Damn Delicious Cookbook Cover Photoshoot
A look behind-the-scenes of my upcoming cookbook cover photoshoot, coming this September!
Yes! Damn Delicious is officially coming out with its first cookbook, coming this Fall!
It’s been a huge work-in-progress, and writing a book is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do, but it was also one of the best experiences of my life.
I mean with this baby corgi sidekick, we can conquer the world together.
And eat mounds and mounds of Nutella loaf from Joan’s on Third. Isn’t the catered food the best part of a photoshoot anyway?
No, but really, here is a look behind-the-scenes of the cover shoot that happened right in our new house.
I still don’t have any furniture but Madison Modern Home staged the entire place, making it a beautiful home. And believe me when I tell you – I’m keeping this entire living room set, including Anthony, the stunning make-up guy.
Then there’s fashion blogger Camille, my personal stylist for the day.
This girl made me look so good from head to toe. She needs to be my stylist for real life, not just for photoshoots. Because I only own one pair of jeans and $2.50 Old Navy flip flops.
Â
Here’s Trevor. The photographer. This guy does magic.
Especially with creative director, Nick Hounslow, here, who ran the entire shoot from start to finish. But really, does he have to be that laser-focused?
I was simply asking if I could change my hair.
But really, how perfect is this outdoor staging? I may have to keep all of this too.
If not, I’m taking the water bin and returning the rest. This bin is EVERYTHING.
Then there’s Kyle, the hair guy. He can do wonders, and is always on set making you look fabulous every 10 seconds.
Nope. Not crying here. It just started to rain in the middle of the shoot.
No biggie. Trevor made it work.
See? Nailed it.
Except Butters started to feel left out.
Then he began to creep.
Not sure what these two are talking about but it looks serious. Maybe it was the Butters’ cameo?
But wait. You can’t forget about the food stylist, Marian. I also need her for real life.
And here we go again. The art director is not happy with the Cheesecake Factory avocado egg rolls. Hence, the reshoot.
But 7 hours later, we got all the shots we needed thanks to this amazing team.
I couldn’t have done it without them!
Nick Hounslow – Creative Director
Trever Hoehne – Photographer
Marian Cooper Cairns – Food Stylist
Camille Carter – Stylist
Kyle Estudillo – Hair Stylist
Anthony Merante – Makeup
Arno Diem – Videographer
Madison Modern Home – Staging

Congratulations!! You are such a doll.
Great shots of your photoshoot, fun to see. Â Excited for your new book. Â Your recipes are my go to place when I am looking for what to have for dinner. Â Your recipes are always easy to follow and don’t clutter it up with too many ingredients. Â The only way I cook chicken thighs anymore is one of your cast iron pan ideas – so good and easy. Â Thanks.

