The creamiest chicken noodle soup ever! Made effortlessly in your crockpot. Even the pasta gets cooked right in!

Today is the day to stuff our faces with avocado egg rolls, bacon wrapped tater tots, and all the chili cheese dogs you can possibly eat.
But I’ll be here.
With a blanket. The heater. And this soup.
This creamy chicken noodle soup / chicken pot pie hybrid.
It’s the best of both worlds, really.
That comforting soup-y goodness with all the consistent creamy notes of a classic chicken pot pie.
Just serve with crusty bread for dipping purposes.
With a side of those bacon wrapped tots of course.
Slow Cooker Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup
Ingredients
- 1 ½ pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 8 cups chicken stock
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 carrots, peeled and diced
- 3 stalks celery, diced
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- ½ teaspoon dried rosemary
- 2 bay leaves
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 8 ounces medium egg noodles
- ½ cup frozen peas
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Season chicken with salt and pepper, to taste.
- Place chicken into a 6-qt slow cooker. Stir in chicken stock, garlic, onion, carrots, celery, thyme, rosemary and bay leaves; season with salt and pepper, to taste. Cover and cook on low heat for 6-8 hours; reserve 1 cup and set aside.
- Remove chicken from the slow cooker and shred, using two forks.
- In a large bowl, whisk together heavy cream, flour and reserved 1 cup chicken stock mixture.
- Stir chicken, heavy cream mixture and egg noodles into the slow cooker. Cover and cook on low heat for an additional 30-60 minutes, or until pasta is tender and soup is slightly thickened. Stir in peas.
- Serve immediately, garnished with parsley, if desired.

I just made this- exactly according to directions and my whole family loved it. I was concerned after reading the comments, but I’m a huge Damn Delicious fan and decided to trust the recipe as Chungah created it and that trust was validated. The frozen peas at the end made a particularly delicious addition to the texture.
Broth could be a lot more creamy, thicker.
What do you suggest I add to the soup { already divided from crock pot into 8 separate containers that have been put into the freezer}?
Sour cream?, more heavy cream? , more flour?

I thought this was OK. I read through the comments and decided to make the noodles separately and add them in, so that was fine but I think because of that the soup didn’t thicken up at all? It isn’t my definition of creamy chicken noodle soup anyway. More like, chicken noodle soup with white broth.
The flavor was a little bland, but it wasn’t a total waste, my husband liked it and I’ll eat the leftovers, but I’m not sure if I’d make this again.
I thought this was very good and can’t wait for leftovers! Even my extremely picky daughter licked the recipe. I noticed the other posts commented on mushy noodles..I cooked mine for about 10 minutes and watching them carefully and turned out perfect.
this looks delish but for the dropping the noodles into a crock pot or any pot….I have found that you should NEVER cover a pot you are cooking pasta in or it will turn mushy, slimy or what ever but not be or look good. leave the lid off while it cooks. Once it is finished you can again cover or put a wedge under lid to let steam out. It sounds strange to cover once cooked and it doesn’t get mushy but that’s my experience.
Curious if I could use rotisserie chicken instead and how that will affect the cook time and process?

Sure, but the consistency may vary slightly.
Making this for the second time today. I do recommend less cooking time with the noodles in as they were a bit mushy for me when I made it the first time. Otherwise, this was delicious! My brother in law has been begging me to make it again so I’m going to give it another go today.
Question , I’m new to soups In the crockpot and I making this recipe tomorrow …. I only reserve 1 cup of the original mixture of broth and veggies? Discard the rest?

Hi…nope! You keep aside 1 cup of broth & veggies from the beginning of the recipe – then you add it back in to the cream and flour later in the recipe, ok? You’ll do great…keep cooking! …
I loved this one! I’ve been steering clear of sugar and carbs so instead of noodles I put in extra veggies. So good
I have actually made this recipe at least 6 times as written and it’s as delicious as it looks. Thank you for sharing it. My husband says it’s the best creamy chicken soup he’s ever eaten.

I thought this soup came out just ok. It was just way too many onions for me. Maybe if I have browned them in butter. It also just wasn’t as creamy as I thought it would come out. I would have just preferred leaving the cream out and adding a little more spice of some sort. I have made many many of your recipes and have never been less than thrilled about how they turned out so I guess this was just one that wasn’t for me!
Can this be cooked on high for a shorter amount of time?

Absoloutley delicious! I didnt use pasta though i put potatoes in at the first stage along with the carrots ect and it turned out perfectly. Served with crusty seeded bread and butter
Great way to do it!
I made this dish last night and it was delicious. I followed all the steps on the beginning and when it was done I just shredded the chicken in the same pot. I used cornstarch instead of flour and the heavy cream. I put cream, noodles and frozen peas in the crockpot and cooked an hour more dinner was done. This meal can be made on top of the stove in a pot for a quick meal in way less time. I will make this again very good recipe.
I made this tonight, followed the recipe and it was amazing. Didn’t change a thing.
