Blueberry Lemonade
Made with an easy blueberry simple syrup, this lemonade is so refreshing, sweet and tangy. It’s the perfect way to cool down on a hot day!
I’ve been blessed to live in California for the last 14 years, leaving me to eat blueberries all year long. But when I saw the huge buy-one-get-one-free blueberry sale at my local grocery store, I stocked up on 6 pounds of blueberries. I may have been overjoyed and way too ambitious thinking that I could eat all of it.
So when life gives you blueberries, well, you make blueberry lemonade.
It’s definitely an unconventional lemonade but after making strawberry lemonade and raspberry peach lemonade, I just wanted to try something really different.
And boy, was I in for a treat. With a simple homemade blueberry syrup, this drink could not get any easier. It’s wonderfully fruity and sweet from the plump juicy blueberries with just enough of a tart kick. And it’s really the perfect way to cool down on a hot day. Plus, if you’re anything like me, well, you’ll sneak in some vodka for an adult-style lemonade!
Blueberry Lemonade
Ingredients
- ½ cup Imperial Sugar Extra Fine Granulated Sugar
- 1 cup blueberries
- ¾ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
Instructions
- To make the blueberry simple syrup, combine sugar and 1 cup water in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Stir in blueberries and bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer until blueberries have broken down, about 3-4 minutes.
- Strain blueberry mixture through a cheesecloth or fine sieve; let cool.
- In a large pitcher, whisk together blueberry simple syrup, lemon juice and 5 cups water. Place in the refrigerator until chilled.
- Serve over ice and blueberries, if desired.

Bootfyful photos my dear!!
Blueberries and lemons (with some sugar, of course) have forever been my favorite flavor combination! So delicious: whether it is in a pie or in a drink! Beautiful!
That’s a lot of blueberries! I always go overboard when it comes to fruit. It really is hard to resist those gorgeous colors. Lemonade is the perfect way to use berries. This is gorgeous!
Hellloooo, beautiful. I can’t wait to slurp down a tall glass full of this blueberry lemonade! Texas summers practically demand a glass-a-day of drinks like this!
Your lemonades always have a way of making me thirsty even when I’m not :). I’ll need this soon this summer!
So refreshing and perfect for a hot day!

I love all different kinds of lemonade, but I haven’t had this combination! I have got to try it. 🙂 Gorgeous drink!
I’m so envious of you living in California with all of the delicious fresh produce year round! I love blueberries and this looks amazing!!
This look so refreshing!
I love the idea of making your own syrup, and the colours, wowsers – gorgeous 😀 Loving the little berries floating around too, mmm 😀 When growing up and living in Norway, I always went picking blueberries in the late Summer. What better than to pick your own berries and enjoying them with cream and a sprinkle of sugar? This is a great lighter alternative though, not to mention zingy 😀 x
I’m pretty sure that you are the queen of yummy, delicious drinks! You always make the best ones! I would have never thought of blueberry lemonade, but I love blueberries and lemons together so it makes perfect sense! Gorgeous photos as always! Pinned!
The combo of blueberries + lemon is so popular and I bet this drink is super refreshing! I would add some booze and doctor it up a little I think 🙂
This sounds so lovely! And that color – so pretty. : )

ooooooh this sounds like the perfect warm weather drink! We got our first blueberries of the season today. SUPER early this year, and I couldn’t be happier about it.