Congratulations! So excited for you. Have enjoyed your blog & recipes for a while. Â Already pre-ordered your cookbook from Amazon. Â Looking forward to September. Thank you for all the time you put into your blog, it makes my life alittle easier when I don’t have to think about what to make for dinner. Best of Luck
Your blog is a really amazing story of success, and a testament to all of your hard work. Your food photography is beautiful and your recipes consistently delicious. When my blog grows up, I will be happy to be half as successful as you are. It’s completely amazing that you are ranked #3 among America’s top food bloggers, and that’s with a domain that ends in .net. That’s something all the “experts” say can’t happen. (Those experts are adamant you must have a .com. I guess they don’t realize that good content and hard work is more important than the address.) I am so happy for you. Congratulations on your success. I can’t wait to see your cookbook in print.
Love your site and look forward to purchasing your cookbook, Congratulations!!!! Love all your recipes.
Yes!!! I am so excited to get this book! Just ordered my copy. I love the idea of you doing a local book signing- especially if Butters is there! Kia (my corgi) would love to meet him.Â
That would be so much fun! 🙂
awesome, Â love your recipes and looking forward to your book!
I am so looking forward to your cookbook!Â
So happy for you!!!! Yay!!!! I LOVE all of your recipes!Â
I’ve tried many recipes and love them……so easy. Â I sure hope this book comes out as an eBook with pictures for every recipe. Â Good luck and way to go girl. Â I’ve been to many sites and yours is the only one I have kept. Â Thank you for all the fun I have had…….Kat
Chungah!! Â I’ve been a fan of yours since what seems like forever!! Â Have made many wonderful dinners inspired by your website! Â So happy for your success and your new cookbook!! Â Come to Philadelphia!! I’ll come say hi!!
So happy to have found your site and now a cookbook. WOW!!!! Congratulations. Let us know when we can pre-order.
Well, like everyone above can’t wait till I can buy your cookbook. I love your recipes and they are very well received by my husband and brother. You are a great cook.
Thanks for all the great meals your recipes have inspired!
Good Luck with the Cook Book – hugs for butters! Jude W2AYV
I hope your ‘cookbook’ will be sold in Canada!! I can hardly wait for it.
Your recipes are the best…..more than the best.
Come on September!!##!!
I’m glad to see that you have a corgi in your life, and that the corgi seems to have an appropriately central role. I am also owned by a corgi who rules me with the same gentle persistence.
So happy for you! Â Your recipes are AMAZING!!!
Although I had a lot of trouble focusing on the content after reading the words, “Nutella loaf,” I managed to get through it. This is so great! Published by Time, Inc.??? I feel like I’m in with the cool kids since I’ve been following your site for a while and using so many of your recipes so often. I wasn’t the only one who freaked out when your site was down (turned out to be for all of 15 minutes)–your recipes really are great.
Your own photographs are beautifully professional, too.
In conclusion, YAY!
Congrats on your upcoming book! Â It is a true labor of love…. and I know that first hand. Â I wrote a cookbook several years ago and enjoyed every minute of it! Â What a great accomplishment! Â You should be very proud.
OMG OMG I just love the creeping photo with Butters!!!  lol  I giggled out loud, I don’t if know if it was because it was so cute or if it was because I hear you say, “And then he began to creep” …lol
I am sooo excited for your cookbook!!! Â I’ve said it before, but I keep almost every email you send out, your recipes are all so yummy sounding and wonderful! Â Very rare if I don’t keep one…Congrats and Good Luck!
I am so happy for you and can not wait for your new book to be available. Your food is the best and I tell everyone about them. Good luck.
Kudos!!
Congratulations, Chungah!! Â I’ve been following your Blog for quite some time and have referred you bunches to friends and fellow cooks! Â I love your soups and Zuppa Toscana is my favorite Heaven in a Bowl. Â You so deserve the STAR TREATMENT!
Can not WAIT for this cookbook to come out. It’s only the second cookbook I have ever even wanted (along with America’s Test Kitchen 15th anniversary). My fiance hates it when I try recipes from other sites and just asked me last week if we can just stick to DD recipes!!! Pre-ordered it yesterday so I will have the cookbook in my hands the day it comes out, just a couple days after my wedding. What a gift to us!!! Let the countdown begin. 😀
I wish you fabulous success. Love, love, love your recipes!

Cannot wait for the cookbook. Â You are, by far, my favorite food blogger! Â I don’t think there’s a recipe of yours I’ve tried that’s failed. Â They’re both simple and yummy, Â which goes a LONG way in my kitchen. Â Good luck finishing it up!Â
You are the best! I love your recipes and they are a staple in my menu planning. Congratulations on your cookbook.

This is my exact sentiment! Thanks for posting what was already in my head. LOL!
So excited to buy the book!!!!!!! When is it on sale????

I just pre-ordered it yesterday on Amazon!! So you can buy it today!!Â
Oooh! I hope you can do a local book tour, like maybe Vroman’s in pasadena? That would be awesome! I would buy a copy and come to get it signed!
You are the sweetest! 🙂
I’ve also been following you for quite a while, and I’m thrilled to learn that you’ll be publishing a cookbook soon. Best wishes for continued success in whatever you do!
CONGRATS! I’m so excited to see the finished product and taste the yummy recipes! I’ve been following your blog/reading every post/cooking your (damn) delicious food for ages, and you so deserve this opportunity. I will be pre-ordering! (Mainly for a chance at Butters pictures, obv, but I’m sure the cooking will be good, too.)
I can’t wait for an official cookbook! The blog is great and wonderful but a physical book to pull off the shelf will be fabulous!
