron is lost..is the mixture thick enough to make a pancake option? Thanks
Yes, absolutely.
We loved this recipe we made pancakes and I was ableto get 12 pancakes using a measured quarter cup. They were nice in size and took no time in the skillet. Best recipe I’ve found so far and that is searching for 2 years. My husband couldn’t believe they had cottage cheese on them. Thank you for another recipe to add to my collection!
* in them, sorry missed my typo
These look amazing.. is there a way to make it into a pancake recipe? I don’t have a waffle iron.
Yes, absolutely.
