Baked Apple Pork Chops and Green Beans
A quick and easy sheet pan dinner that can be assembled ahead of time and baked right before serving. Easy peasy!
Is it just me or am I the only one ready for autumn?
And I’m saying this as I am in Palm Springs in 110 degree weather. Literally.
Maybe I’m just excited about my recent trip to Chicago where I was lucky enough to preview the new Glade® Autumn Collection at a one of a kind, interactive event, inspired by scent that tempted guests to discover the glamour and mystery of the season.
My experience at the event and the collection really inspired me to step outside my comfort zone with this recipe.
Seriously. Because you know I’m all about those chicken thighs.
I was so inspired by the Glade® Autumn Collection fragrances, particularly with Spiced Apple Magic™, that I had to do something with apples, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. And what better combination of flavors to top off some beautifully seared pork chops completely rubbed with fresh sage?
See, I told you. I’m really going for it.
The best part? The complementary side baked right alongside your main!
Baked Apple Pork Chops and Green Beans
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 8-ounce pork chops, bone-in, 3/4-inch to 1-inch thick
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 16 ounces green beans, trimmed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
For the apples
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of nutmeg
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Lightly oil a baking sheet or coat with nonstick spray.
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium high heat.
- Rub both sides of the pork chops with sage; season with salt and pepper, to taste. Add to the skillet and sear both sides until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
- Place pork chops and green beans in a single layer onto the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle green beans with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- Place into oven and roast until the pork is completely cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 140 degrees F, about 12-15 minutes.
- Return skillet to medium high heat and melt butter. Add apples, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Cook, stirring occasionally, until apples just begin to soften, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in maple syrup, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Serve pork chops immediately, topped with apple mixture, garnished with parsley, if desired.

Awesome supper easy recipe. I removed the pork from my cast iron pan and added sweet potatoes with a little brown sugar. Cooked for about 8 to 10 mins. Then added to the pan with the pork and green beans. Very good!
Used asparagus instead of green beans. My husband did not have fond memories of pork chops from his childhood. He loved this dish.
I’ve made this recipe quite a few times…and again tonight. It’s not only delicious and flavorful, it’s quick and easy…and who doesn’t love that!
Wish I could give it more stars:)
Made this tonight, I could eat an entire pan of just the green beans! Perfect fall/winter meal. Easily prepped & made after work!
Yummmm so good! The flavor combo of sage and buttery apples and cinnamon… love it. Thank you for this recipe! Any suggestions on what would be a good way to double this recipe? One baking sheet of pork and one of green beans?
What a great idea! But unfortunately, without having tried this myself, I cannot answer with certainty. As always, please use your best judgment when making substitutions and modifications.
Jessica, did you ever successfully double this recipe? I have 7 in my family and would like to try it this week.
This was a great recipe, the first time I cooked pork chops and they weren’t dry. I did make a slight change and put the apples on top of the boneless chops in the oven instead of after. My husband loved it and said should have been more apples.
Thanks for finally getting me to not have dry pork chops.

What types of apples do you recommend for this recipe?
Hi Jaclyn! Honeycrisp apples are great for combining with pork. Because of the saltiness of the pork, a sweeter apple works better than a tart/sour one. I hope that helps!
I made this tonight for the first time and used Honeycrisp apples (only because they were the ones I had in my fridge), and it was wonderful! I have tried a few different apple pork recipes over the last few months and haven’t enjoyed any of them until this one!! And my kids loved it too 🙂
That’s so great to hear Megan, thank you!
What could be used instead of maple syrup?
Thanks…looks delish!

Any idea on other veggies that would go well with this dish? Try to work on variety!
Broccoli would be a great substitute or addition!
Have you tried Brussels sprouts? Love them this time of year and may try them if green beans don’t look good store..
I actually haven’t but it sounds amazing!
I have to think that the specified time in the oven is a typo… I’m using sliced pork tenderloin, about 3/4” thick, it’s not even brown after 15 minutes in 400 degrees… the beans even smell raw. It’s throwing my whole meal upside down… apples are ready, rice and bread as well, and the meat will most likely take another 30 minutes! Can’t comment on the taste yet as it’s not ready.
Hi Liz! Sometimes an oven’s set temperature isn’t always equal to its actual temperature. I recommend utilizing an Leave-In Oven Thermometer for accuracy. Hope that helps!
I followed the directions exactly as listed and mine was done in 16 minutes – including green beans. The only thing I can think is that your oven temp was off. Good luck next time! It was delicious!
Liz, Step 3 instructs to brown pork in skillet, so when you write that your pork tenderloin isn’t even brown after 15 mins in 400degree oven, I’m thinking you missed step 3…. BTW be cautious when browning slices of tenderloin, you dont want to dry it out. hope this helps
Hi! Is It possible to reheat this dish with the sauce the next day? Like to refrigerate the leftovers and pack for lunch tomorrow? If so how? At my job we only have a microwave to heat our lunch this meal was soooooooo delicious I have to share it on the military base tomorrow .
Yes, you can absolutely refrigerate and microwave until heated through.
Love this recipe.so good and so easy to make.
tried this last night. It was awesome!! i can’t wait to try it on a pork roast
Hi, Chungah, I’ve made this meal tonight. I’ve changed the green beans for broccoli and I added some little potatoes cut in halves to make sure they would cook at the same time then the chops. I had a real success with the apple and sauce. It was perfect. I only had to add 2 more minutes to cook perfectly the pork chops. I will recommend this recipe on my FB page. And will cook this meal again. Thanks so much.
Made these and they are amazing! Actually have made it a couple of times and love it!
Question from kitchen amateur… does it matter light or dark brown sugar and does it matter they types of Apple? tysm
Yes, taste does vary a little bit between the two sugars and different types of apples.

let me see if i understand this. this dish was “inspired” by an artificially scented, chemically compounded air freshener? i am nauseated. the pork chops look great – and easy, which i love, but i can’t even look at it now.
You can get inspiration from anything and anywhere! 🙂
Dish was inspired by a paid sponsor, I’m sure. Chung-Ah doesn’t seem to usually act this way – and her recipes are always exceptional. I’m willing to forgive this one weird one. I haven’t seen others… though, to be honest, I do split my time amongst her page and a few other favorites.
This is such a great meal! First of all.. the smells that come off when you’re cooking (*ahum, boyfriend is cooking*) are absolutely fantastic.
Everything fit so well together. We added some tomatoes, corn cob and garlic bread to it as well (don’t judge, we we’re hungry hahaha).
Definitely going to make this again.
10/10!
