A complete copycat version from Taco Bell! Except completely homemade and made so much more healthier! Get your fix now!
Guysssssss. I’m finally heading home. I’m literally enroute to Los Angeles right now, about 21 hours into my journey of a total of 33 hours.
South Africa is quite the journey but so worth it. The culture. The market shops. The bartering. The view on top of Table Mountain. The breastfeeding mama rhino. All of it.
It was a once in a lifetime experience.
But I’m also thrilled to be heading home. I miss Butters. I miss that four-legged turkey-legging troublemaker.
But not only that, I miss this crunch wrap. Yes, I made a complete copycat version except the homemade version is epic. So epic, I ate 5. But it’s homemade so we’re good.
Just don’t tell anyone. K, thanks.
Homemade Crunch Wrap Supreme
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 (1.25-ounce) package taco seasoning
- 4 (12-inch) flour tortillas
- ½ cup nacho cheese
- 4 tostada shells
- ½ cup sour cream
- 2 cups shredded lettuce
- 1 Roma tomato, diced
- 1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese
Equipment
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Add ground beef and cook until beef has browned, about 3-5 minutes, making sure to crumble the beef as it cooks; stir in taco seasoning. Drain excess fat; set aside.
- Heat tortillas according to package instructions.
- Heat nacho cheese according to package instructions.
- Working one at a time, place ground beef mixture in the center of each tortilla. Top with nacho cheese and tostada shell. Spread sour cream in an even layer over the tostada shell; top with lettuce, tomato and cheese. Repeat with remaining tortillas.
- Fold the edges up and over the center. Continue to work your way around the tortilla, folding as tight as possible.
- Heat remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large cast iron skillet. Place wrap seam-side down and cook until the underside is golden brown, about 2 minutes. Flip and cook wrap on the other side, about 1-2 minutes longer.
- Serve immediately.

I made this with lentils and taco seasoning instead of using beef. Its an excellent meat substitute texture wise and with the seasoning you cant tell its not meat!
I haven’t made this yet but I came here because I live in South Africa and have been dying for some Taco Bell and then I read your post – so funny!
Just made these for me and my brother!! So much better than what Taco Bell has to offer. Had to use tortilla chips cause I couldn’t find any tostada’s here but still super amazing!!
It’s so much better and healthier than the fast food version. Glad you agree, Becky!
My husband always gets Crunch Wraps from Taco Bell (I tried one once, didn’t like it, so I get Chalupas) so we tried this. I LOVED these. So much better than nasty Taco Bell. They got better the more we ate. It was weird. Anyway. I couldn’t find 12 inch tortillas anywhere so I got 10 inch. Of course, then I couldn’t fold it and cover the filling so I just broke up the tostada so it was a smaller circle and just had some broken bits inside it like chips. Then it was just fine. Also, I feel like a ton of people are saying they couldn’t figure out how to fold it, which is almost unfair to Chungah because now it looks like her recipe is faulty and its not. Its written just fine, I don’t get why people need a video to help them fold it. I barely even read that part and figured it out.
Thank you so so much for this recipe! I decided to make this homemade Crunch Wrap and compare it to the actual Taco Bell Crunch Wrap and I must say, this one was much better haha! 10/10 would recommend and make again. And if you’re interested in the video, here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJd6XrXi7KY&t=31s
EASY! Only thing I changed since mine were so big, that I had to add a small tortilla on very top under large tortilla so when I wraped it, it all was covered tasted and were delicious!
So I’ve made my own crunch wraps before and I’ve got to say it beats going to taco Bell and paying overpriced for a sub par crunch wrap with barely anything in it. Not only that but you can replicate the lava sauce and add your own spices and amounts.
I’ve never eaten Taco Bell food but this recipe intrigued me. I printed it out and will try it soon. I’ll add grilled onions and use shredded cheese and a low-sodium seasoning. Not being familiar with tostadas shells, are they necessary? Can I use a cut round of tortilla shells if they’re used to stop the filling from falling out?
Lauren, the crisp and crunch of the tostada shells are key to this recipe but as always, please use your best judgment when making substitutions and modifications.
Tostadas are simply baked/fried small corn tortillas. Easy to make your own. 😀
I make your recipes at least once a week. These got RAVE reviews from the fam! I even made them up while on a work related call. I forgot the taco seasoning. Added the lettuce, sour cream and tomato after I “fried” them. I never leave recipe comments because I usually tweet too much but this was a Keeper!
Thanks for sharing!
I could SCREAM this looks so good!
I made these this past weekend and they came out great. From one food blogger to another, thank you for this awesome recipe that totally saved dinner for my family!
Confused. 4 tortillas but the servings are 8. so 2 servings per tortilla? doesnt seem that healthy..
Yes, that is correct, this recipe yields 8 servings for 4 (12-inch) flour tortillas and 4 tostada shells.
Five? You must have great mental strength to stop at five!!!
I love your photos!!!
I made these for dinner tonight..so easy to put together and soooo delicious! My husband wants to renew our wedding vows:). Thank you!
What is “nacho cheese”? Assume it’s a jarred product?
Yes!
Thanks Chungah! My kids love these! I discovered a short video at https://www.popsugar.com/food/Taco-Bell-Crunchwrap-Supreme-Recipe-37148033 for the visual learners out there. It compliments your recipe perfectly.
note:
2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
1 pound ground beef
1 (1.25-ounce) package taco seasoning
4 (12-inch) flour tortillas
I made these for my husband last week and he asked for them this week too! I couldn’t find big enough tortillas so I put a smaller taco shell in the middle and wrapped the edges of the larger tortilla around it. Worked perfectly!
Was going to make plain old tacos tonight but then I came across this recipe and figured what the heck! OMG these were good (I made 2 for me) my son had a modified version and asked for seconds. Super easy to make (no video needed) you just pull the tortilla up and turn, up and turn. Grill both sides and serve. Definitely will be adding these to my dinner repertoire.
These are AMAZING!! Super easy to make. Directions were simple to understand & there are pictures to reference. If you haven’t made these yet, Do IT!! 🙂
Thank you Chungah!!
